Championship Show
3rd May 2026
Initially my thanks go to the committee of LASER for inviting me to judge and my stewards Linda and Tracy who worked well throughout the day. Many thanks to all who entered whether you were present or absent, your entry means a lot.
Whilst I found a few head types that gave that gorgeous calm gaze, once again it was not the majority of exhibits, some were too plain, others with ears not sitting right, eyes too close or of incorrect shape. I was a little concerned that I had a few exhibits with incorrect bites. Overall condition of the dogs was excellent, but a few lacked in this area which is a shame.
Veteran Dog (1)
1st Bateson’s CH UPEND BLADE – An impressive male who was turned out in lovely condition. He has a gorgeous head of correct proportions, dark almond shaped eye, medium ear set well and carried close to cheek which were muscled, skull of good width as was muzzle and jaw. Muscular neck of medium length. Top line firm which was maintained at all times. Stands on good feet. Rear has a good thickness and strength to first thigh with a nice bend to stifle with the strength continues through to firm hocks. Thick tail set which is carried well. Rib cage is well developed with good depth, and firm undercarriage. Would benefit from more angle in forequarters so that he can stand truer and have that touch more extension on the move. However, he uses all he has on the move where he put on a great performance pushing hard in the lineup, I had to short list him in my final run off for CC & RCC where he gave the younger males a challenge. Really pleased to award him BVIS.
Puppy Dog (4)
1st Brereton’s HEIDEVANS MARIUS PAVEL – A raw youngster who doesn’t show what he has when stood. Masculine head which is developing well, dark eye although a bit round, good ears set well on a broadening skull, muzzle has good width, and finished with a large black nose. Good length of leg and stands on nice feet. His neck is of medium length and blends onto a well-balanced front assembly, which gave him that extra extension in front on the move to win the class. Rear angles are pleasing and used well on the move, where firmness in hocks was seen. He did tire later in the day and was not quite as enthusiastic on the move. A nice youngster who I feel will take a good while to mature. Lovely temperament, presented in good condition and complimented with nice tan markings. BPD & BOSPIS
2nd Aspinall’s OLEARIA WESTFALEN THE ONE – Medium sized male with matching bone. Clean head with an almond eye, lovely ear set, and gives a nice expression. Front is pleasing, stands straight in front onto good feet. Nice body where rib cage is developing well and with good depth. Topline leads onto a nice croup and tail set. Well angulated rear angles with firm hocks. Presented in lovely condition.
3rd Monk & Jone’s OLEARIA WESTFALEN ONE LOVE
Junior Dog (4)
1st Fell’s TANEVEN DUTCH – Another nice young male who is pleasing to go over, not quite together but he shouldn’t be finished yet. Good head of correct proportions showing masculinity, broad muzzle with strength to jaw, dark flews. Neck length is good and leads onto a nicely balanced front. Body is developing but depth of chest is correct, undercarriage is correct. Topline level, nice width to loin. Good rear moderately angulated rear angles which enabled him to move true and fluent whilst displaying soundness and good extension. Finished on good feet.
2nd Moss’ CHANTAVORY’S WONDER BOY – Very mature male for his age. Head is masculine, good skull with attentive wrinkle, strong muzzle and jaw. Slightly smaller to medium ear carried well, dark round eye, would prefer less tan over nose. Good width to chest, with nice front angles, stands straight in front. Well developed ribs, top line leads to correct croup and tail set. Not quite as firm in the top line on the move. Strength in rear angles which he has ample of. Exuberant on the move driving well from his hindquarters.
3rd Bateson & Hoole’s UPMONT MAGNUS VER MAGNUSSON
Yearling Dog (2,1abs)
1st Fell’s TANEVEN DUTCH – as in Junior
Novice Dog (1)
1st Horton’s STEIGEN REGGY BEE – Compact male with good bone throughout. Head has correct proportions, with good ear set, lovely dark eye, strong muzzle with large nose. Round muscular neck. More angle is need in his forequarters as he has ample rear angles. Well developed rib cage of correct depth where it meets elbows. Broad and strong loin. Moved sound in all directions.
Post Graduate Dog (3, 2abs)
1st Sutcliffe’s BEREYDA MIDNIGHT EMPEROR – I really liked this boy in profile on the stance. His angles fore and aft could be observed easily, and putting hands on him confirmed this. Head is strong and masculine with good width to skull, ear carriage and set is correct, good cheek, broad muzzle with strong jaw, round dark eye which are rounder than I like. Neck of good width and length. Chest is developed and of good depth where it meets elbows. Strength in pastern and complimented with tight feet. Body is well developed with a nice spring to rib. Top line is lovely with no deviation and this is maintained on the move. I would like him to be that bit more toned throughout and more animated on the move.
Limit Dog (2) – The characters on these two dogs were fabulous and certainly put a smile on my face, however I don’t think their handlers would agree.
1st Goodban’s SEITTOR MAGIC SPELL WITH KELJAYGO – Medium in size, but has correct bone throughout. Presented in lovely firm condition throughout. His head is masculine and really pleasing when taken as a whole, it reminded me of some heads from years ago. He uses his well-placed ears to give a good expression. Lovely clean firm topline, rib cage has good depth and spring, width of chest is good, stands straight in front onto tight feet. Well angled in hindquarters with nice thickness to first thigh and second thigh continues in strength and muscle to a strong hock which he uses well to drive from on the move. He would benefit from a better return of upper arm to enable to reach that bit more on the move, however he uses all he has and displays soundness in all directions.
2nd Wilkinson’s ROTTKINSON DARK KNIGHT – A super well boned male, with a lovely masculine head which is in proportion, ears are medium and I feel are carried correct but sadly he never used them to show his expression, which is a shame as his almond shaped eyes are so dark and appealing. Stands straight in front, feet a little flat. Body is developed well with a lovely spring of rib and depth of chest, loin is of good width and firm, set of tail is a little rooty. Strength in hindquarters can be seen with a nice thickness to his thigh with stifles well bent. Hocks well angulated and firm. Moved sound in all directions.
Open Dog (4, 1abs)
1st Monk & Jones CH WESTFALEN OLEARIA TEAM SPIRIT JW – Medium sized male who is really eye catching in profile. Head is pleasing with good width to skull, lovely ear set and carriage, muzzle is strong and of a good length, almond shaped dark eye. I’d prefer a bit more width between eyes to enhance his expression. Muscular neck leads onto a well-balanced front where his lay of shoulder and return of upper arm enable him to reach well on the move. Stands straight in front showing good width to chest, firm pasterns and tight feet. Top line and undercarriage are firm; rib cage is well-sprung and roomy. Croup is broad and slightly angled, tail set and carriage good. Ample rear angles which he uses well on the move, where strength in hock can be seen. A very sound mover.
2nd Appasamy’s HANBAR JAPP – A raw male who I felt still had some maturing to do. Nice head which is proportioned well, dark almond shaped eye, lovely broad muzzle and large nose with large nostrils. He shows himself off better on the move and towards the end of the class he relaxed more and presented himself better as he can overstretch a little too much which can spoil his outlook. His front angles could be a bit better as he is a little up on pasterns. Body is developing, with rib cage being of a good depth and fair spring of rib. Top line is good and firm. Well off for rear angulation where muscle tone is evident. He moved sound and presented a pleasing picture in profile.
3rd Austen’s AUSRIE’S JABBA THE HUT
Champion Dog (4,1abs)
1st Egerton’s CH BEREYDA THE REAL DEFENDER JW – A substantial male who has super bone and was presented in lovely condition throughout. Head is in proportion, broad skull, arched forehead, strength in jaw, broad muzzle with large black nose, medium ear set well and carried close to cheek, stop is correct, good cheek development, head is finished with a dark eye. Neck is strong. Chest has good width and depth, stands straight in front onto tight feet. Topline is broad and strong, ribcage well sprung, lovely undercarriage where conditioning is also seen. Loin is broad and strong, but just a little too long. Hindquarters display lovely muscle development, good turn of stifle, first thigh is broad, strength continues into lower thigh and strong hocks. Tail set and carriage is correct. A positive mover in all directions, he uses all he has presenting a lovely outline at all times. CC, BOSIS and RBIS.
2nd Mason’s CH ALKIDO’S LUDICROUS – This boy is a lovely robust male who is correctly proportioned throughout. Head has good width to skull, defined stop, cheeks are developed, broad muzzle of good depth and length, medium ear set well and lay close to cheek, dark eye, he gives a handsomely beautiful expression. Neck is muscled and of fair length leading to a well-placed shoulder. Upper arm has a good return and elbows well let down. Stands straight in front onto compact feet. Broad chest of good depth, rib cage is well sprung and of good depth and nice firm under carriage firm. Short firm loin, croup broad with a slight slope. Hindquarters are well muscled nice bend to stifle and strength continues in second thigh. Hocks are strong. When moving for me he shows strength and purpose, where his angles all work as one. Lovely dog who was awarded the RCC.
3rd Cocks – CH JAQARY BLAZE OF GLORY
Veteran Bitch (4, 1abs)
1st Austen’s AUSRIE’S WHIRL WIND – Very nice bitch who has good substance and presented in super condition, coat was lovely. Head is pleasing, strong yet feminine, medium ear carried correct, dark eye, she still has good fill, correct stop and broad muzzle. Neck is strong and muscular. Broad in back with well sprung rib, depth is good and meets a well-placed elbow. Her angles are balanced which can be seen on the move whilst maintaining a firm topline. Movement is free and easy; she has a lovely attitude so good to see that she still enjoys her show days. BVB & BOSVIS
2nd Harwood’s WOLFBASS MUMMA CITA AT KIMIAN – Medium sized bitch with lighter bone. Very pleasing head which is proportioned well, good width of skull, correct ear set, lovely dark eye. Firm condition throughout, rib cage is well sprung and of good depth. Nice width of chest, stands straight in front onto tight feet. Broad and strong loin. Lovely rear angles, where width of first thigh is correct and continues from a correct turn of stifle to strong second thigh. Moved positive in all directions.
3rd Jones & Monk’s CH OLEARIA WESTERN GIRL FROM WESTFALEN
Puppy Bitch (4, 1abs)
1st Sylvester’s TEIGAN MISSOULA – A nice young girl of good size and bone carrying the correct weight for her size, presented in super condition, with lovely markings. Pleasing head with a lovely dark eye, correct stop. Muzzle is of good width and correct length. Medium length of neck leads to a well laid shoulder; topline is straight and continues to a clean slightly sloping croup. Depth of chest is correct and of good width. Hindquarters are moderately angled, hocks are firm. She is at the age where she wasn’t using her angles on the stance, however these can be seen on the move where she used them well. Finished with tight feet. BPB & BPIS
2nd Sutcliffe’s BEREYDA ELARA – Another well boned youngster with plenty of angles fore and aft. Nice head with good proportions, ears slightly smaller than medium but carried well, head is complimented with a dark eye. Lovely neck length leads to her well laid shoulder, topline and undercarriage are good. Slightly angled croup with good tail set and carriage. Hocks are well angulated. Tight feet. Moved out well and gave a nice profile side gait where her angles could be seen to work well together.
3rd Harewell’s TEIGAN MINNASOTA
Junior Bitch (5, 2abs)
1st McGough’s TANEVEN DEE DEE – A nice bitch who on the day was presented in super condition she has lovely deep tan markings. Strong yet feminine head, broad muzzle, with strong jaw, medium ear carried well, broad skull, slightly rounder in eye but dark. Neck is a good length and is firm and clean. Nice width to chest and stands straight in front. Well laid shoulder, strong top line and under carriage, broad back with well sprung rib. Loin is broad and leads to a croup of good width. Stifles are well bent with a broad muscular upper thigh and strong second thigh, hocks are firm. She doesn’t always present herself to show off her virtues, however these are seen on the move where she is moves with purpose and power. I really liked her and short listed her in my final selection for CC & RCC where she pushed hard.
2nd Vadhia’s BLUI OF TORMA HOUSE (Imp SRB) – Medium bitch who is mature in body, rib cage is well sprung and of good depth. Nice width and depth of chest. Pleasing head with correct ear set and carriage, medium brown almond shape eye, muzzle is strong but would like a black nose. Stands on good feet. Nice angles fore and aft which work well on the move where she covers the ground well. Whilst being slightly out of coat she was still in good firm condition.
3rd Jackson & Rogerson’s TANEVEN DELTA
Yearling Bitch (4)
1st Headspeath’s JANTAVIA SHE DRIVES ME CRAZY JW – Well this girl impressed me in many ways. She is very mature for her age, compact and of correct height to length ratio and gives such a clean outline when observed in profile. She stands so natural and is handled well, where free standing is carried out at all times. Head is strong with just enough wrinkle, well placed medium ear, muzzle is broad and deep, jaw is strong, dark flews, correct stop, good cheek development, almond shaped dark eye. Loved her expression. Strong neck of fair length leads well onto a well laid shoulder, return of upper arm is correct which then leads to well let down elbows where depth of chest meets. Stands straight in front, nice angle to pastern and finished with tight feet. Topline is straight and firm, ribcage well sprung, loin broad and firm following on with a lovely croup, tail is set and carried well. Hindquarters mirror her front angles and are also strong with good width to first thigh and strength in second thigh. She moved as I expected her to do with great driving from her rear whilst having that required reach to cover the ground so well with positiveness and without any effort. To complete the picture, she was in lovely coat and with correct markings of deep tan. Pleased to award her CC and BIS
2nd Jackson & Rogerson’s TANEVEN DIXIE JW – Another bitch of good size, bone and substance. She has a lovely expression, good width to skull, ears are just above medium size but are carried well, good filling, muzzle broad and of correct length, dark flews and to complete the look she has the darkest of eyes that draw you in. Well laid-back shoulder, would benefit from a better return of upper arm to give that bit more extension. Strong neck, body is still maturing as would be expected, rib cage is well sprung and of the correct depth, back is broad, strength and maturing is still to come in her flanks. In stance she presents a good picture. Hindquarters are pleasing and have lovely muscle tone throughout, good turn of stifle. Hocks are strong and firm. A sound mover displaying strength and power as she drives off. Complimented by lovey rich tan markings.
3rd Austen’s AUSRIE’S BEAUTIFUL CRAZY
Novice Bitch (2,1abs)
1st Hewitt & Francis’ RAUCHIGROTTS HAUS FINESSE – Overall a pleasing bitch, presented in good condition. Head is well proportioned, ears are carried well, she has the darkest of eyes, broad muzzle with a good stop. Strong muscular neck leads onto a nice front where the lay of shoulder is well laid back, and upper arm has a good return. Good width to chest, stands nicely onto tight feet. Rear angles require more thickness of thigh and strength in hock to give a cleaner move when going away. Nice youngster.
Post Graduate Bitch (7, 4abs)
1st Richards’ RUIZ RUBY RIOT – I really liked this bitch, loved her movement which showed both front and hindquarters working so well together. Her head has the correct proportions, dry skull, larger ear carried correct but would prefer them smaller to give the head a better expression, muzzle has a level top line and is finished with a large black nose with open nostrils, dark flews, and lovely dark almond shaped eye. Strong neck onto her well-placed shoulder, stands well in front, nice angle to pastern and tight feet. Body is mature with good ribcage which is broad and deep, lovely undercarriage, broad and strong in loin and firm flanks. Hindquarters are made up well where her correct turn of stifle enables her broad upper and lower thigh work well allowing her to drive off from her strong hocks. A sound mover who just missed out on my final short list.
2nd Pamplin’s JAQARY KISS FROM A ROSE – An honest bitch who is of medium size and bone. Nice head type, with good skull width, ears not carried as well as could be which detracts the expression, muzzle of correct length, dark flew and black nose, round brown eye. Medium length of neck, balanced front, nice width to chest, stands straight in front onto good feet. Rib cage is well sprung with good depth, croup a little more sloped than is required. Length of first thigh a tad short although of good width and tone, moderately angled stifle. Strong hocks, on the move whilst sound, in profile the shorter upper thigh restricts a full drive through and causes her loin to raise on the move. However, she does make the use of what she has to give a sound movement.
3rd Sutcliffe’s BEREYDA NEW MOON
Limit Bitch (7, 2abs)
1st Lambert’s SEITTOR VOODOO SPELL JW – Another lovely bitch that impressed me on the day. Skull has good width with a moderate arch to forehead, well defined stop, good cheek development, muzzle has good width, length and depth, strong jaw. Medium sized ears set and carried well lying close to cheek which had good development. Her dark eye compliments where she gives a lovely calm expression when attentive with a moderate wrinkle. Muscular round neck leads to a nice front, return of upper arm allows elbows to be well let down, broad chest, stands straight in front, nice angle to pastern with tight feet. Undercarriage is lovely as is top line where this is straight, back is broad, rib cage is well sprung. Hindquarters are put together well, broad and muscular upper thigh, nice turn of stifle, strength continues in second thigh. Hocks are strong and angled well. Her movement is so efficient and soundness is seen in all directions. Turned out in good coat, with correct markings of rich tan. Performed well in the challenge where I was pleased to award her RCC.
2nd Johnson’s WEYSABROOK ALL THAT JAZZ – A nice honest bitch of good size and bone, carrying correct weight with pleasing condition throughout. Head is nice, she has correct proportions her ears are carried well, good expression which is enhanced with a dark eye. Front is put together well, with good width to chest. Feet are tight but nails need attending to give a better look. Body is of good length to height with rib cage well sprung. Ample rear angles which are well developed, in stance she doesn’t show what she has, but once moving she displays a nice gait showing good ground coverage.
3rd Borne’s STARROSA DANCE WITH ME AT TREVEARL
Open Bitch (1)
1st Piggott & Gibbard’s JEZEVE LOVE JUNKIE – A well boned bitch with nice cover throughout. Absolutely love the character on this girl, she definitely made her handler work hard. Head is proportioned well, with a dark almond shaped eye. Ear set and carriage is correct. Well sprung rib cage, strong topline which continues to a broad croup, nice tail set and carriage. Depth to body is correct but undercarriage isn’t as firm. Hindquarters are put together well and she uses them to her advantage on the move. Good feet although nails need attending to give a better look.
Champion Bitch (4, 1abs) – a lovely class to judge
1st Cartwright’s CH STEIGEN SILKY NUTMEG GANASH – What a showgirl she is! Lovely bone and size, striking head which is made up correct, ears are carried close to cheek which have good development, forehead is moderately arched, defined stop, muzzle has strength with level top line, strength in jaw, lovely attentive expression which is complimented by a dark almond shaped eye. Round muscular neck of which is clean and of fair length. Stands well in front onto tight feet. Chest has good width, rib cage is well sprung with good depth, and nice under carriage. Broad and toned loin, lovely croup and tail set which is carried well. Muscular upper and lower thigh with a moderate turn of stifle and well angled hock which are firm. Exuberant on the move where she powers off from her hindquarters, at times a tad too fast. She is so attentive to her handler, a true pleasure to see.
2nd Eyre & Moss’ CH CHANTAVORY JE VOUS AMIE – Good sized bitch with medium bone. Broad skull, correct ear set and carriage, well defined stop, dark almond shaped eye, muzzle of good length, would like a little more cheek development. Topline is firm and continues to nice rear angles that work with her front to give a good side gait covering the ground with purpose. Rib cage is well sprung and of good depth. Chest is broad. Stands on decent feet but nails are a tad long. Croup is slightly sloping with good tail set and carriage. Hocks are firm and allow her to drive off well on the move.
3rd Williams Jones & Monk’s CH WESTFALEN OLEARIA BEST TEAM WITH KIARATAZ JW
Judge: Andrea Maltas ‘Virlees’
