Hamilton Canine Club

Breed: Best in Show

Thank you to Gemma and the Hamilton Committee for my invitation to judge at their joint show, held in conjunction with Lothian Canine Club. A huge well done to both societies for a smoothly ran show, no mean feat! I thoroughly enjoyed my day, which was made even more enjoyable by having Ruth Dalrymple steward for me, thank you!

BIS.

Sh Ch Carmelfair Cesare from Misperros Cocker Spaniel; This 15 month old Blue Roan, he really fills the eye, he has a typical head and expression, a smooth neck into well laid shoulders, big ribs carried back into a short loin and a correctly set tail (which never stops wagging). On the move he really comes into his own being sound in all directions and moving with excellent reach in front and plenty of drive from behind. RBIS. Knecht Little Richard JW ShCEx OSW; The Dobermann, couldn’t be denied this placing on type alone, he present a strong, almost square outline, excellent strength to his head, dark eye and correctly set ears, liked his moderately arched neck, excellent spring of rib and balanced rear, he was presented in hard condition and this was demonstrated on the move.

BPIS

Cattal’s A Black Tie Affair (Imp USA), Welsh Corgi (Pembroke); This 7 month old Corgi completely captivated me, he presents such a typical outline for the breed, excellent head and expression, using his ears well, he is balanced fore and aft, with correct oval rib cage carried back into a short loin, moved around the ring like a pro, moving soundly in all directions. I could happily have taken him home! RBPIS Lhasa Apso, Cheolview Wallace; My own Utility Puppy group winner, another who commands attention, presents such a clean outine, typical head and expression, excellent reach of neck with a lovely lay of shoulder, well ribbed, with a correctly set tail. Presented in first class order. He really comes to life on the move. I found the more he moved the better he got. Two lovely youngsters!

Best Veteran In Show

I have to admit that this was the hardest decision of the day. All 7 Group winners belie their age and are a credit to their owners. However my BVIS was the Coton De Tulear, Happypaws Carefree ShCM ShCEx VW, hard to believe this bitch is 11 years old, first class presentation of her correct textured coat, scores in head and eye, with excellent pigmentation, enough fringing to her ears, Has the desired rise to her top line with a correctly set tail. On the move she is an absolute delight, moving freely in all directions. A real credit to her owner. RBVIS The imposing Russian Black Terrier Ir CH Klalslane Revenge For Neukiebear (IKC) ShCEx another presented in first class order, correctly textured jacket which was so well prepared, big ribs, short loin another in hard condition, who when asked to move demonstrated a sound purposeful action.

Utility Group

UG1 Ch Witchgait Toasted Cheese JW ShCEx OSW, Shar Pei; A really lovely example of the breed, full of type and quality. Strong, well-balanced outline with excellent bone and substance. Correct head, which is broad, clean, with the correct amount of wrinkle, small well-set ears, dark correctly placed eyes. Firm topline that dips behind the withers, compact body, and high-set tail completing a tidy, square picture. Coat short, harsh, and in excellent condition. Moved soundly and freely with good reach and drive, maintaining a typical gait, a worthy Group winner.

PG (3,1) Dalamanti’s Guardian Angel 10 month old black spotted dog, presents a typical outline, good head, clean neck into correct top line, carries his tail well, moved with fluid reach and drive, lost a bit of his spark towards the end of the day which paid when it came to Group competition, none the less thought he was well worthy of BOB & BP. 2 Lyndalla Bail Me Out, Liver Spotted, who was finer all through, really came to life on the move, he too has a love lay of shoulder and length of rib, but just preferred the overall substance of 1.

O (4,1) Dvojica Fizzy Pop, 2 Year old black spotted bitch, evenly marked, has a wonderful head and expression, excellent pigment, moved well in all directions. 2 Lyndalla Bell of the Ball, 16 month of liver who is well made, giving a little away in age to 1, but a good fill in front and carries her rib cage back to a short loin

Keeshond

O (2,1) Flatmeer Fluer’s Delay; 6 month old who is so right for her age, good head and expression with desired spectacles and good pigmentation, excellent depth to her nobody topped off with a good double coat that is developing in texture. Liked her overall outline and tail set, moves so soundly for such a young dog, never stood wrong PG2

Lhasa Apso

SY (1) Cheolview Arabella; 16 month old Black and White, typical head and expression, liked her length of neck and depth of ribbing, moved parallel behind, excellent presentation and coat texture.

PG (3) Lhasenna Lepa Dayan Preu; Rising 2, who has a really Tibetan air about her, she has a classic head with a dark eye, excellent outline and under her correctly textured coat, she has a wonderful lay of shoulder and good ribbing. 2 Spyanki Implue JW; No denying he is all male being, clean neck into well laid shoulders, another who is well ribbed and short coupled, correctly set and carried, confident sound mover with good carriage.

O (4) 1 Muirfauld Fairy Tale JW; Feminine gołd bitch headed this class of lovely Apso’s, she has such an eye catching outline which she holds on the move, correctly constructed with big ribs, short coupling and a lovely tail set and carriage, BOB. 2 Zanamop Jubilee Earl For Lhasenna, sable D who is lovely to go over, loved his head and expression, enhanced by a dark eye, another who was so well presented, but felt he wasn’t as positive on the move as 1.

Tibetan Terrier

O (6,1) 1, Boshanti Voila; Black and White who presents the most attractive outline, typical in all departments, has the most wonderful head and expression, liked their length of leg, really came to life on the move, BOB, BP. 2 Routenburn Dilean of Riomhach, Another B&W who is smaller made all through, correct head proportions and dentition, but preferred the overall balance of 1.

Japanese Shiba Inu

O (4,1) 1, Tapena No Ryun Tomodachie at Trixwood; Appreciated the length of leg on this typical Shiba, classic head and expression with correct padded cheeks, moved freely in all directions. 2, Red Ashanti Di Poggio Petroio (Imp Ita) Close up to 1, possessing many of the same features, typical head and dark eye, uses their ears to advantage, but could match the rear movement of 1.

Japanese Spitz

O (4,0) 1, Maihimekai Stolen Kiss; A lovely Japanese Spitz of pleasing type and outline. Compact, well-balanced body with a good head and expression, dark, almond-shaped eyes giving a bright, alert look. Ears small, triangular, and well-set, enhancing the desired foxy expression. Moved with a brisk light action, BOB. 2, Ch Kireina Beautiful Dreamer at Kaiaki JW, Attractive B with the prettiest of heads, excellent eye and pigment, Neck well-arched, flowing into a level top line and high-set tail over the back. Moves soundly. Not quite in full coat today, which slightly detracted from overall finish, A dog of excellent construction and breed character

O (2,0) 1, Nirvana Alarm Beside (Imp CZK); 4 year old Pepper and Salt Bitch, square in outline, excellent head and dark eye, giving correct expression, decent ears, well filled in front, deep ribs, excellent coat texture, tail set bang on, moved well in all directions. BOB. 2. Miccosukees Ice King at Ilashi, 4 year old Pepper and Salt Dog, he is ultra compact and balanced fore and aft, moved okay, excellent coat texture, preferred the eye and expression of 1.

Tibetan Spaniel

Firstly, a special mention to the Tibetan Spaniel exhibitors, this is the second time I’ve judged the breed at an Open Show in Scotland and have to commend you all for your sportsmanship!

SY (3,1) 1. Jazpiper I am Maximus JW, 18 month old dog, typical head and expression and cushioned fore face, liked his length to height ratio, moved well in all directions. 2, Susu Appley Ever After JW, 12 month old who still has needs to fill into their frame, another with a typical head, dark eye and good pigment, well made body, carrying his ribs back to a short loin, a free and easy mover.

PG (1,0) Tulibell Monty’s Girl; 4 year old who is excellently proportioned, good head and expression, moves well and holds their top line on the move.

O (7,0) Jazpiper Starlight Express; Mature 6 year old who really fills the eye, hands on he is so wonderfully constructed, with a lovely lay of shoulder and good ribbing as you’d expect for a 6 year old. On the move is where he really shines, have and easy gait in profile and is so sound coming and going, BOB G2. 2. Susu Life of the Parti A attractive 4 year old, who is also well made, appeals in head, with correct set ears, balanced angles fore and aft, moved soundly.

Poodle (Toy)

O (2,1) 1. Tafari Ta da It’s Afterglow ShCEx, 4 year old black D. Who is wonderfully headed, being well chiselled and possessing a dark eye, giving that undeniable poodle expression, good neck into shoulder, big ribs and short coupled in such a small package. He stands on good feet, His well tailored jacket is harsh to the touch and enhances his overall picture.

Poodle (Miniature)

O (1,0) 1, Poshdelights After Eight For Arcaneon, Black D, who presents a typical outline, classic head with a dark correctly shaped eye, good ear leather, moderate neck into okay shoulders, would prefer a little more depth to his rib cage and a little less length to his second thigh, on the move has such a typical ‘poodley’ action with good head carriage.

O (7,5) Roseangel White Beauty Attractive R&W bitch, liked her substance and overall proportions, excellent bone, feet and front, moved soundly, BOB. 2, Roseangel Dark Love, 7 month old b. Who gave a lot away in age here, she possess a good head and excellent strength to her under jaw. Moved well when settled.

French Bulldog

PG (4,2) 1, Halloxwishes Elena Coco, 2, Halloxwishes Ernesto Cruz,There wasn’t much to separate these two litter mates, although the 1 gave her younger hander a hard time I preferred her overall outline and expression. On the table I preferred the compactness of 1, with 2 being that little bit longer in loin.

O (2,1) 1, Princess Warrior Mulan Halloxwishes, 3.5 year old brindle bitch, like her daughter in PG she is compact and produces a very breed typical outline when stood, moves well in front but would prefer a clearer rear movement.

O (2,1) 1. Shidizzle Bryamzy Sue at Maskeen, 20 month old Shih Tzu, a classic type with a big clear eyes and a typical head, well developed in body, excellent texture to coat, which was well prepared, sound mover despite the flooring of the hall

1. Dvojica Countess Caledonia, Attractive 9 year old bitch, feminine head with a dark eye, correctly set ears, liked her clean neck and shoulder, she is well ribbed and short coupled, moves with a very typical free and easy action.
