Wickford Basildon & District Canine Society

Breed: Collie (Rough)

Wickford, Basildon & District canine Society Open Show 17th May 2025 Barleylands Farm Centre.

A huge thank you to this friendly society for inviting me to judge at their lovely, well organised show at this really nice venue and thank you to the committee for a wonderful spread that was there to greet judges in the morning and a fabulous lunch after judging, it was the best I have ever seen at a show and all of the hard work and effort is really appreciated. A huge thank you to my brilliant steward Sarah Collier for keeping my ring flowing well. I had a lovely day and I am most grateful to all of the exhibitors for the honour of judging their dogs. It was lovely to see some of my breeds go through to good placings in the groups.

Collie (Rough)

Puppy (1) 1. Gatt’s Wicani Belladonna, nicely shaped Tricolour bitch, with good overall balance, nice head, dark eye with a complete full correct bite, nice shoulder placement and length of upper arm, good width and depth of chest, well ribbed back, with a good topline, balance front and rear angulation, strong straight forelegs with good pasterns and feet. She had a good tail set and length and carried it well on the move. She moved soundly and had good extension and rear drive. Best Puppy.

Junior No Entries

Limit (2,1abs) 1. Kelekona Hearts Of Gold JW, 2 ½ year old Sable/White dog, in lovely condition with a lovely overall balance and shape, I liked his nicely shaped masculine head, well set and shaped dark eyes, well set ears, fair layback of shoulder and return of upper arm, good depth of chest and spring of rib, moved well when he settled, his coat fitted his body well and he enjoyed himself on the move. Well handled and presented. RBOB.

Open(3,1bs) 1. Benton’s Ch Brooklynson Jane Russell, Sable/white 10 year old feminine, well balance bitch, really appealed for her shape and well-fitting coat, Lovely feminine well balanced head with full dentition and a correct bite, dark oval well set eye, and well set mobile ears giving a really lovely expression. Good length of neck leading into a well laid shoulder and good return of upper arm, good depth of chest and spring of rib, with a firm topline which she held well standing and on the move. She was so sound on the move and so spritely for her age, she covered the ground beautifully with a free flowing gait. Pleased to award her BOB. Really pleased to see her go on to win 2nd in the AV Pastoral Class and Reserve in the Pastoral group under Marion Hodgson.

2. Hull’s Lizmark Diamonds For Ever, heavily coated Sable/White 3 year old bitch, in lovely condition, nice dark oval eye, good bite and nice ear set, fair neck and lay of shoulder, good depth and spring of rib, good length of tail, moved well. I preferred the shape, balance and movement of my BOB today.
