Breed: All Breed Open Show

Thank you to the officers and committee for their kind invitation to judge at their well-run open show and their hospitality on the day and to my stewards for keeping the ring moving smoothly.

Leonberger

O: (2) 1st Heginbotham’s Hera Nasza Duma (Imp Pol), 5-year-old red bitch with a lovely head of good proportions, with a gently arched forehead and strong muzzle of good width and length. Lovely eye and well-set ears giving a kind expression. Strong neck of good length flowing into a well laid shoulder and upper arm of equal length. Super bone and excellent feet. Good depth of chest with good forechest and spring of rib however, I would have preferred a firmer topline. Gently sloping croup with low set tail of good length and well angled hindquarters in balance with the front. Moved with ease. BOB 2nd Heginbotham’s Sulandi Fallen Angel (IKC) JW, 2-year-old red bitch with, again, lots to like. Super outline with good length of neck and level back, well angulated front and rear with moderate slope of croup and low set tail reaching the hock. Good length of head but I preferred the width of muzzle, ear set and overall expression of the winner

Rottweiler

J: (2) 2 super puppies with lots to like. Both were enjoying their day out and struggled to get their grip on the slippery floor as, I think, excitement got the better of them on the stand. I noticed from the catalogue that they’re both by the same sire, which explains why I liked them both! 1st Docherty’s Fantasa Just In Time For Xmas, 8-month-old boy developing nicely. Loved his head, with abroad skull and slightly arched forehead, muzzle of good length and in proportion and parallel to the skull and well-defined stop. Lovely dark eye of good size and shape with high set ears all giving an alert expression. Clean neck of good length, level back and well laid-back shoulder with good return of upper arm. Super legs and tight feet with well arched toes. Very slight slope to the croup and well angled rear with good bend of stifle and strong rear pasterns. Very sound coming and going, moving effortlessly BP 2nd Mattley’s Teigan Let It Bea, very pretty, 7-month-old bitch, lovely head of correct proportions with a super eye. Lovely neck and outline with good angulation front and rear, super depth of chest and good forechest with a good topline. Good bone and feet. Balanced on the move in profile, but a little close behind when going away, hopefully this will improve as she grows up.

O: (1) 1st Docherty & Dunhill-Hall’s Fantasa Juste Voiture Noire VRL 1EX 3-year-old boy, very masculine and powerfully build. Strong head with skull of good width with slight wrinkling and arch to forehead, a strong muzzle with well-muscled cheeks without being overdone. Lovely almond eye and high set ears and clean stop. Well-muscled throughout, with long, clean neck, well laid shoulders, good return of upper arm and strong legs with well arched toes. Good depth of chest and well sprung rib, super topline and very slightly sloping croup with tail carried low when standing, raised on the move. Powerful hindquarters with well bent stifle and short rear pasterns. Struggled to get into his stride as the ring was quite small and slippery, but he was balanced and moved with enough reach and drive to be awarded Best of Breed.
