Royal Cheshire County Show 18th June 2025

Thank you to the committee for my invitation to judge at this beautiful show.

It was a lovely sunny day, which got very warm as the day proceeded so I was glad we were first in the ring.

Thanks to my able stewards who kept me right with everything running smoothly.

I must thank my Best of Breed and Best Puppy winners who waited to represent in the group rings. Both made a good presentation of the breed with my BOB shortlisted.

Puppy (4,2)

1st Johnson’s KASTINA JODIE

9 months, black and gold female of good type, size and proportions. Dark mask and eye with a strong but feminine head and alert expression. Excellent proportions. Good reach of neck with a firm back and clean topline into a croup of good length but slightly steep. Sound away but toes in a little coming. Good front reach and rear drive, holding her topline but needed a looser, less restrictive lead to show her best, easy movement. A lovely dry, firm, sound and unexaggerated female who I was pleased to award Best Puppy and Reserve BOB.

2nd Stanley’s BLANIK MEERAH

11 months, large sable female. Alert, feminine expression. Dark mask and eye. Good reach of neck, high wither into a firm back with excellent topline and underline. Slightly steep croup of good length. Sound away and back. Excellent, enthusiastic reach and drive on the gait but not as firm as the winner. A lovely, rangy pup who I think will come into her own once she matures.

Junior (4,2)

1st Brown & Kearnan’s SWNYNANT ICON

17 months, large, paling black and gold male; masculine head and expression with a dark eye. Not in the best coat condition today which affected his black pigment. Good reach of neck into a normal wither and topline. He has a dip behind the wither, high tail set and steep croup which spoils a clean overline. Good underline. Balanced angulation front and rear. Sound away with a good side gait. A dry, firm, unexaggerated young male.

2nd Amis & Stanley’s DROYALES PRESENT VERDANDI

17 months, grey sable medium sized male in good condition. Short, close coat type. Masculine head and expression with a dark mask and eye. Balanced angulation, front and rear. Long but steep upper arm. Slightly short in the foreleg. Good topline into a croup of excellent length and angle. Sound coming and going. He moved well around the ring but was slight unsettled today and not happy with close examination.

Graduate (6,2)

1st Ingham’s PALUKA BALI JW

22 months, black and gold female of correct size and good height to length proportions. Shown in excellent coat and body condition. Feminine head and expression with a dark eye. Good reach of neck, high wither, firm back into a slightly steep croup of good length. Good shoulder placement and length of upper arm which is a little steep. Balanced front and rear angulation. Sound away and back. She moves with purpose on the walk, extending well on the gait, with an effortless ground covering movement, keeping her wither height throughout. Always alert with a calm, confident temperament. Very happy to award her Best of Breed.

2nd Stanley’s PINCHMILL ADIRA OF BLANIK

2 years, lovely pailing black and gold female of over medium size. Feminine head and alert expression; dark mask with a sightly light eye. Good height to length proportions. Balanced angles front and rear. Good reach of neck, high wither into a firm back and topline although she has a wave on her coat which detracts from her otherwise clean lines. Sound away and back with an extensive side gait.

3rd Lemon’s SOLOPHINA FLOYD AT MITZAHNER

5 years, large, mature, paling black and gold male in good coat condition. Masculine head and expression with wide set ears. Should have a darker mask and eye. Good height to length proportions and balanced angulation front and rear. Normal wither into a firm back and topline with a high set tail set and slightly steep croup. Sound away and back and extended well on the gait.

4th Brown & Kearnan’s SWNYNANT ICON

Post Graduate (3,2)

1st Brett’s CHICA GUAPA OF BLANIK

2 years, large, strong, long coat black and gold female, not in best coat condition. Feminine head and expression with a dark eye. Normal wither, firm topline into a slightly steep croup of good length but the wave in her coat detracts. Balanced front and rear angulation. Front pasterns are not quite firm so she doesn’t stand true in front. She has an extensive side gait on the move with good reach and hind drive.
