Thank you to my steward Debbie Anstead for doing a super job of keeping me to time in the ring, and to the committee for their welcome and hospitality. Dogs were turned out in super condition, and there were some very difficult decisions. Thank you, as always for your support. It never goes taken for granted and it is always so appreciated.

Hungarian Vizsla

Puppy (7,3)

1 Challis’ Vizslanya Sarkany. Thought this was a nice youngster, despite being a little heavy in head for me. Wouldn’t want him any bigger. He was the best mover out of all the puppies in this class. Really liked his length of neck, which flows nicely into well-set shoulders. He’s put together well in front with straight forelegs, neat, tight feet and elbows sitting close to his body. There’s good depth to his chest and his ribs are coming on well for his age, carrying back into a strong loin. Shown in great, hard condition and he made the most of it on the move, driving around the ring confidently from his well-muscled quarters. Handled well.

2 Priestley’s Eltrim Shooting Star. Although a little unsettled on the move, this youngster showed great promise. Finer throughout than first place but still balanced. Good length of neck and pleasing shoulders. Good topline and angulation in the rear, with well-developing muscletone. Has plenty of time to grow and mature as time is on their side. Moved ok but could be steadier.

Junior (5,3)

1 Carter’s Lindenwood Cast A Spell At Madarkutya. Really liked this young chap for size, balance and overall picture. His handler was flustered as she was late to the show due to a road closure, but he settled well and calmly, holding his own in this class. Could do with being moved on a fraction longer stride to show more reach and drive. A really attractive headpiece with a lovely expression and pleasing overall balance. In excellent, hard muscular condition and you could easily imagine him out working. Shows a moderate stop, well-shaped skull and low-set, correctly carried ears of good length, along with well-developed nostrils. His neck flows cleanly into well-laid shoulders, with a firm, level topline and a strong loin. Good angulation behind with well let-down hocks.

2 Challis’ Vizslanya Sarkany

Post Graduate (8,1)

1 Newton’s Nevedith Thunder Bolt. This boy really stood out for me. A very typical example of the breed. He’s exactly where he should be for his age, showing pleasing balance throughout and carrying a masculine head with a lovely expression. His eye is correct for shape and colour, complemented by well-set ears. A clean neck flows into good shoulders, he holds a firm topline with strength through the loin, and finishes with a well-set, correctly carried tail. Could have done with a larger ring today to show off his movement. I thought he was lovely, and really pushed for BOB. Delighted to award RBOB.

2 Adams’ Vizash Elenk At Jamzco. Another beautiful example. Head well proportioned and noble in appearance with moderate stop, medium sized eyes and well developed nostrils. Ears set low and carried well. Strong neck leading into correctly placed shoulders. Carries medium bone with good depth through the chest and well sprung ribs. Short backed with strength through the loin. Rear well-muscled with moderate angulation and good second thigh. Covered the ground with good reach and drive. Handled so well to get the best out of her and turned out in good condition. Pushed hard for 1st place.

Open (6,3)

1 Elliott’s Vizslanya Pafrany at Zinniaviz. I fell in love with this girl as soon as she entered the ring. Exactly what the standard calls for. A very pleasing overall picture, showing elegance while still retaining strength and substance, so balanced and honest. Good depth through the chest, well-ribbed back and good angulation and muscle tone in the rear. Shown in excellent condition, with a real richness to her coat. She was handled so well to get the best out of her, and floated around the ring. I couldn’t take my eyes off her and she was very deserving of BOB. Delighted to see she went BIS3 under a breed specialist at the end of the day.

2 Harper’s Pitswarren Tempus Viator. Another lovely example, and just preferred the overall picture of 1 today. I think he would look excellent in a larger ring where he can show off his stride. He has good proportions in the head. Neck strong and muscular, flowing into well placed shoulders. Body shows good depth of chest with a short, firm loin and level back. Good angulation in rear. Once settled into his stride he held his outline well in profile, maintaining a steady topline. He was handled well to get the best out of him.

Italian Spinone

Junior (1,0)

1 Blanchard’s Osulf Peanuts Barney. A strongly built dog with good substance and overall construction. Masculine head developing well for age, with a dark eye that gives a kind, intelligent expression. Strong, muscular forequarters with well-laid shoulders flowing into a powerful neck. Front legs straight with good bone and neat feet. Good depth through the body with a firm, level topline that he maintained well on the move when settled, finishing with a good tailset. Shown in excellent muscular condition.

Open (4,1)

1 Beecham and Sharp’s Affilato Jump With Style at Rydonmist. Still such a youngster but has so much quality – a bit like a box of frogs when he first started moving, but handled so well to get the best out of him. When he settled he showed a loely flowing and driving trot. For me he had the best of heads, with good proportion and eyes that had a melting expression. Presents a lovely outline. Good strength of neck leading into correctly placed shoulders. Carries good bone and neat feet. Well balanced overall with a firm topline and correct tail carriage. Delighted to award BOB.

2 Sh Ch Inostricani Palmina Del Macarica JW ShCM. Such a classical IS and loved her overall balance. Totally rustic and oozes breed quality. Can hardly believe she is 11 years old and still looks like she does. What a credit to her owner. Feminine head with gentle expression, enhanced by correctly coloured eyes and good strength of muzzle. Strong neck leading into a pleasing forequarters. Good body with quality texture to the coat. Well-made hindquarters. On the move she held her topline and covered the ground well. RBOB.

Welsh Springer Spaniel

Puppy (1,0)

1 Dunne’s Highslade Edge of Glory. Lovely youngster that shows plenty of promise. A slightly taller dog who still needs time to develop and fill out, but time is very much on his side. Attractive head with well-shaped eyes and a pleasing expression. Ears correctly set and carried, with a well-finished muzzle. Good in neck and shoulders with good depth of brisket. Moved well. BP.

Junior (2,1)

1 Dunne’s Highslade Edge of Glory

Post Graduate (4,2)

1 Cooper and Mullin’s Gilstonia Maggie May. What an excellent mover! Just ate up the ring and couldn’t take my eyes off her. A most attractive girl who looks lovely on the stack, just as she does on the move. Nicely chiselled feminine head carried on a long neck, flowing into well-constructed shoulders. Good forechest and a straight, true front assembly. Stands on very good feet. Good proportions through the body and showed off a true driving action to secure BOB.

2 Levy’s Cerysan Limited Edition. Another lovely example of the breed who showed well, and was turned out in excellent condition. Masculine head with attractive dark eyes. Neck of reasonable length leading into a good forehand with evident forechest. Straight front with good bone. Mature body with a firm topline and well angled rear. On the move he was sound and positive, showing good drive. Today I preferred the overall picture and balance of 1.

Open (4,2)

1 Cooper’s Gilstonia Snow Moon. Understand she is the mother to my BOB winner, and clear to see where the breed type comes from. Many of the qualities of BOB apply. A pleasing head and expression. Neck set well into good shoulders. Correct width through the chest with a straight front assembly. Firm topline with a slight rise over the loin. Good feet. Moved well. RBOB.

2 Tew’s Pamicks Dream With Me. This bitch gives a very pleasing overall picture, combining femininity with sufficient substance. She has a gentle, typical expression with a good eye and well proportioned head. Her presentation was excellent, with coat and condition both very good. She carried and used her tail well, adding to her overall balance. Moved with freedom and purpose, remaining true and sound. Today I preferred the overall type of 1.
