IRISH SETTERS

My thanks to Richmond Dog Show Society for their kind invitation to judge. This was my first appointment to award CC’s and I had been looking forward to it for a long time. I want to thank the people who entered for my opinion of their lovely dogs. I understand and appreciate the importance of my appointment and valued this opportunity more than words can say. Thank you also for the lovely support of friends ringside, you made my day.

This lovely days memory will remain with me for ever.

VETERAN DOG (1,0)

1st. REDCLYST PERSHING Henderson & Szwajkowski Miss H, Mr M

Balanced head, a little work to foreface, correct eye colour and shape with good pigment. Enough stop and brow with correct ear set. Moderate length of neck into well laid shoulders, ample pro sternum and has good bone. Neat, tidy feet and decent spring of rib.Good muscle tone throughout, moved ok.

JUNIOR DOG (3,0)

1st. SAMETSUZ SPEAKS VOLUMES Henderson Miss M

A very handsome young dog, with correct parallel head planes, lovely work to fore face, correct eye shape with dark pigment. Decent stop and talkative brows. Correct ear set and moderate length of neck with that most important crest, leading into well laid shoulders. Good depth of chest, for one so young, and with good bone with neat feet. Balanced throughout with a super spring of rib, good muscular loin and good width of first and second thigh. Presented in excellent coat. Moved well.

2nd. CAFOALIENA PLAY WITH FIRE Hardy Miss C

Pleasing head, good dentition, correct eye shape and colour, enough stop and brow. Correct ear set. Would have preferred a little more length of neck. Has good bone and decent feet. Good spring of rib, well muscled but would prefer a slightly better tail set. In good coat and condition. Moved ok.

1st. WHIRELY WHOOP FOR MILTONSHIRE Westbrook Ms J

Pleasing in head, balanced with dark eye of correct shape with good stop and nice raised brow. Stands on good bone with tight, neat feet. Pleasing forehand and shoulder angles. Ample spring of rib, good length in loin. Enough width to quarters and good bend of stifle. Well muscled. Pleasing rear assembly with good tail set. In excellent coat and condition. Moved with enthusiasm and some style. 

2nd. HENALEAS GO WEST AT TEIGNESTUARY Full Miss S

Pleasing expression, correct eye colour and shape, enough stop and decent brow. Has good bone with neat feet. In good coat and muscular condition. Moved ok.

LIMIT DOG (4,0) Nice class of males, albeit of varying styles.

1st. BARDONHILL MCINTOSH RED AT MONTGREENAN JW Richardson Miss LH & Mr J Mrs L.

This boy had some really lovely features. He is strong, yet racy and has the desired correct slope to his top line and excellent tailset. A well balanced dog on the whole with a very pleasing balanced head. Good dentition, correct eye shape and colour. Enough work in his fore face and good stop. Ample brow and correct ear set. Moderate length of neck leading into well laid shoulders. Good in forehand and has good bone with tidy feet. Excellent spring and length of rib extending to his strong, muscular loin. Good width of first and second thigh, with good bend of stifle. Good tailset. Presented here today in full mature coat and in fine muscle. Moved well, pleased to have awarded him the CC today. 

2nd KERRYFAIR ZOOM IN ON PAWSWORD Kolbach Ms L

This dog pushed my winner all the way. He is from a smaller mould but nonetheless he has many appealing attributes. I particularly liked his balanced, handsome head which has dark eyes of correct shape. He has a good stop and very nicely raised brows. He’s got a soft but mischievous look at times. Correct ear set with good length of neck. Shoulders well laid back and ample chest. In excellent bone and neat tidy feet. Good spring and length of rib, good width to first and second thigh. Well muscled throughout and moved well. He has much appeal too.

1st ShCh ALOLFRANA ALL I ASK OFEVEANDABEC JW Ms R Danks

A lovely classy dog with all his virtues staring me in the face, balanced both in head and conformation, thought this was going to be my winner. Strong, solid gentle slope to his top line. He has a very nice head with a generous amount of work to the fore face, correct in eye colour and shape. Good stop and enough brow. Correct ear set and moderate length of neck. Excellent front assembly with good pro sternum, really good bone and neat feet. Good spring of rib, enough width to first thigh, although I’d prefer just a shade more width in second thigh. Decent bend of stifle and correct tail set. Presented in full coat and well conditioned. He was just not on his game today and slightly unsteady on the move giving his handler a little bit of a hard time, but he had done enough to have me award him RDCC. I liked him very much for type.

2nd REDCLYST PASHA Henderson, Szwajkowski Miss H & Mr M

Pleasing head, correct eye colour and shape, enough stop and brow. Correct ear placement, moderate length of neck, slightly upright in shoulder and would have liked a little more in front. He’s ok for bone. Decent spring of rib and in good coat. Would have preferred more muscular condition on this exhibit. Moved ok.

VETERAN BITCH (2,1)

1st. BRIDGELLA’S DON’T PUSH IT Bridgewater Goddard Mr W & Mrs D, Miss L

A lovely headed bitch who has a nice dark eye of good shape. Well pigmented. Enough stop with good raised brow. Correct ear set, good length of neck leading to a decent lay back of shoulder. Reasonable return of upper arm. She has good bone, feet could be slightly tidier. Good depth, spring and length of rib. She has good muscle for her age , nicely managed by her owners. Also she is in full coat. She moved nicely with good attitude. BVIB

PUPPY BITCH (2,0)

1st. DAISYCUTTER CROWNEDBYFIRE Bryant Miss S

A very well proportioned bitch with a balanced head, correct head planes and she had some work to the fore face. Dark in eye and it’s correct unshelled almond shape, enough stop and brow. Correct ear set and length of neck leading into well laid shoulders. Decent front and in good bone . Tidy, neat feet. Enough spring of rib, good width of first and second thigh. Still young and should fall into her stifle later on. Correct tail set and moved well. In good coat and handled expertly. Awarded BPIB and pleased to see she made the shortlist in a strong puppy group.

2nd REDCLYST GLENURY AOIFE Pike Mr D & Mrs P

Another pretty young bitch with good eye shape and colour. Pleasing stop and brow. Correct ear set. Lovely length of neck with a slight crest. Decent lay back of shoulder and enough filling in front. In good bone with neat tidy feet. Again enough spring of rib and in good muscular condition. Correct tail set and good coat. I think the occasion got to her but she redeemed herself whilst on the move. She moved well.

Small class of quality bitches. I liked all three immensely.

1st SAMETSUZ SO TO SPEAK Sketchley Mrs L

A lovely example from this long established kennel. Balanced, racy, and had quality in abundance. Very pretty with correct head proportions. A beautiful dark eye of correct shape. Enough stop and nicely raised brow. Correct ear set and good length of neck. Shoulders well laid back, a fore chest that filled my hand already, for one so young. She has enough bone with neat tidy feet. Good spring of rib and muscled loin. Good bend of stifle with nice short rear pasterns. Good croup with correct tail set. She already has a thick, abundant lush coat. Moved well. Pleased to award her RBCC today.

2nd SAMETSUZ SPEAK IN CODE Henderson Miss.

 Litter sister to 1, this beautiful wee girl has lovely work to the fore face, so very pretty, she melts you with her dark eyes. Correct head planes, enough stop and brow. Pleasing ear placement. She is so balanced and racy with gentle sloping top line. Moderate length of neck which leads into well laid shoulders. Plenty of fore chest and has enough bone. She has lovely neat, tight feet. Good spring of rib and muscular loin. Already she has good width to first and second thigh and good bend of stifle. She was in excellent muscular condition throughout and was very well presented. Moved well, a slower maturer than her sister.

3rd CAFOTALIENA LADY IN RED Hardy Miss C

Another lovely girl who has the most appealing head. She’s a lovely size and shape and has a nice racy outline. Well made and moved well. I liked her very much too.

Pretty wee girl, dark eyes of correct shape with dark pigment. Enough stop and brow with correct ear set also. Good length of neck. Just a shade tied in front. Enough rib. In decent coat and ok muscular wise. Slightly nervous today but still did what was asked for.

1st CORRANROO WINTER MOON OVER CAERVISTA Vincent Miss & Mr TM, J

Pretty headed girl, with nice dark eye and correct shape. Enough stop and brow. Correct ear set. Would like a little more length of neck. Slightly upright in shoulder but has enough return of upper arm. Well ribbed back to firm loin. In good bone with neat feet. In good coat, moved ok

2nd PENCLIPPIN CELTIC ARIA Childs Miss J

 Difficulty in assessing this bitch as she would not stand correctly. Pretty in head, in decent enough coat, nice ribbing, enough quarters. On the away she was a little close behind but coming towards was ok.

POST GRADUATE BITCH (2,0)

1st BRIDGELLAS JUBILEE QUEEN JW. Bridgewater & Goddard Mr W, Mrs D & Miss L

Very pleasing head, nice bit of work to the foreface, lovely dark eye and expression. Enough stop and brow, correct ear set. Moderate length of neck with good lay back of shoulder. She has ample pro sternum and is good in bone. Feet could be slightly tidier though. Good spring of rib and strong loin.Well muscled throughout. Good croup and tail set. A pleasing girl who was well handled . Moved well.

2nd. ZAKHANS SKY DANCER DEL MACARICA Allum Mrs RJ

Pleasant bitch, nice dark eye and good shape. Correct ear set and correct length of neck. Enough front, good ribs and decent quarters. She has good bone with tidy feet. Moved ok.

1st ALOLFRANA ELECTRA Danks & Kniveton Ms R, Mrs J

What a lovely young lady she is. She is very much my style of girl. She has it all going on. I loved her racy look, her true balance and her sloping top line and correct tailset. She is such a pretty girl, very balanced in profile and also in head. She has a long lean head with good amount of work to her foreface, melting expression with her dark, well pigmented eyes of correct unshelled almond shape. Pleasing stop and inquisitive brows. Correct head planes and ear set. Moderate length of neck leading into well laid shoulders. Lovely forehand and deep chest. She has excellent bone with neat tidy feet. Excellent spring and depth of rib and muscular loin. Good width of first and second thigh. Very nice bend of stifle and short in rear pasterns. Good croup and tail set. Moved with reach and drive and good out and back too. She maintains her outline as she goes. I was really pleased to award her BCC and BOB today. I’m sure she has a very bring future.
