Suffolk Kennel Association

Breed: Working Breeds and Group

Thank you to the Officers and Committee of the Association for asking me to judge Working breeds and group, I had a lovely day. Thank you also to the exhibitors for their entries and to my steward, Cheryl, who kept my ring running smoothly.
I haven’t commented much on the coats of the coated breeds as almost every exhibit was out of coat given the recent hot weather!

1st Hurren’s Debbollinby Kandy Floss at Shaleodust – 23 mth bitch, good sized feminine head with correct mask, nicely shaped eye, correct bite. Would prefer a little more length of neck but has good forechest and depth of brisket. Well proportioned body, level topline held well on the move. Could have a touch more bend of stifle. Moved well all around. RBOB

2nd Goodchild’s Debbollinby Kandy Kane – 23 mth bitch, good head very similar to 1, good shape and colour of eye, nice flow of neck into withers. Well angulated front, not the forechest of 1. A little longer cast than 1 and not as bodied up at this stage. Well muscled all through. Movement a little erratic coming and going but good in profile.

1st Dalison & Hurren’s Shaleodust Got To Be There – 4 yr old bitch, feminine head of good proportions, lovely expression with dark, well placed eye. Nice forechest and well angulated front and rear, correct body proportions, good topline with gentle slope to croup. Feet could be tighter. A bit reluctant on the move but good, even steps when she got going. BOB

1st Blahuta’s Daybreaker’s You Give Me The Shivers (Imp Pol) – 2 yr old dog, good sized dog, would prefer a little more bone, masculine head with good width of muzzle, dark eye and well placed ears, a little loose in flew. Good flow of neck to topline which was level and held well on the move. Excellent muscle tone all round, moved OK in profile but a little wayward behind going away BOB

Rottweiler
P (2,1)
1st Gauron & Viners Javladare Heart Goes Boom – 11 mth dog, loved this boy as soon as he came into the ring, considered for BOB but had to give way to maturity and movement. Very pleased to see him go through to RBPIS. Head masculine with correct 2 to 3 proportions and developing nicely, lovely expression, deep muzzle with good stop. Excellent body proportions with deep chest, correct angulation front and rear, very well muscled. Enthusiastic on the move but regular and powerful once settled. Thrilled to see him go RBPIS later in the day RBOB BP, PG1 & RBPIS

J (2,0)
1st Hewitt & Francis’ Afaia Vom Hause Rilci (Imp Bgr) – 15 mth bitch, feminine head with good width of muzzle, well set ears, good colour and shape to eye. Adequate forechest, good front angulation, a touch long in body for balance and a little tucked up underneath today. Well muscled with regular movement.
2nd Hewitt & Francis’ Princess Isla – 16 mth bitch, nice head of good width, ears a little large but well set. Deep brisket but not the forechest of 1. Nice body proportions but at present her topline rises a little. Moved out well both in profile and coming and going.

PG (1,0)
1st Hewitt & Francis’ Bruna Royalberg (Imp Bih) – 22 mth bitch, feminine head, a little narrower in muzzle, lovely expression. Good forechest and front angulation, level topline. Good body proportions, would prefer a touch more bend of stifle. Moved well in profile with an easy flow.

O (1,0)
1st Vanson’s Pasko du Temple D’Adranos von Tiesto (Imp Fra) ShCEX – almost 6 yr dog, no mistaking the gender of this typey male, masculine, well balanced head with good muzzle depth and width. Dark, well placed eye and good sized, neat ears. Adequate forechest, plenty of bone, to be picky I would prefer a touch more length of neck but he has a good flow into a level topline held well on the move. Well muscled and excelled in movement both in profile and coming and going. BOB, WG1

Siberian Husky
J (3,1)
1st Simms’ Arcticskies Warrior Queen – 1 yr bitch, attractive feminine head of good proportions, lovely expression with good eye placement, well sized ears which she used well. Nicely arched neck with a good flow into topline, a touch ‘bum high’ at present. Lovely body proportions with nice angles front and rear and well let down hock. Moved really well in all directions, flowing and positive. As with most exhibits today she didn’t have much undercoat but has a really good topcoat. RBOB

2nd Davies’ Nesslands Acer Base – 11mth dog, good head proportions but would prefer a touch more depth to stop, lovely almond eye. Good length of neck flowing into a level topline, body proportions developing. Moved well. One that seems to have kept his undercoat! BP PG2

PG (1,0)
1st Simms’ Seaqualina Echo of Light at Arcticskies JW – 15 mth dog, lovely masculine head of good proportions, lovely earset and used them well, good width and depth to chest, slightly arched neck into level topline to slightly sloping croup. Nice angles all around and well muscled, flowing, smooth but active movement. BOB WG3

P (1,0)
1st Driver & Goodchild’s Pelham Dreams Yellow Ribbon Around Kingsfleet – 9 mth BMD bitch, nicely grown youngster, feminine head with well defined stop, dark eye. Carrying a little extra weight today which made her appear short on the leg but body and brisket proportions are correct. Good movement coming and going but a little short in stride in profile. In good coat and nicely marked. BAVNSCP PG3

J (1,0)
1st Jelley’s Kenleap Calicite – 17 mth DDB bitch, feminine head of good width with moderate wrinkle, well filled under eye and lovely earset. Good eye colour not showing haw, tight lips on a square jaw. Well muscled all through, well proportioned body with a slight rise to loin, lacks a little forechest. Would prefer a touch more bend of stifle. She was not enthusiastic on the move, possibly due to the heat, but had regular movement once she got going.

1st Herring’s Bel Ch Womlu Worth the Wait with Heffalump Lux/Nld JCH DJW24 BW24 – 2 yr old Mastiff, good sized dog with a fabulous, well proportioned head of good width, lovely ear set, moderate wrinkle. Well muscled all through, good depth of brisket and spring of rib. Moved with power but suffered a little in the heat when it came to the group and wasn’t as enthusiastic. Well handled! BAVNSC WG2

2nd Smith’s Ir Ch/Int/Swiss Sh Ch Oldeely Hope and Glory Ir JCH – 3 yr old PWD bitch, lovely head, good stop and length of muzzle. Level topline but would prefer more depth to chest, good angulation front and rear. Moved quite well, well presented. RBAVNSC

1st Porter & Bowser’s Araucaria Cornus Sanguinea (AI) – 6 yr old Bullmastiff dog, good sized masculine, dark brindle dog, square head, a touch short in muzzle. Well arched, strongly muscled neck flowing into level topline which he held on the move. Strong, well muscled rear. Moved well in all directions, would have liked to see him in the breed class….

V (4,1) a lovely class of veterans, all a credit to their owners, they gave me the biggest headache of the day to choose my winner!

1st Simms’ Arcticskies Artful Dodger at Spiritmist JW WWP18 Ambiortrixtrofee19 – 7 yr Siberian Husky dog, fabulous masculine head, well set ears, dark, obliquely set eye, super length of neck flowing into well laid shoulders. A touch long in body, well angulated front and rear. Fantastic, flowing, active movement. BAV Vet

2nd Brown’s Ch Chepam Xiomara VW – 9 yr BDF bitch, strong but feminine head of good proportions, ears a little wayward but of good size. Dark, well set eye with a super expression. Good forechest and correct length of neck, well proportioned square body, still has good muscle tone. Steady even movement but not as flowing as 1. Coat of fabulous construction and condition.
