Cornwall Gundog

21st April 2025

Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge Gordon Setters when the originally judge unfortunately had to withdraw, I very much enjoy judging in Cornwall, super dogs and the exhibitors always seem to be very supportive of each other. Many thanks for my gift of Cornwall goodies. Very much appreciated. Thank you to Sue for stewarding and keeping the ring moving .

Gordon Setters

Class Puppy (4)

1st Hollamby Kewstoke Making Waves , all litter mates, sharing similar properties, I like the overall stylish outline of this bitch, pretty in head, good stop and dark eye, ample reach of neck and well ribbed back, strong in loin and long from hip to hock and short rear pasterns. She was just a little rangier than 1st and tended to rush a little on move but showed good front reach I am sure the litter mates will change places many times. presented in good coat condition.

2nd Smith, Kewstoke Sea Queen Zena, she was a little more together than her sister she also stacked well presenting balanced outline, feminine head with good stop , kind expression. She was moderate in rear angulation. She moved steady and true around the ring. Good colour and coat texture.

3rdt Robson , Robson & Robson , Kewstoke Ocean Commander At Glendudmoor

Graduate (2,1)

1st Taylor, Graylacier Blue Marlin, Mature male, masculine head with dark eye, low set ears. Long neck, would like a better lay of shoulder. Short rear pasterns and stifles well let down, coat colour good and shown in good muscular condition. Moved steady with good reach in front.

Postgraduate (2)

1st Taylor, Graylacier Blue Marlin, Mature male

Repeat of Graduate

2nd Kilnrae Black Sapphire With Marshmoor , this girl has a pretty head with soft expression. Dark eye, low set ears. Well laid shoulders and level topline. Would like a little more depth of chest. She moved well, smooth easy action and held her topline on the move. Shown in silky coat of good colour.

Limit (2)

1st Smith , Amscot Air Born Via Kewstone. Dam to the puppies and she has passed a lot of her qualities on. Stylish outline on stack, good reach of neck. Decent fore chest with correct layback of shoulder and return of upper arm , she moved well showing excellent reach and drive. RBOB

2nd Ball, Lignum Caribou, masculine dog of good substance , head of good depth , good stop, fairly long in muzzle with bright expression, would prefer better lay of shoulder , deep brisket and had particularly strong rear quarters. Moved well with a flowing stride just a tad proud of tail today.

Open

1st Leonard, Ch Painted Lady At Tregarrick SGWC , so very well balanced with correct bone and substance, her front and rear angulations were correct, and nothing overdone , she moved on a very easy and true stride with correct tail carriage. Good coat colour and musculature condition. Delighted to award her BOB

2nd Henderson, When I was Your Man Lofty ShCEX ( Imp Pol ) very different in style male , stylish outline, Lovely masculine head of correct proportions, strong in bone and well angulated rear quarters. Shown in lovely coat and condition. BOS
