Wickford, Basildon & District canine Society Open Show 17th May 2025 Barleylands Farm Centre.

 A huge thank you to this friendly society for inviting me to judge at their lovely, well organised show at this really nice venue and thank you to the committee for a wonderful spread that was there to greet judges in the morning and a fabulous lunch after judging, it was the best I have ever seen at a show and all of the hard work and effort is really appreciated. A huge thank you to my brilliant steward Sarah Collier for keeping my ring flowing well. I had a lovely day and I am most grateful to all of the exhibitors for the honour of judging their dogs. It was lovely to see some of my breeds go through to good placings in the groups.

Puppy (7,1abs)

1.Mettan-Ure’s Oakcroft Graceful Star Over Savendie, Sable/white very feminine bitch, 7 months and really sound for her age, lovely balance and outline, very good layback of shoulder and return of upper arm, good depth of chest and spring of rib, with a good length of ribcage and nice firm loin, good topline, well set tail of a good length which she carried well. Well handled and presented and moved so well, freely with front extension and rear drive.

2. Straw’s Evad Halloween Zarina From Dukeson, Sable /White bitch feminine baby just 6 months, nice size and shape for her age, really well made throughout, with a lovely shoulder placement and good length of upper arm, good straight forelegs, nice pasterns and good feet. Nice head, eye and ear set giving a sweet expression. Well set tail of good length, moved soundly.

3. Riding’s Achor’s Surprise Jolly Blond Teasle For Torinska (ImpCHE) A very nice baby who moved soundly and freely once she settled.

Junior (4,1abs)

1. Mettan-Ure’s Savendie Meleys, striking tricolour bitch 10 month old and very feminine. Lovely head, dark eye and ear set, she had a good length of neck leading into a well laid shoulder and a good length of upper arm, elbows held in to her good deep chest which was well sprung with a good length of rib cage, she had well balance front and rear angulation, was in lovely condition throughout, with a good coat, well set tail of good length and moved soundly and freely covering the ground well. Pleased to award her best Puppy and see her go through to Pastoral Puppy group 4 under the group judge Marion Hodgson.

2. Lewis’ Savendie Fortune Cookie For Shemella, Sable/White litter sister to my class winner and a very nicely made quality bitch, nice head, eye, well set ears, lovely shoulder placement and return of upper arm, with a nice spring and depth of rib, well set tail which she carried well. Sound on the move and free moving.

3. Winfield’s Iskander Bohemia Classic For Oakcroft (IMPCZE)

Limit (6,2abs) 1. Cheal’s Valdosta Galadriel At Faemadra JW, Feminine Sable/White bitch, feminine well shaped head with a well shaped, well set eye, good ear set and carriage and a correct bite, se had a lovely lay back of shoulder and good return of upper arm, she had a good spring of rib and depth of chest with a good length of rib cage and a firm loin. She had very good front and rear angulation that was well balanced, she had a good stail set which was down to the hock and carried well on the move, she was so sound and moved freely with front extension and rear drive. Pleased to award her BOB.

2. Stock’s Shemist Summertime Blue’s, Masculine Blue Merle 3 year old dog, nice head, eye and ear set, correct bite, nice shoulder and upper arm placement, good overall shape, with a good depth of chest and spring of rib, nice tail set a with good length which was carried well on the move. He moved well.

3. Hoare’s Stanydale Ocean Wave,

Riding’s Achor’s Surprise Orisa For Torinska (ImpCHE), Sable/White feminine bitch, lovely overall shape, size and balance, she had a nice head and dark well shaped eye with a good bite, balanced front and rear angulation, with good depth and spring of chest, she had a good topline and strong well shaped thighs, a lovely free moving and sound bitch. 2. Stock’s Shemist Summer Romance, Lovely Sable/White bitch with a lovely outline and size, she was well made throughout and had a lovely head and expression, lovely shoulder placement with a good return of upper arm, she had a good spring of rib and depth of chest. Moved well.
