NOTE: This critique is for the PREMIER OPEN SHOW NOT THE CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW 

Thank you to the Houndshow committee for the lovely invitation to judge Basset Griffon Vendeen (Grand) at the open show. I had a super entry so thanks also to the exhibitors who gave me the privilege to go over their hounds today. My stewards Ma (Lesley) Cooper and Mary-Ann for looking after me and ensuring the smooth running of the ring. Lastly, thank you to the BEC Claire Cooper for her hard work and encouragement - it is appreciated.

1 - McGregor’s Goudoulait Du Greffier Du Rio Avec Claela Lovely raw puppy. Slightly longer than tall and balanced overall. Nice femanine head with correct ear set and length. Nice dark eye Na dwel coated with nice eye brows. Good neck into well laid shoulder Legs well under and tight at elbow. Good topline, slight rise over loin. Correct tail set. Moved well and covered the ground, nice elastic movement behind. BPIB

1 - Bayliss’ Tiara Dusza Lesna At Arapelo (IMP POL) 14 month smartly presented hound but very raw still. Nice head piece with good dark eye and ear set. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders. Rounded rib and well back. Slight rise over loin, correct topline and tail set and carriage. Out of coat a little bit today but correct texture present. Nice movement in profile and sound rear quarters.

2 - Meyrick & Thorpe’s Duchess Zingy Danda Bohemia (IMP CZE) 2 year old girl, Nice head with good proportions. Good topline with rise over loin and correct tail set and carriage. Ribbed well back and strong in loin. Good rear and front quarters, moved nicely when settled.

 3 - Bullivant’s Tamiza Dusza Lesna Avec Payguns (IMP POL)

1 - Milton’s Ch Wilmit Jugeote 6 year old bitch of nice balanced proportions throughout, feminine balanced head, good strong neck into well laid shoulders, Nice sternum, ribbed well with back strong loin, correct topline, tailset set and tail carriage. Correct rear, front quarters and depth of chest. Soundest mover in the class, clean coming and going demonstrating elastic movement behind. BOB

2 - Bailey & Yates’ CH/IR CH Tarmachan Ice Cool VW Mature boy of 10, Pleasing masculine and balanced piece with good strong neck into well laid shoulders. Tight at elbow, ribbed well back with good depth of chest. Correct topline and rise over loin, correct tail set and carriage. Sound in front and behind with moderate stifle. Moved well covering the ground and demonstrating elastic movement behind BOS & RBOB

3 - Collier’s Ch Jayanel Alfabeti Spageti

1 - Briant’s Star Catcher From Sufayre Lovely feminine bitch with pleasing head with fairly long muzzle and lovely dark almond shaped eye. Strong jaw and correct bite. Powerful straight topline, muscular in loin. Well angulated behind and compact feet all round. Tail set on low and carried correctly on the move. True fore and aft and sound in profile - she won on her movement. BOB

2 - Graham’s Game Changer for Sufayre Nice masculine dog with lovely head and expression. Nice dark almond eye and strong jaws. Strong neck into well laid back shoulder. Strong level back and strong loin. Tail carried correctly on the move, he moved nicely and powerfully in profile BOS and RBOB
