A real pleasure to judge at this show, thank you to the committee for the invite to judge top honours at this well run show and the warm welcome I received. A very nice depth of quality of dogs to be found and I thank exhibitors for allowing me the opportunity to go over their dogs, and the sporting way they accepted my placings on the days.
Best in Show
Group 1, Gee’s Watercroft Easy Tiger (Norfolk) This young dog took my eye when he first entered the ring and didn’t disappoint on closer inspection. Masculine and balanced all through. Has a good breath to skull and defined stop, dark oval eye with cheeky glint. Compact in body and well ribbed, well put together in front construction, lending itself to excellent clean movement. Holds a firm topline with a well set on tail putting all these qualities together, with the added edition of having the personality to take him up to the next level, I couldn’t deny him the top honours today presented in a super jacket which was of harsh texture. I predict a bright future. BIS
Group 2, Kenny Marriott & Marriott Millingford Blue Thunder on first glance at this one, everything looked so right, and he confirmed this on the table and move. This very smart masculine 2 year old black dog, possesses a super clean skull of pleasing length and strength, deep set eye of correct shape. Strong and sturdy neck, deep in brisket. Well boned throughout, short firm level back with muscular loin and powerful wide hindquarters, excellent tailset. Presented to perfection in a harsh double jacket. So sound on the move, his overall balance and type very much appealed. Another that should have a bright future, I think he is a little bit special. RBIS
Group 3 Richardson Staynorwood Nightcap (Border) Much to like his young dog. Presented such a balanced picture, nothing overdone or exaggerated to be found here. Perfectly proportioned head with strong muzzle, keen expression, strong jaw and correct bite. Narrow in front and throughout, stood on tight feet and good thick pads. Pleasing reach of neck, good length of upperarm, lending itself to excellent clean movement. Firm well muscled condition, presented in a super jacket of good texture with pliable pelt, correct tailset, nicely angulated hindquarters, demonstrating free and easy driving movement, an easy span for me.
Group 4 Hannington’s Ch Boudivella Osca (Glen of Imaal) I will be the first to admit that this was the first time I had been over the breed today and was so delighted and impressed with what I found today. This 11 year old dog floated around the ring like a youngster. I found him to have excellent head proportions with desired width and strength to foreface, with correct amount of stop, eye of good shape and set well apart and correct ears. He is just right for substance throughout. Stands so well in profile and has a good breath to chest, pleasing height and length proportions. On the move he opened up, which was a reflection of his sound construction, and I couldn’t overlook him in this strong group. A charm.
