IRISH SETTERS.

PUPPY (2, 1abs)

1st Mutch’s Astleyview Crimson Moon. BOB. BP. PG1.

9 month old bitch teeming with quality, of racy appearance, has substance with femininity. Pleasing well presented coat of rich chestnut, excellent condition, gleaming with health and cleanliness. Loved her head, balanced shape, obvious occiput, dark expressive eye, open nostrils. Clean neck of good length, sloping shoulders, protruding breastbone, deep chest of about a hand’s width, straight front legs, small neat feet. Ribs still need to spring more but this will come with maturity, would just prefer an inch less length of loin, ideal top line slopes down slightly from withers to well set on tail. Good sweep from hip to hock, well bent stifle. A little untidy when moving away today, but lovely and straight coming towards, excellent in profile, true footfall, very good reach and drive. Was impressed with the way the handler made full use of the ring.

JUNIOR (1, 0 abs)

1st Gill’s Cararua Pearl of Fortune.

Just over 12 months of age, this well balanced male had many attractive properties, a beautifully presented coat and super bone. Appealing head built on parallel lines, quality features. Muscular neck flowing to adequate lay back of shoulder and very good return to upper arm. Well sprung ribs reaching well back, pleasing length from stifle to hock, well bent stifles, short strong hind pasterns. Chest was nice and deep, but wider than I would have liked, and his front movement was a tad untidy. Did not have the same reach or drive as some, was sympathetically handled.

POST GRADUATE (1, 0 abs)

1st Bardonhill That’s Alright at Delsanto. RBOB.

Attractive in profile and in hard condition, this male appealed in many ways. At just 20 months of age he has lots of time to fill out and to deepen, but examining him today he deserved his 1st prize. Really lovely masculine head, skull and muzzle in proportion, obvious brows, kind eye. Enough lay back of shoulder, adequate bone, obvious sinews, strong tight feet. Excelled in depth and length of rib cage, firm loin, long from hip to hock. Pleasing texture to his clean coat, lovely deep colour. Movement was a bit erratic today.
