Breed: Bearded Collie

Scottish Breeds Canine Club Open Show: Bearded Collies: 20th September 2025

Many thanks to the Scottish Breeds Canine Club Committee for the invitation to judge Bearded Collies at their open show. Thank you also to the Bearded Colie Club of Scotland for supporting the entry. The show has been a favourite of mine, and I was truly honoured to be invited to judge. Special thanks to all the exhibitors for their entries and for gracefully accepting my placings. Although the entry was modest in number, it certainly was not lacking in quality.

Puppy Dog (1,0)

1st Miss S Long – Talraz Signs of Spring At Bearbria

7-month-old slate boy. Nice head with matching eye. Good length coming from the rib. Showed some nice movement when settled.

Junior Dog (0,0)

Graduate Dog (3,3)

Post-Graduate Dog (3,1)

A close decision between these two.

1st Mrs M Walker – Allachoy Dances with Wolves

6 year old slate boy. Strong head with lovely dark eye matching the coat. Correct bite, deep chest and good rib length. Moved nicely when settled, though slightly fond of his tail today.

2nd Ms S Gibb & Mrs M Dungavell - Debbeacol Devil In Disguise At Pirateer

2 year old slate boy. Smaller in stature. Eyes toning with the coat giving a lovely melting expression. Good depth of chest with correct harsh coat. Moved steadily when settled but tended to carry his tail high.

Open Dog (5,3)

Two outstanding boys.

1st Mr D Moir – Winaria Wellington

3 year old slate boy. Love this boy. Beautifully balanced with good head, correct bite and a kind dark eye giving a lovely expression. Excellent shoulder placement, deep chest, long rib and well-muscled rear. Effortless free flowing movement. Pleased to award him Best Dog and Best of Breed and delighted to see him going Best in Show.

2nd Mrs K Delaney – UK & ESP Ch Arranbrae Muy Guapo

9 year old slate boy. In super condition that bellies his age. Another beautifully constructed boy. Excellent head and matching eye. Correct angulation front and rear with a nice length coming from the rib. Coat beautifully presented. Moved out well but lacked the drive of 1 today.

Puppy Bitch (2,0)

A lovely class of puppies

1st Mr R & Mrs S Ballantyne – Potterdale Prime N’ Proper For Bustroc

8 month old slate puppy. Gorgeous head with the sweetest expression. Stunning on the stand. Excellent proportions and construction. Nice length coming from the rib. She had a lovely steady free flowing movement. Pleased to award her Best Puppy Bitch and Best Puppy in Breed and was delighted when she went Reserve Best Puppy in Show.

2nd Mrs L Aitken – Irrisaddition It’s Showtime At Drumjareen

6 months old slate puppy. Just a baby at her first show, giving away a bit in maturity. Good head with a lovely dark eye giving that typical beardie expression. Much to admire and when settled, she moved steadily.

Junior Bitch (2,1)

1st Mrs AM Glasgow – Gallus Hopes and Dreams

12 month old brown girl. I have judged this girl before and still adore her. Lovely head with the sweetest expression and well-constructed throughout. Deep chest and good rib length. Shows super free movement when settled.
