NORTHERN COUNTIES CHIHUAHUA CLUB SUB-GROUP OPEN SHOW

Sunday 2nd March 2025

Firstly, many thanks to the committee of Northern Counties Chihuahua Club for inviting me to judge the Smooth Coats at the Sub-group open show on the 2nd March 2025. Also, thank you to all who entered for accepting my placements with grace. I enjoyed my day and the kind hospitality provided.

It was a pleasure to see such a great turnout and to witness the high standard of entries. Each participant showcased their dogs with great enthusiasm and dedication, making the judging experience both enjoyable and challenging. I will just add a minor observation that many dogs were ‘tabled’ with forelegs forward and not under the shoulder.

I would like to extend my gratitude to the volunteers and organizers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the event ran smoothly. Your efforts did not go unnoticed, and your commitment to creating a welcoming and efficient environment is greatly appreciated.

Veteran Dog (1,1)

1. Mrs L M Evans’s Ritagold Ice Warrior at Lemaritz ShCM. 9yrs7mth. Cream. A remarkable example of the breed for his age. Movement shows no indication he’s a veteran. Classic head and eye, good length of neck leading to a super straight topline. Good tail carriage. Nice to see a happy, sprightly older boy. BVIB

MPD (4,2)

1. Mrs D Fothergill’s Diamonchi Italian Stallion. 8mth. Cream. This pup has a remarkable and mature side profile outline when stationary which is seriously eye catching. Strong pigment and large dark eyes, super domed head and ears that flare at the correct angle. A fabulous front construction, top line and tail. A little immature in his behaviour but adds to his character. A happy puppy. BD. BPD. BPIS.

2. Mrs L M Evan’s Lemaritz To Infinity. 8mth. Red Sable. What a pretty headpiece and large dark eyes. Correct earset. A nicely constructed front end. Very settled in his movement. I suspect will mature into a fine little dog.

PD (4,3)

1. Mrs D Fothergill’s Diamonchi Italian Stallion. 8mth. Cream. See MPD.

2. Mr S J Rooney’s Copymear Caught In The Act. 9mth. Gold and white. What a pretty boy with striking ears and good pigment. Throws a mature, correct outline and good movement front and rear. First placed just had the edge.

JD (5,2)

1. Heap and Palmer’s Rudy Ruby 13 mth. Red. An attractive boy with a feisty character. Large eyes and a lovely domed skull. Ears set at the correct angle. Body in good proportions, super front. Nice sickle tail.

2. N Alexander’s Alderxena Pocket Rocket. 17mth Red sable. Another super head and neck. Good straight forelegs and good angulation in the rear legs. Moved sprightly around the ring.

ND (2,1)

PGD (3,2)

1. N Alexander’s Alderxena Pocket Rocket. See second place JD.

2. D Entwistle’s Dorenty’s Arfa Sixpence. Fawn. 2yrs. Good front and top line with lovely straight movement. Nails perhaps a tad long just setting him back on his heels a little. Good coat texture.

Limit D (2,2)

1. Mr H Stading’s Toltechi’s Dante Le Poete JW. Black Tri. 15mth. Has matured well since I saw him as a baby. Such an attractive head with large eyes and good dentition with strong jaw. Good length of neck leading to a level top line. Movement is very even away and toward. Happy ring presence. RBOB

2. N Alexander’s Alderxena Ruler Of A Kingdom. Red. 17mth. Super active little dog. Nice head, good stop and dentition. Level top line. Straight front with good depth of chest. Good muscle tone in rear thighs.

OD (2,1)

1. Mrs L Stading’s Stadmeyer Dashing Dexter JW. Blue fawn. 3 yrs. A classic apple head with good pigment. Large eyes, defined stop and good dentition. A beautifully balanced dog on the move due to being well constructed. Lovely tail carriage and responsive to handler.

VB (2,1)

1. Mrs L Humphrey’s Amarantos Cassini JW. 7yrs. Cream. An excellent example of a mature Chihuahua. Movement gives little indication of age, as sprightly as a much younger dog. Good straight topline and happy personality. BV. RBB.

MPB (8,6)

1. Mrs D Fothergill’s Moltobello Miss Moonston At Diamonchi. 9mth. Blue Fawn. A super pretty girl with large ears at the right angle. Big round eyes. Moved swiftly around the ring with enough elevation to seriously catch the eye. Great level topline and tailset.

JB (2,2)

1. Hartley & Fahey’s Zoomera West End Girl. 13mth. Blue Fawn. Good apple head with large eyes and definite stop. Straight front legs and dainty feet. Fluent movement with topline remaining level on the move. Sweet natured.

2. Mrs P A Wills’s Paulwilchi Polist Irene. 16mth. Black Tri. A small example of the breed with a very pretty head. Another with good dentition. Quite nervous, making observations difficult.

NB (4,2)

1. Mrs L Humphrey’s Amarantos Oriana. 10mth. Red. A pretty outgoing little dog, very happy to be at a show. Brisk on the move. Well let down hocks providing good drive. Level topline. Good length of muzzle and large ears.

2. Mrs L Humphries’s Amarantos Celeste. 10mth. Cream. Sibling of first placed dog. Super apple head, large dark eyes and well placed large ears. A really nice example of the breed which I would love to see once she’s over her nervousness.
