Rhyl CS Premier open show 20th July 2025  please read this UPDATED version

Utilities and Utility Groups.

Many thanks to the exhibitors for their entry and Jen my steward for keeping things ticking along nicely. A really strong and full group, it was a shame we didn’t have a bigger ring for the group judging to enable folks to show off their dogs to full advantage, I tried my best to make sure everyone had the opportunity to move again even if it was only up and down and I thank everyone for their patience. All dogs coped very well with both the ring size and the hot and humid atmosphere in the hall.

Akita

O (2)

1. Louvet & Pears’ Satrebor Nevada at Shaluna. Smart girl, strong yet feminine head, dark eyes and well set ears. Good forehand with straight well boned front legs. Firm in topline with good depth of body, and tail carried over back. It was on the move that she caught my eye both in the breed and the group, moving out soundly and freely and holding her shape all the time. BOB and happy to award her Utility Group 2 in strong competition.

2. Hocking’s Karijini’s Ice and Slice. Slightly taller, girl, all in proportion, with strong head, dark well placed eyes, not using her ears as well as the winner today so they appeared a little wider set. Good front and legs, good depth of body, firm topline and tail set on well. Moved out freely looking look in profile, just a touch close going away.

Bulldog

P (2,1abs)

1. Watkins’ Chayo The Magician. Just six months, this lad had the most delightful temperament and lots to like about him too. Ample bone and substance for his age, his head is developing well being quite deep with a good width of underjaw and chin and dark eyes. Enough neck, and a nice width of chest and well sprung ribs and moderate rear. Moved really well. BP and BOB

French Bulldog

P (1)

1. Timms’ Olijah Dare To Dream. 10 months youngster, with good shape to his head with expressive round dark eyes and good ears. Very good front, straight forelegs legs, good depth to his chest, decent topline with cut up, just appears a fraction long at the moment. Shown in super condition and he carries himself well on the move looking particularly good in profile. BP and BOB

German Spitz (Mittel)

P (1)

1. Fitton’s Shelayne’s Celebration. Just six months, this young lady is square and balanced in profile. Very pretty head, small erect ears, very dark eyes and excellent nose pigment. Moderate angulations, nothing exaggerated. Straight forelegs and good feet. Her  tail is her set on high and curled over back. It was on the move that she had the edge over her little brother in the junior class, moving briskly and true on the up and down. BP and Puppy Group 4.

J (1)

1. Clarke’s Shelayne Riotous Revelry. Litter brother to puppy winner and whilst slightly more forward than her in terms of body and coat he wasn’t so settled on the move, but time and more experience will help. Squarish in outline, he has an attractive head, neat erect ears, very dark eyes and nose. Moderate length of neck, firm topline and his ribbing is developing well and his tail is set on high.

O (1)

1. Fitton’s Nosregor Cassiopeia at Shelayne. Mature girl, sporting a well presented double coat. Feminine head, small neat erect ears, dark oval eyes and excellent pigment. Good forehand with straight forelegs and neat feet. Moderate length of neck to balance, level back, well ribbed back and her tail is set on well. Moved out briskly retaining her shape. BOB.

Japanese Shiba Inu

PG (1)

1. Sloane’s Rahima Wildest Dreams at Indaklu. Nicely balanced bitch with a well presented double coat and super body condition. Lovely head, blunt wedge shaped with well developed cheeks, small dark eyes and neat triangular ears all aiding her expression. Good depth of chest, elbows are held tight, firm topline and her tail is set high. Moved out briskly, not quite as accurate coming on as the open winner, but good in profile retaining her shape.

O (2,1abs)

1. Roskell’s Phixons Straumann. Masculine lad of pleasing size and shape with a lovely headpiece, small forward facing triangular ears, very dark eyes and well developed cheeks. Clean legs down to compact feet, strong neck with slight crest, firm topline and high set tight tail. He carried himself well on the move, accurate and brisk with a very good side profile. BOB and Utility Group 3.

Japanese Spitz

 O ( 2,1abs)

1. Warren’s Kessaku Hugo Boss. Good for size and nicely proportioned, this male has an appealing head, masculine with well defined stop, neat erect ears and dark eyes. You need to get your hands in his abundant coat and thick mane as he can at first glance look a little stuffy in the neck, but he has a good length of neck, is well ribbed with a deep chest, good legs and feet and a high set tail. Moved out soundly enough, just would have liked a tad more animation on the move. BOB

Tibetan Spaniel

P (1)

1. Moran & Prouve’s Castafiore Gisele. Promising young lady, liked her size and well balanced outline. Very pretty feminine head which is slightly domed between her well placed ears, well shaped dark eyes and defined chin. Good forehand down to her hare feet, nicely ribbed, firm topline and moderate angulations. Not as settled on the move today as her little mate who was first in junior.

J (2)

1. Moran & Prouve’s Castafiore Givenchy. Quality litter mate to puppy winner and just had the edge in terms of his movement, being a little more accurate and brisk on the go around, although still needing to tighten up a little in front. Handsome well proportioned head, slightly domed skull with dark eyes, well defined chin and well placed ears with slight lift. Good neck and shoulders, enough bone leading to hare feet, firm topline and well set on tail. BP.

2. Perfitt’s Richearon Easy Does It For Hilshki. More mature boy, perhaps he was feeling the heat a bit today as he seemed a little lethargic and not so animated on the move as the winner. Masculine well proportioned head, slightly domed skull and dark eyes with a good chin. Well developed fore chest, and stands well on hare shaped feet. Decent spring of rib and level topline. Steady on the move just a little untidy going away.

PG (1)

1. Carr-Tomlinson’s Tuyet Will-I-Am. Mature lad who appears well balanced in outline and of good size. Attractive well proportioned head, nicely shaped dark eyes and good definition to his chin. Good forehand, down to hare feet. Moderate angulations fore and aft, well spring ribcage and level topline. Moved soundly on the go around, just losing out to the open winner on his slightly more animated performance on the move.

O (2)

1. Moran & Prouve’s Castafiore Sevastyan. A quality masculine lad with a well balanced outline. Super head and expression, with slightly domed skull between his well placed ears with good lift. Nicely cushioned muzzle, well defined chin and excellent nose pigment. Stands well on hare feet, is well ribbed and holds a level topline. Shown in super coat and body condition. Brisk and active on move. BOB

2. Perfitt’s Richearon All About Audrey of Hilshki. Feminine girl with good head proportions, nicely shaped dark eyes and defined chin. Quite well balanced in outline with good angulations fore and aft. Stands on hare feet and holds her level topline. Just felt that she could perhaps carry a little less body condition over her neck and shoulders to advantage. Moved well on the out and back and go around.

Tibetan Terrier

P (1) James-Collins & Collins’ Remmus Under My Spell. 8 months lad with a pleasing square outline, already quite sturdy and well balanced for his age. Well proportioned head, good stop and dark eyes. Good front assembly, ample neck, well laid shoulders and ribbing developing. Nicely angulated rear to match front. High set tail. On the move he had a brisk action with good reach and drive, just needing to settle a little going away. BP.

1. Vernall’s Renvall’s Neon Leon. Well grown lad with good body and substance for his age and square in profile. Medium neck on a pleasing masculine head with dark eyes and good bite. Good spring of rib, level topline, and well angulated front and rear. Coat still developing. Moved very well, looking good in profile with plenty of reach and drive.

O (1)

1. Thorold’s Zilcan Legend Of Gelert with Lottanber. Handsome well presented lad, very well put together overall, good for size and substance and square in outline. Masculine head, which is well shaped with round dark eyes giving a good expression. Well laid shoulders, level topline and well ribbed back, rear angulations match front Moved with ease and confidence with good reach in front. His coat quality and movement gave him the edge today. P (3,1abs)

1. Copper’s Copellastar Go With The Flow, Pepper and salt Min Schnauzer. This young lady just had the edge in terms of maturity in this class. Such a smart girl who shows much promise. Liked her well sturdy balanced outline. Lovely head, well proportioned, flat skull, dark eyes with a glint of mischief. Ample neck, short back and slightly sloping topline to well set on tail. Nicely angulated front and back. Presented in first class coat and condition with harsh wiry jacket and she’s quite the show girl. Comes alive on the move and carries herself so well. BP and Puppy Group 3.

2. White’s Schnaustar Edge Of Glory. Pepper and salt Min Schnauzer. Younger than winner so giving a bit away in terms of maturity but what a super prospect she is. Nicely balanced outline with slightly arch neck of good length, short back with slightly sloping topline and tail set on high. Feminine head, good skull shape, dark oval eyes, not using her ears so well today, but that will come with time and confidence. Pleasing angulations front and back, well presented jacket of good texture. Moved freely and accurately.

J (3,2abs)

1, Copper’s Violis Poetic Haiku for Copellastar JW. Pepper and salt Miniature Schnauzer. A very smart and eye catching girl, perfectly presented in her harsh, wiry jacket and the consummate showgirl too. Her outline pleases being sturdily built, ample neck short back with slight slope, well developed ribbing and well angulated fore and aft. Feminine well balanced head, flat skull, dark expressive eyes, good strength to her muzzle and well placed ears. Comes alive on the move, free and active and stylish too.
