Toy Dog of Wales 7th December 2025 My thanks go to the Committee for the opportunity to judge Best in Show at this very well run, welcoming open show. Thanks also go to the Exhibitors who accepted my decisions with sportsmanship and grace. A lovely venue, a super show, with a great entry of quality toy dogs was indeed a pleasure to be part of. I had a splendid group from which to choose my Best in Show and could have awarded several exhibits high honours, but the super Bichon Frisse - Yngles Jago Van Dyksteinhoeve of Starforth (Imp Bel) Dog. Owned by Mr M Beater and bred by Mrs. R Douwen could not be denied a youngster still a puppy just over 9mths old, he was also Best Puppy in Show. His ring presence for one so young was outstanding. He is well put together and oozes breed type. Everything was in balance and he made a lovely picture both stood and on the move. Beautiful dark pigment made his eyes and large black nose stand out against his gleaming white coat. Giving him an alert, almost cheeky expression. Strong jaws, full dentition and tight black lips completed the picture. Straight front, good lay of shoulder, well developed forechest, strong loin and good rear all contributed to his free flowing movement. I will watch his progress with interest. Reserve Best in Show was the Pekingese - Klerkshof Red Rum at Lizlanmore. Dog. Owned by Miss E Morley Br. A. Klerks-Delucchi & B. Klerks-Delucchi. This 2yr old dog is all male. As his name suggests he is registered as a red and his correct coat was presented to perfection, he really is worthy and pushed so hard for Best in Show. He is well balanced, and displayed the typical aloof and dignified character of the breed. He isn't overdone in anyway. His head is so typical, being wide and flat between the ears, wide between his dark, round eye with great pigment. Good nares large and open. Long fringing on his ears framed his lovely expression. He has great bone, good rib, Well laid shoulder, short body with a level top line and good strong rear. He picked up well with correct weight distribution. He moved with the typical slow dignified roll without any restriction. Group 3 was the Pomeranian - Norvanik Silent Whisper at Bincombefarm. Bitch. Owned by Mrs. K French Br. Mr. C. Van De Burgt & Mr. D. Strange. 8mth old Bitch Who im sure will have a bright future. She stood out on her overall breed type and typical Pom outline. Correct throughout she moved with an easy brisk free moving gait. Group 4 was the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel - Charnell The Renegade Sancana JW. Dog. Owned by Mrs. E D Williams. Br Mrs. S. M. Ireland. I have had the pleasure of judging this boy before and he never disappoints. His lovely Blenheim coat was presented beautifully. He has the most beautiful melting expression and is very well put together. He certainly held his own in this very strong toy group. Puppy Group. Best Puppy in Show was another outstanding group that was topped by the Bichon Frisse { as above}. I honestly feel that this group would not have been out of place at championship show level. Reserve Best Puppy in Show went to the Cotton De Tulear - Xanthos Vom Contonfeeling TAF NAF. Owned by Mrs. J Cheshire. Br. J Albert Dosch. Dog. 11mths. I have judged this dog previously and awarded him BOB. He was indeed unlucky to meet the outstanding Bichon today. He has breed type in spades. Lovely for size and with the correct coat presented in tip top condition. He has correct proportions throughout his head with good pigment and dark expressive eyes. Strong jaws and correct dentition. His neck is of good length and nicely arched into his well laid back shoulder. Good depth of brisket and the distinctive rise over the loin in the top line lead to his well muscled rear assembly. HIs good pigment continues in his feet with black pads. Well set on tail. Moved out and back smartly. Puppy group 3 was the Pekingese - Pekehuis Dream Maker. Owners Mr. J Shaw. Miss. W. Mee & Mr J Ransome. Br. Exhibitors. Dog. 6mth old Red. Beautiful head piece with good width throughout Dark eyes and over nose wrinkle not over done giving the classic wide inverted V shape. Good firm underjaw with good dark pigment to lips and eye rims. Lovely lustrous dark eye giving a knowing, alert expression. His short thick neck led to his level top line. Good bone and nicely placed elbows. Great rib, well sprung and broad chest. Picked up well. Nice feet. Well set tail. And moved with typical gait. Another I will watch with interest. Puppy group 4 was the Russian Toy - Jeshua’s Little Missy. Owners Miss R J Berrington & Ms J Sahan Br. Mrs. J. James. Bitch. Coming up 12mths, Red with Black overlay. Petite female who has a lovely coat of the richest red. Nice and square she presented a lovely picture both standing and on the move. Excellent expression, good ear set and ears which she used to advantage. Well put together fore and rear which allowed her to move with a positive action around the ring, whilst still conveying the elegance of this breed. Best Veteran in Show. English Toy Terrier - Ch. Witchstone Not Apache on me for Peopleton VW. Owned by Mr. J. Francis & Miss. W. Blatchford. Br. Messrs N. Gourley & A. Leonard. Dog 11yrs What can I say about this boy that hasn’t already been said. He is a great ambassador for his breed and achieved so much for his owners and breeders. He epitomises the breed. Gleaming Black and Tan coat. Super body belying his age, well muscled and still flowing round the ring with ease and drive. Correct head shape with beautiful, high set ears giving that candle flame impression. Dark, sparkling eyes that don’t miss a thing. He is a joy! Chihuahua (long Coat) Puppy 4/3ab Chantaydan Calm Your Nerves. Owned by Miss C Taylor. Br. V. Morgan-Davies. 8mth old Bitch. Fawn sable. Good shape and size. Correct proportions throughout. Good head piece well rounded with decent apple dome. Dark Eyes and lovely expression.Well set on ears and fringing coming along nicely. Level top line which she held on the move. Well made fore and rear which gave her balance. Tail carried correctly and moved out with confidence. Happy to award her BPIB. Well bodied and coat coming in nicely. Head of correct proportions, Nice dark eye and well placed ears. Well balanced fore and rear he was dainty but still very masculine. Nicely fringed ears which she used to advantage. Well laid shoulder led to a level top line and well angulated rear. Good tail carriage. Just preferred the movement of 1 today. Graduate 2/1ab. Pappersley Qomolangma Owned by Miss RJ Berrington. Br. Exh. 20mth old Bitch. Fawn Sable. Whilst she stood alone she earned her first place. Pretty feminine bitch of good size and all in proportion. Correct head displaying the required apple dome, Large round eye well set nose. Framed with Well fringed correctly set ears, all contributed to her cheeky expression. Good front assembly, level back and well sprung rib. Nicely muscled rear giving the brisk action on the move. Post Graduate 4/1ab This was a lovely class in which I found my BOB Pappersley Cenotaph. Owned by Miss. RJ Berrington. Br Exh. 3yr old Fawn Bitch. In full coat with lovely fringing. Very feminine in head and presented a lovely overall picture when stood and on the move. Well balanced with a good straight front, well laid shoulder, deep brisket and well sprung ribs. Super top line which she held throughout. Well muscled and with a good turn on stifle she moved with a purposeful brisk movement. Holding her head proudly on her arched neck. She was just full of her own importance. In good coat and condition. Pleasing head and expression. Nicely laid shoulder and front assembly everything was where it should be. Another from this kennel presented in tip top condition. Who was my RBOB. Just losing out to her kennel mate today. She presented a typical outline both stood and on the move. Lovely head piece with well set, nicely fringed ears, Dark eyes giving the all important saucy expression. She was well put together fore and rear. Well set on ears of nice size and shape. Lots of presence, alert and interested in all that was going on. Body was compact with level top line. Decent rib coming, Nice reach and drive. Similar qualities to her kennel mate above but not quite the finish. Her top line needs to level as she is going through the typical puppy growth stage. Unsettled, but was better when she moved. He was all together from his correct head to his lovely set and correctly carried tail. He was all male with a look at me attitude. Well balanced throughout he moved briskly around the ring driving from his well muscled and angulated rear. No hesitation awarding him BOB and indeed considered him for further advancement. Correct for size and proportions, he had a decent head, with good eye, nose and ear placement. Alert and attentive to his handler. Tricolour. Nicely proportioned girl, well balanced and presented a pleasing picture both in the stand and on the move. Well formed head with well rounded ‘ apple dome’. Bright dark expressive eyes, Ears set on at a good angle and she used them well giving an impression of being alert and interested in all that was going on. Nicely arched neck leading to well laid shoulder, good rib and tight elbows. Level top line which she held on the move. Plenty of drive from the rear assembly saw her move briskly round the ring. Typical Chi head shape with round dark eyes set well apart. Saucy expression and quite spirited. In good body and condition as were all from this kennel. Moved out well. This boy was lovely in outline. He was in good body with a coat of correct texture and good tan markings. Presented in tip top condition. Good head with the required dome and fullness between the eyes. He had a well turned up muzzle, with good width to his lower jaw, finished with neatly fitting lips. He had large dark eyes with good expression all framed with profusely feathered ears. He is cobby and quite short in back. Well ribbed and a level top line which he held throughout. Nemeth. 22mth old Dog. Blenheim. Another with a good outline. In good body and condition. He had a coat of the correct texture which was rich in colour and presented very well. Typical Charlie in temperament. His head was pleasing and rounded in all the right planes. He had super pigment on his well defined nose. Good width to his muzzle and lower jaw with good turn up. All contributing to his gentle expression. Compact, with a good top line, good width & depth to his chest. Well laid shoulders which balanced with his rear assembly. Moved out well. Breed type in spades of all the correct proportions. Lovely envelope mask with lustrous dark eyes. Good nostrils and neat lips wide underjaw with really good pigment. Good bone, well sprung rib. Broad chest and neat elbows. Great shape with defined waist and picked up heavy. Moved with the typical roll in front and stately, dignified progression. Will watch with interest. This young lady was transferred to Open. Although she stood alone she deserved a first place. I was pleased to learn later that she is a half sister to my BOB sharing a dam. Indeed she shares many of the same qualities. Good breed type. Typical throughout. Good size and well bodied. Very good pigment and lovely wrinkles which were well defined and pigmented. Good strong muzzle with correct detention. Nice and square, Well balanced fore and hind quarters. Well muscled. Displayed some hackney movement but needs to settle. Close fitting jacket, short, hard with lovely lustre and rich colour. His head is so typical viewed from any angle. Strong muzzle all in proportion to his skull, well set nose with good nostrils. Good detention. Strong neck, elegantly leads to his correct top line and well set on tail. Lovely front assembly with medium bone and super feet, with pencilling and dark nails. This typy boy belies his age. He is in lovely condition. Still up on his toes and full of himself. He is very well put together fore and rear and this shows in his typical movement. Beautiful head. Dark expressive eye, that was still sparkling and gave him an alert expression. In good body and well conditioned. Good coat, pencilling evident and neat feet with dark nails. I have judged this dog previously and awarded him BOB. He was indeed unlucky to meet the outstanding Bichon today. He has breed type in spades. Lovely for size and with the correct coat presented in tip top condition. He has correct proportions throughout his head with good pigment and dark expressive eyes. Strong jaws and correct dentition. His neck is of good length and nicely arched into his well laid back shoulder. Good depth of brisket and the distinctive rise over the loin in the top line lead to his well muscled rear assembly. He had large dark eyes with good expression all framed with profusely feathered ears. He is cobby and quite short in back. Well ribbed and a level top line which he held throughout.
