Sheringham and District Premier Open Show, 14th September 2025.

Thank you to the Officers and Committee for inviting me to judge Lhasa Apsos and Tibetan Spaniels at your organised and friendly premier open show, and to all the exhibitors who entered under me, it was a pleasure going over your lovely dogs.

LHASA APSO

PUPPY (2,1)

1ST Mrs Adam-Slomkowski’s Skylax Power of Love, a 7 month old gold and white bitch who was very well presented and handled. She has a delightful feminine headset, well furnished, with dark eyes of correct size and shape and an alert expression. She was a pleasure to go over on the table. Her muzzle is of good length, and her ears are correctly set, pendant and well feathered. She is nicely balanced in outline, with a strong arched neck, laid back shoulders and a straight front. She is sturdy with ample bone for her age, a level topline and high set tail. Developing in chest and rib, she has well feathered round feet, and moved so well round the ring with a jaunty free flowing movement. She stood alone but more than worthy of BP

SPECIAL YEARLING (2,1)

1ST Mrs Gillman’s Mytilene Hot Shot, a 13 month old black and white dog, he was well presented in full coat. He has expressive dark oval eyes, pleasing length of muzzle, dark pigment on nose and lips, and good dentition. He has a sturdy balanced outline, with good angulation front and rear, a level topline and a strong arched neck leading down to well laid back shoulders. His tail is high set and well feathered, and he maintained his topline on the move, with a free flowing action. RBOB

OPEN (5,2)

1ST Mrs Sutcliffe’s Newcliffe Kia-Ora JW, a 7 year old male who gave no hint of his veteran status! He was very well presented and has a beautiful long heavy gold topcoat, a well furnished masculine headset, good whiskers and beard, and well feathered pendant ears. He has dark oval eyes, pleasing length of muzzle and good dentition. In profile he is well balanced and sturdy, with excellent bone, a straight front, a level topline and ribs well back. He has a lovely well arched neck leading down to laid back shoulders, and good angulation front and rear. He is well muscled and has well feathered round feet, with jaunty free flowing movement in all directions. He has fabulous ring presence and an alert temperament, and was very well handled. It was a pleasure to award him BOB.

2nd Mrs Gillman’s Bellellen Magic Mike with Mytilene JW, a 6 year old gold male and another presented in good coat, he was also well handled and moved freely round the ring. He has a compact outline, a straight front and well furnished round feet, width and depth to his chest and ribs well back. His topline is level and his high set tail is well feathered. He also has dark expressive eyes, and excellent pigment, I preferred the headset of 1st place today

TIBETAN SPANIEL

P (1,0)

1st Mrs Short’s Malia Zaya, coming up to 9 months old, this delightful gold bitch has a wonderful temperament, and was very alert and active. She has a small nicely balanced outline, and a pretty, feminine headset. Her pendant ears are set high, her head is slightly domed and she has a defined stop. Her blunt muzzle is of good length, developing cushioning and width. Her chin is of good depth and she has good dentition. Her short neck goes down to well laid shoulders, she has good depth of chest, developing in width as appropriate for her age. Her back is level and she has a high set well feathered tail, small neat hare feet, and moderate turn of stifle. She moved well and was very attentive to her handler. BP.

Limit (3,2)

1st Miss Neale’s Saxtead Toot Sweet at Timarnea. A 3 year old gold sable bitch with a black mask, she has a small domed head, well set ears, dark expressive eyes and a blunt muzzle with plenty of cushioning. She is longer than height at withers, her shoulders are well laid back, she has a level topline and a well plumed tail carried correctly. Her hocks are well let down and she has a moderate turn of stifle. Her movement was a tad untidy coming and going.

OPEN (3,1)

He has a well balanced outline, longer in length than height at withers, with a small head carried proudly on his short strong neck. His shoulders are well laid back, he has a level topline, high set richly plumed tail carried over his back, moderate bone and neat hare feet. His masculine headset is breed typical, his ears are well placed with a slight lift, he has dark oval eyes with a bright intelligent expression, a blunt muzzle of medium length with cushioning, and depth and width to his chin. He was very well handled and he had free strong movement, carrying his head and tail proudly. He was a pleasure to go over, BOB

2nd Mr & Mrs Brandrick’s Lillinca Bees Bliss, a 4 year old bitch and another with a beautiful gold sable and white coat, also very well presented. Slightly longer in length than 1st place, she is still balanced and a lovely example of the breed, with a delightful feminine headset, good depth of chest and spring of rib, a level back and well plumed high set tail. She has correctly bowed forelegs and hocks are well let down. She was very attentive to her handler, I preferred the movement of 1st place today, however I was happy to call her back into the challenge and award her RBOB
