Hovawart Club Of Great Britain

Hovawart Club of Great Britain. Special Award Classes. 5/10/2025

A lovely afternoon with the dogs and members of the Hovawart Club. Just one absentee from the entry of 17 in the SAC classes. Without exception, temperaments were absolutely first rate. My sincere thanks to the Committee and Officers and in particular to Craig Hosie my excellent steward. All winner were black and gold unless otherwise stated.

 Novice Dog or Bitch

1 Johnson and Niblock’s Pines Lord Sheraton. Well balanced with a pleasing head and kind, expression. Good forehand with well laid shoulders, has depth and breadth of chest and excellent feet – nicely rounded and well padded. In profile he had both reach and drive and his hind action was particularly good.

2 Murphy’s Brandanerhof Austin. A handsome, masculine dog, clean head with parallel planes and dark, well-shaped eyes. Decent forehand, well ribbed body with strong topline. A lovely character.

3 Campbell’s Brandanerhof Aragon. Blonde with excellent pigmentation and a pleasing expression. Good depth of chest, well ribbed body, just a little untidy coming back towards me and not the drive of the two above him. Nicely balanced and very typical.

 Post Graduate Dog or Bitch

1 White and Whitmore’s Johan Hovi-Raj of Driftingsky (Imp SVN). A mature, handsome, well coated dog. Good head planes and he has an attractive expression. Good bone, legs and pleasing feet. Good body and ribbing. Moderately well angulated hindquarters which he used to advantage on the move.

2 McLure’s Pines Mansion at Kanukalos. Good breadth of skull and well carried ears. Dark, oval eyes. Very pleasing for both balance and type with good angulation both fore and aft. Moved out with some drive from the rear, a shade untidy coming back to me. Shown in good coat and condition.

3 Johnson’s Pines Bridge. A nicely made, feminine bitch. She too pleases for balance and she is soundly made and free moving. Attractive head with good planes and a moderate stop. Just a little out of coat today.

 Open Dog or Bitch

1 Foakes’ Hightimbers Oaks of Tutelary. Masculine and handsome with a moderately broad skull, good head planes with moderate stop and dark, expressive eyes. Strong, clean neck and well laid shoulders. Good depth of brisket. Pleasing hind angulation and impressed on the move both out and back and in profile.

2 Bos’ Micona Coconut Cream. Blonde, very feminine. Adequate breadth of skull. Dark oval eyes and excellent pigmentation. Good forehand with some depth of brisket and breadth of chest. Good hindquarters with evident drive on the move and this just gave her the advantage today.

3 McLure’s Kanukalos Burletta. Hard to believe that this lovely bitch is over 10 years of age. Shown in perfect coat and condition. Really appealing for both type and balance with a lovely head and expression. Well bodied with good ribbing and a strong loin. Very good profile action just a shade close going away from me.
