East Anglian Gundog April 18th “2025

Many thanks to Paul and the committee for the invite to judge at your 40th anniversary show. I was made to feel very welcome and thank you to the exhibitors for accepting me as their replacement judge , due to the sad passing of Arlene Tester. I judged some quality dogs today and as always I am grateful for the support of the exhibitors and allowing me to assess your dogs.

Lagotto Romagnolo

Graduate.

1st Cuddy, Bedeslea Prada Paradoxe, litter brother sister , both have similar attributes , squarely built, robust in bone and excellent coats of woolly texture. They have good balance with correct length of leg.

I liked this boys head , Masculine , good balance , eyebrow arches prominent, good wedge shape to muzzle . short neck and powerful hindquarters, nothing overdone and moderate in angulations . Moved very well. BP & BOB

2nd Norbury & Adkins Bedeslea Pradasphere, loved her head , full of read type , wedge muzzle , slight stop , large eyes with intelligent expression, triangular ears and short strong neck , sitting into shoulders which were moderate in layback , elbows close to chest, well muscled rear quarters , she is full of breed type and quality just moving slightly close behind today.

1st Butler & Jendellas , Almonrigg Sweet Honey Baby At Jendellas, very promising young bitch , I liked her for overall shape and balance , broad skull , dark eye with kind expression , large ears, high set , strong muscular neck , correct front angulations and prominent fore chest. Moved with reach and drive on a difficult surface. BOB

Post Graduate (1)

1st Day & Robinson , Tarkanya Rits Reinheart at Alfriston. Broad head with masculine expression , strong neck , slightly arched , short loin , strong back and well muscled loin , rear quarters were moderate and muscular , slightly out at elbows. Moved on a good stride.

Cocker Spaniel

Puppy (6, 2)

1st Cliffords Wyncastle Saint Laurent Avec Chamford ( IMP HUN), 8 months old blue roan dog what a super puppy, compact and so well balanced , from the minute you start to go over him , his merry temperament is there for all to see , he has a a lovely head, dark eye , good length to fore face square muzzle good stop and clean through his cheeks. Ears long and low set, correctly placed shoulders which sit cleanly into his topline. Love the width to rear and stifles well bent and short below hock, moved with style and bustling rear quarters, a proper cocker bum , tail never stops wagging. Loved him, he must have a bright future. BP

2nd Griffon , Griffial Back To Black , very pretty black bitch , compact in outline with super head , low set ears and enough stop good length to fore face. Longish neck , well ribbed back and elbows close to chest, short loin. She has super width to rear quarters and moved with typical bustling merry action , her footfall is so correct and her rear movement is super. Sadly just a little proud of tail today but that didn’t detract from her quality. Shown in lovely coat of silky texture.

3rd Collins Aylesmead Blu Rose At Colmandakev

Junior (5,2)

1st Davies , Ryallcourt Happy Dance Of Peacevale , lovely headpiece on this girl , dark eye , low set ears , good reach of neck she scores in her front construction, shoulders are well laid back , nicely sprung ribs and depth to chest , balanced rear angulations with well rounded rump and short below hocks , moved with the typical cocker bustle . Shown in lovely coat of silky texture. Very promising.

2nd Griffon , Griffal All My Loving , pretty gold bitch , cobby in outline with balanced angulations, longish neck with slight arch, well sprung ribs and good depth to chest. Wide quarters and tail well set . Moved steady with good tail action. Shown is super coat of silky texture.

3rd Brown , Campionside Silver Locket At Popebel

Post Graduate (8)

1st Randall , Fengrange Defender Boy BOB , this young lad scored highly in overall shape and maturity, delightfully compact and cobby , super head , good finish to fore face , dark eyes with soft expression and showing chiselling below , ample stop. Clean through neck which sits well into topline . Well ribbed and short loin. He has the typical cocker bum with excellent width. He won this super class and ultimately BOB on his movement. He has that cocker bustle and strong rear hocks which helped him show drive and reach with a merry tail action.

2nd Collins Chativore Sea Pebble At Colmandakev , blue roan bitch , lovely head piece with dark eye , soft expression and chiselling below eye. Long neck with slight arch , straight front . Lovely big ribs and deep brisket . She is a tad longer than 1st but well developed rear quarters with good width and cocker bum . Moved well good reach and drive showing that typical merry cocker attitude . RBOB

3rd Harvey , Valefel Chestnuts Falling

1st Hutson , Stobytill After The Storm , mature male , liked his overall cobby outline and reach of neck. Masculine head with soft expression. Long & low ears . Straight front and well laid shoulders . Took this class on his movement. Typical merry cocker with good reach in front and lovely tail action.

2nd Randall , Plaiglen Sunshine With Fengrange , good overall shape , compact in body , would prefer a little more reach of neck , well ribbed and good width to rear quarters . Short below hocks and moved well with lovely tail action. Shown in lovely silky coat.

Junior (3)

1st Osborn , Elgert Blackpink BP , raw puppy but promising, head with well defined occipital bone , expressive eyes , muzzle long and lean , ribbed well back , legs well boned and moderate in angulations, on the move she did show her rawness but she showed me a few good strides and gained in confidence where in the group she moved with much more composure. Lovely to watch her take puppy group 4 .

2nd Webber , Trevoris Nobody’s Fool , difficult to assess as she was rather overawed by the occasion, she has plenty of substance and bone . Liked her head and clean through neck , hopefully she will gain more confidence to show herself to better advantage.

1st Houseman , Flyenpyg First Sight , male with substance and good bone , masculine head with kind expression, neck long , well laid shoulders , would like a little more length to ribs , moderate rear angulations and moved steady. Handled well .

1st Osborn, Sh Ch Elgert Private Dancer BOB , quality bitch , balanced on the stack , with correct length to height , head of good proportions, lean and clean through cheeks . Loved her expression. Neck long with strength and set well into topline, she was ribbed well back , and lovely strong rear quarters which she used on the move showing excellent drive. Super example of the breed.

2nd Shipton , Heartwood Mishules All Is Possible With Calico ( Imp USA ) JW BW 24, liked her head , good proportions, defined occiput , muzzle long and lean , scored in front construction with good forechest , shoulders long and well laid back . She was carrying a little too much weight today , which affected her movement slightly but never-less a quality girl.

1st Latheron & Trenchard , Sh Ch Fynder Reacher ShCEx , lovely boy , such a handsome head , domed skull with good width , long muzzle , square finish and large nostrils , loved his expression , long low set ears , strong neck , well sprung ribs , short back with wide loins . Moderate in angulations , short tapering tail , super coat of dense curls . Moved with purpose , showing reach and drive . Stood alone but a very worthy BOB

1st Beecham , Sh Ch Crumbledor Albus Dumbledor At Rydonmist ShCEx , what a super dog , full of quality and masculinity. Wide skull with good brows over hazel eyes giving a soft expression. Strong in bone and short legs , body deep and well ribbed , on the move he shows freedom of stride and powerful rear action, holding level topline. Shown in super coat and handled well . Loved him.

2nd Beecham Meggamooch Xanadu At Rydonmist , a picture of femininity , she has a kind soft expression , well balanced in angulations front and rear. Strong neck , well laid shoulders and short strong legs . Moved with style and showing a happy disposition.

Claude George Memorial Member Stakes( 25 , 9 )

1st Ch Yennadon Barra JW SGWC , Gordon Setter , whom I’ve done well for previously, masculine dog , who is very well balanced , full of substance and quality. He scores in his front construction and muscular rear quarters and is very sound on the move showing an easy stride with correct tail carriage. As always shown in super musculature condition. Shown in full coat.

2nd Sh Ch Daitha Shadow Dog With Ferngate , another whom I have awarded a RCC to , strong boned with good depth to chest , well ribbed back with moderate angulations fore and aft . Wide croup with good width to 2nd thigh . Movement today was spot on , driving from rear quarters. Correct coat texture with clear islands of red on a pearly white base.

2 nd Berrymeade Dream On With Jasperleigh , Golden Retriever , very much liked this dog , balanced in outline with super head , broad skull , kind expression. Longish neck , plenty fore-chest , long well laid shoulders and well ribbed with deep chest. Moved out really well showing reach and drive.
