1 Woodcock’s Glengamna Malbec. 14m Hungarian Vizsla who was giving his handler a hard time. Lovely head of appealing type, clean and refined with a well-balanced muzzle and kind, expressive eyes. Strong neck leading into a nicely made front with good bone and tidy, arched feet. Covered the ground with ease. RESERVE BEST AVNSC.
2 Wood’s Carnlochan Material Girl. Another nice young Hungarian Vizsla. Similar comments to first place apply, but just appearing a little tall in the leg at the moment which should come with maturity. Would prefer more return of upper arm. Lovely head proportions and expressive eyes, good strong neck and ribbed back. Handled well.

1 Hewett Blue Jewel’s Garvin (Imp Che). Energetic, outgoing young male with plenty of presence. Masculine head of pleasing proportions, dark, intelligent eyes, and a strong neck leading into straight, well-boned forelegs. Still maturing and has a little more to fill out, but nicely put together with a short loin and well-turned stifles. Full of enthusiasm on the move, giving his handler a bit of a workout, so difficult to assess.

1 Middleton and Mayhew’s Arnac Bay Jellicoe JW. Lovely two year old Chesapeake Bay Retriever who I have judged as a youngster and it’s a pleasure to see her now she is maturing. She has wonderful balance fore and aft, and looks a picture on the stack. Broad head with a gentle stop, medium eyes of good colour, and strong, powerful jaws. Muscular neck leading into well-laid shoulders and straight, well-boned forelegs with firm pasterns and neat, tight feet. Deep through the brisket with well-sprung ribs and a solid topline. Hindquarters strong and well-muscled with a good bend of stifle and excellent second thigh. Moved out with purpose, showing plenty of reach and drive. In great coat and condition. BEST AVNSC.
AV Imported Register Gundog
1 Dando’s Stormdancer Romance. Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer. Stood alone in the classes but a worthy best of breed. Strong, clean neck leading into well-laid shoulders and a deep, powerful body. Shown in great coat and condition, with the correct texture that gives her a proper, workmanlike look. Firm, level topline both standing and on the move. Covered the ground with purpose and balance, showing reach and drive throughout. A sound, honest bitch and well deserved BEST IMPORT.

1 Carter’s Staffordshire King. Lovely exuberant lad who was loving his time in the ring, definitely full of character and showing off that true Brittany personality. Would prefer less length in body to give an overall squarer, cobbier impression. Nice head proportions with good earset and expressive eyes. Good topline and lovely tight feet. Moved well. Shown in excellent muscular condition, could see him doing a day’s work. BEST OF BREED.

1 Dighton’s Amidala Cosmopolitan at Evaluna. Very bouncy youngster who was difficult to assess on the move. Finer in bone but still possesses lovely qualities. Loved her melting expression and head proportions, dark correctly shaped eye. Good rear angulation and width of thigh, with nice tight feet. When settled on the move she showed glimpses of good reach, but just needs to tidy up in rear. Best of luck in the future.

1 Richards’ Lagopusmoor Aniken. Black dog – masculine throughout and gives the impression he could do a day’s hard work in the field. Thought he was in excellent muscular condition. Well-developed young male showing maturity in head, with a balanced length of muzzle and a kind, expressive eye. Strong through the neck, leading into a nicely made front with a good forechest and a good return of upper arm.
2 Key’s Orchidstar Time to Chime. On type this girl was the winner of the class for me, she was everything I look for, but she really did not want to move! Such a shame as she is very balanced and looks a real picture in the line-up. A feminine bitch with a lovely, refined head and balanced proportions. Good length of muzzle and well-set ears. Neck of pleasing length leading to a firm, level topline. Nicely angulated fore and aft, standing on strong, well-boned legs with neat, tight feet.

1 Peebles’ Seasham Too Much Heaven JW. Thought this girl was a real find. Beautifully handled and an absolute delight to watch. Ultra-feminine bitch with a graceful, balanced outline and a lovely head complemented by dark, expressive eyes. Good front with good depth of chest and well-sprung ribs. Her neck flows seamlessly into the topline, giving a picture of elegance and strength. Well-muscled throughout with powerful hindquarters, she moved around the ring with ease and freedom, showing excellent reach and drive. Delighted to award her G2. BEST OF BREED.
2 Mewse’s Allezweck Toccoa at Krimshar. Larger in type and build all over, but still masculine throughout. He has good angulation fore and aft, moved well and at one with his handler. He showed good stride length and drive from behind. He had good depth of chest and is well-ribbed, with good muscling in the hindquarters. RESERVE BEST OF BREED.

1 Braine’s Chilternway Allium. Very raw but lovely baby enjoying his time. Good length of body in proportion to height, with impressive shoulders and a well-constructed front. Strong bone and nicely sprung ribs, standing on good feet that will tighten further with maturity. Firm topline held on the move, covering the ground with ease and showing very good paces for his age. BEST OF BREED, BEST PUPPY.

1 Middleton & Mayhew’s Sh Ch/Int Ch/Multi Ch Arnac Bay Hebe WGC ShCEx (Chesapeake Bay Retriever). An absolute pleasure to judge this beautiful bitch. So well balanced and full of quality, she covers the ground effortlessly with a long, reaching stride which is true coming and going, and a powerful, flowing profile movement. Lovely head with a gentle expression and moderate stop. Well-constructed front with correctly placed shoulders, excellent bone, and plenty of substance without heaviness. Deep, well-developed body, firm through the topline, and standing on the best of feet. A standout performer and a joy to watch.
2 Beasley’s Wansleydale Amaretto at Latjeata (English Setter). Shown in superb condition, clearly the result of excellent care and presentation. Feminine and refined in head, with soft, expressive eyes that really captivate you. She shows a beautiful outline, balanced and flowing, holding a strong topline as she moves. Lovely bend of stifle and smooth, ground-covering stride that is so graceful and typical of the breed.
AV Gundog Special Beginner Stakes (15,6)
1 Sainsbury’s Elskerwoo Cloudy Skies. (Clumber Spaniel) Just adored this youngster’s movement which was so effortless and free-flowing. I could literally watch her all day. Possesses a beautiful head with a soft, engaging expression. Well-balanced throughout, already moving with confidence, soundness, and impressive steadiness for her age. I’m sure she will do well in the future. Very attentive to handler.
2 Ryder’s Shorrocks Game Changer at Finnkova (NSDTR). Awarded this youngster PG4. A well-made dog of good breed type with a classic head and balanced proportions. Good shoulder placement and forehand construction, giving strength and reach in front. Good width and depth through the chest with well-sprung ribs and a short, compact body showing moderate tuck-up. Balanced angulation front and rear creates a smooth, coordinated outline. Good coat for age and moved well in profile.

G1 McDonald & Westwood’s Roanjora Cremant De Savoie Avec Eusanit JW (Irish Red and White Setter). Just Wow. I really loved this dog. He took my eye as soon as he entered the ring, and he really did give his handler a hard time at moments. Strong, masculine dog with a well-balanced head and a kind, alert expression. Neck clean and muscular, blending smoothly into a firm topline. Deep chest giving plenty of heart and lung room, with well-sprung ribs and solid bone throughout. Powerful hindquarters and strong feet complete the picture. Covers the ground effortlessly on the move, showing great reach in front and strong drive from behind—a sound, purposeful mover. He just stood out in the field and I was delighted to award him the group.

G3 Welch, Drake & Hazeltine’s Clamerkin Jubilee Surprise at Hookwood JW (Pointer). Elegant, quality bitch with a classic, feminine head and bright, intelligent expression. Well constructed throughout, with a nicely arched neck, firm topline, and good spring of rib giving strength and balance. Moved with freedom and purpose, covering the ground effortlessly. She really turned on the performance in the group and pushed for higher honours.

G1 Roberts’ Byphar Havana Club (Lagotto Romagnolo). The standout winner for me in this group. A lovely puppy, full of breed type and beautifully balanced throughout. Feminine head with an intelligent, expressive eye and pleasing colour. Clean neck blending smoothly into a well-constructed front, deep chest, and nicely sprung ribs. Straight front with oval bone and neat, tight feet. Firm, level topline with a good bend of stifle and well-shaped croup. Compact, strong body and a coat of thick, well-defined ring curls. Moved with effortless ease, showing freedom and drive. Delighted to see her go BPIS.
G2 Poire & Blackboro’s Cherrimar Vincenzo (Golden Retriever). Masculine dog with a kind, expressive head and strong pigmentation. Neck of adequate length leading into a straight front and deep, well-sprung chest. Firm, level topline with a well-set tail. Moved powerfully with good drive, straight and true both coming and going. Coat of good quality, presented in excellent condition.
G3 Bowen’s Clandrift Make It Funky (Flat Coated Retriever). This young dog really caught my eye… full of personality and clearly enjoying his time in the ring. Shown to advantage by his handler. Lovely, kind expression and a well-constructed front with good length of upper arm and shoulder placement. Plenty of heart room and overall balance, giving him a strong framework to mature into. Moved well for his age, keeping a firm topline throughout. A happy, promising youngster I’ll enjoy following as he develops.

1 Osborn’s Killara’s Pass The Crown to Elgert JW (Imp USA). Just fell in love with everything about this Field Spaniel. She is just an exquisite example to me, so commanding and feminine throughout. She was the standout winner in this group for me and she put on a spotless performance in the RBOBIS. She has a lovely head with fine chiselling, elegant raised brows, and good proportions of muzzle. Long, muscular neck blending smoothly into well-laid shoulders and a deep, well-developed brisket. Carries a firm, strong topline that enhances her graceful outline. Attractive tan markings, coat in super condition, and just ate up the ring with her driving movement. At one with her handler which was a pleasure to see.
