Critique for Windsor Gundog Society Open Show

2nd April 2025

Many thanks to the Officers and Committee for the invitation to judge at their open show also to the exhibitors for entering their dogs and accepting my placings graciously. Thanks also to my steward who kept the ring running efficiently.

CLUMBER SPANIEL P 3, (0) 1. Mr J & Mrs C Sainsbury’s Elskerwoo Cloudy Skies 11 month old bitch with good broad skull and freckled muzzle. Almost totally white body with some pale lemon speckling. Moved beautifully, straight and true with a text book clumber “roll”. BP 2. Mr J & Mrs C Sainsbury’s Elskerwoo Silver Lining another 11 month old bitch, sister of my class winner. Well boned and lovely movement but slightly finer in body. Again almost pure white coat but with colouring somewhat darker than her sister. 3. Mr C & Mrs S Crittenden’s Malbecmogs Tiger Eyes

J 2, (0) 1. Mr M & Mrs C Benge’s Wahnahnish St Gilles (Imp NLD) 14 month old dog, gleaming white coat with lemon speckles. Good strong square muzzle but with no harshness. Excellent bone and correct large well covered feet. Another lovely mover. RBoB 2. Mrs R Wareham’s Suelynda Dream On 14 month old bitch also beautifully marked but a little short in body and finer boned. Slightly soft topline on the move.

PG 2, (0) 1. Miss L Wareham’s Tweedsmuir Moonflower 19 month old bitch, text book colouring, well boned and correct tail set. Moved effortlessly and with style. 2. Mr J & Mrs C Sainsbury’s Wooliebourne Nick Of Time Among Elskerwoo 3 ½ year old bitch, well boned and with good deep chest but more orange markings in her coat which slightly detracted from her overall appearance.

O 2, (0) 1. Mrs R & Mr S Wareham & Dustan’s Maursett Melwyn 3 ¾ year old dog well bodied dog, excellent bone and ribs carried well back. Wide skull and square muzzle but with no exaggeration. Correct coat colouring although ears a slightly darker lemon. Moved straight and true round the ring. BoB 2. Mrs LJ Thorogood’s Anbrook Don’t Stop Me Now At Harrifield 5 year old dog, shorter and finer in body than class winner. Good width to skull and deep stop and well rounded feet although less colour in his coat would be desirable.
