Breed: Dobermann

Walsall & District Kennel Association

Open Show – Saturday 09th August 2025

I would like to sincerely thank the committee for inviting me to judge the Dobermann classes and for providing such a generously sized outside ring. Medium and large breeds are all too often restricted to smaller rings, which can limit their opportunity to show true, flowing movement. Fortunately, the weather was kind on the day, and handlers were encouraged to make full use of the ring, and it was a pleasure to watch the dogs move with confidence and elegance. My thanks also go to all exhibitors for their entries and efforts; they are truly appreciated.

Puppy Dog or Bitch

1st – Teuschons Raspberry Beret

Having just turned six months, Teuschons Raspberry Beret is a smart young puppy of good breed type. She has a clean head with expressive dark eyes, a well-set neck, and balanced proportions. Her body is well-balanced with a developing topline, and bone and substance appropriate for her age.

Hindquarters show good angulation and promise, giving a balanced outline on the move. Her movement is confident and enthusiastic, with correct coming and going. I was pleased to award her Best Puppy on the day, which I believe was her first show, and one of which she took in her stride. I look forward to watching her continued development.

2nd – Aniiraz Ajax The Greater

Another confident and promising young dog who appealed to me greatly. He has a masculine, well-defined head for a youngster, forming the desired elongated blunt wedge, with the alert and intelligent expression typical of the breed. His neck is strong and clean, flowing neatly into well-set shoulders.

He shows a straight front with tight, well-arched and compact feet and carries the correct substance for his age. Hindquarters are well-formed, providing both drive and stability, and he moves with energy and confidence. An enthusiastic youngster who, with a little more focus and steadiness for his handler, could easily have changed placings on the day. One to watch for the future.

Post Graduate Dog or Bitch

1st – Amazon Breathless

An impressive young bitch of excellent breed type, displaying both strength and femininity. She has a clean, well-proportioned head forming the desired blunt wedge, with dark, expressive eyes giving a keen and intelligent expression. Neck is elegant and well-set, flowing into well-laid shoulders to create a balanced outline.

Her body is firm and well-developed for her age, with a strong topline, good depth of chest, and correct substance. Hindquarters are powerful and well-angulated, supporting her free, purposeful movement.

On the day, it was her movement that truly set her apart – covering the ground elegantly with reach, drive, and precision, always maintaining balance and rhythm. A quality young bitch whose soundness and movement made her a very worthy winner of Best of Breed. Look forward to seeing more of her in the show ring.

 2nd – Verlayson Ensipotens

A nicely made, square dog of good breed type. He has a pleasing, masculine head with correct proportions and expression, giving a strong and typical outline. His body is balanced with good substance, firm topline, and correct angulation, all contributing to a sound overall picture.

On the move he showed drive and balance, though was a little unsettled in the ring on the day. This cost him in the class, where he had to give way to a quality bitch who was very much on top form. Nonetheless, he remains a very nice dog with much to admire and good potential as he continues to mature.

Open Dog or Bitch

1st – Rafthouse Kickback

A mature, impressive dog, square, compact, and well-balanced, he presents a strong, masculine outline that is true to the breed standard. His head is powerful yet clean, with correct proportions and expression, giving him presence and type in abundance.

Body is well-constructed with firm topline, depth of chest, and strong bone, all combining to produce a dog of strength and elegance. Hindquarters are well-angulated and muscular.

I was pleased to award him 1st in his class, where he impressed throughout. He only narrowly missed out on Best of Breed, giving way to a quality exhibit whose movement on the day just edged it for me. This is a dog of excellent breed type and quality, and one I really rate highly, was very pleased to award him my Reserve Best of Breed.

2nd – Jodaseen All Of My Heart JW

A feminine brown and rust bitch of pleasing type, with a well-balanced head, good planes, and strength without coarseness. Neck is elegant and flows cleanly into a firm topline and well-set shoulders, giving her a strong yet feminine outline. She stands on straight, well-boned limbs with tight feet and has good angulation.

Movement is sound and balanced, showing reach and drive in profile and accuracy coming and going. She presents a strong frame with good substance, yet retains the elegance required of the breed.

3rd – Jodaseen Steel City Blues JW
