I would like to thank the Amman Valley Canine Society committee for the kind invitation to judge the Working and Pastoral breeds at your Open Show on Saturday 1st November 2025. It was a pleasure to officiate at such a well-run show, held in a friendly and happy atmosphere that was a credit to everyone involved. My sincere thanks also go to my ring stewards, Alan, Ruth and Lynne, for their efficient, professional and cheerful assistance throughout the day, which was very much appreciated

PASTORAL BREEDS

Border Collie Open (2,0)

1st Johnson ANADUNE FAIT ACCOMPLI FOR TARNLAIKERS 10 year old of balanced proportions. Good head, dark eye. Good angles fore & aft. Sound throughout. Gained Best of Breed on her balanced, ground-covering movement and pleasing outline.

2nd Carter CARTEZZ PALOMA Well proportioned and balanced. Good head and ear carriage. Good topline. Well developed chest. Good angles fore and aft. Sound throughout. Balanced movement just lacked the presence and enthusiasm of the first.

Polish Lowland Sheepdog Post Graduate (1)

1st Bamford MYBEARDS PUDDLE AT HAZDAWN Very good type, med size, sturdy and cobby. Very good coat condition. Well boned. Straight columns, good feet. Correct proportions. Well angled shoulder. Level, firm back. Strong loin. Broad, strong hindquarters. Initially a little reserved but soon settled and moved with a balanced free gait. PG2

Polish Lowland Sheepdog Open (3,2)

1st Cole CH/IR CH ACAVISTE PON CENNA Good type . Good size. V.good head. Good angles fore and aft. Sound throughout. Deep brisket. Well boned. Moved soundly with good drive. Topline could be firmer. Best of Breed.

Shetland Sheepdog Post Graduate (6,5)

1st Hime SHOUGIES STARMAID Well presented. Excellent condition. Very good outline. Correct proportions. Good head, sweet expression. Good lay of shoulder. Deep brisket. Firm topline with desired sweep over loin. Sound throughout. Balanced movement with good deportment. Good drive and ground covering side gait. Best of Breed.

Shetland Sheepdog Open (4, 3)

1st Hime MIJMAS MOONLIGHT AND ROSES 7 year old bitch in fabulous condition. Alert, expressive and very well presented. Shoulder could be better angled.Straight columns. Correct feet, firm pasterns. Good proportions. Firm topline. Sound throughout. Moved freely covering the ground with effective drive retaining a pleasing outline. Best Pastoral Veteran and Reserve Best Veteran in Show. Congratulations.

Samoyed Open (2, 1)

1st Wilson GWYNEIRA SCARLET WITCH JW Well-balanced, medium size with correct type and pleasing outline. Head shows good shape and expression, with dark eyes and well-set ears. Body is compact with a level topline and good bone. Coat is profuse and of correct texture. Moves soundly with good reach and drive. Presented a confident and excitable performance. Best of Breed.

Collie (Rough) Open (3, 1)

1st Flower SERENLAS THE JOKERMAN Substantial, well-balanced of good type. Head is long and clean with good planes and a soft, intelligent expression. Eyes are well-shaped and correctly set. Neck flows smoothly into well-laid shoulders, good return of long well angled upper arm. Deep brisket, body shows good length and balance. Presented today in excellent coat and condition. Moves soundly, freely and effortlessly, maintaining a level topline. Best Puppy, Best of Breed & Puppy Group 3. Congratulations.

2nd Mathias SERENLAS DAGGERSPELL OF DAPPERDAX Very good type. Shows correct outline with a well-shaped head and pleasing expression when settled. Body is balanced with good length; croup is long but flat. Coat is correct in texture and in excellent condition. Lacks a little self assurance. Moves soundly with good drive and retains a pleasing outline.

Collie (Smooth) Post Graduate (2,1)

1st Watkins BLAMORDER UNLUCKY FOR SOME A well-balanced tri-colour bitch who presented confidently in the ring. She has a pleasing, feminine head with a dark eye and correct ear carriage. Her good reach of neck flows smoothly into well-constructed shoulders. She holds a level topline, has sound hindquarters, and moves well, carrying her tail correctly throughout

Collie (Smooth) Open (2,1)

1st Martin CH STURTMOOR ARCEUS’S LEGACY JW An very good type sable-and-white male. Well presented, in excellent coat and fit condition giving the impression of the ability to complete a days work. Well-balanced head with a good blunt wedge and defined stop, complemented by correct dark eye. His well-laid-back shoulders and arched neck contribute to a strong, athletic outline. Firm topline and very good underline. Moves soundly going coming towards elbows could be tighter. Excellent hindquarters, strong borad thigh with very good turn of stifle. Moved well using all his power to display a roomy gait with powerful drive and purpose. Best of Breed.

Lancashire Heeler Open (1)

1st Merrells TAIGWYNION EWART JAMES An older dog presented in good condition and clearly well cared for. He shows good condition for his age and moves steadily and willingly around the ring. He retains a balanced outline and correct proportions. His head is good with a gentle expression, and he carries himself with confidence. On the move, he remains sound and true, showing a steady, honest action. Best of Breed.

Welsh Corgi (Pembroke) Junior (1)

1st Davies COQUETMOSS COPPER BEECH AT ERMYN A well-presented puppy with a pleasing outline and good overall balance. He has a masculine head, though the muzzle is a little long, slightly affecting expression. He benefits from a good lay of shoulder, which contributes to his outline, and very good hindquarters with a strong, broad thigh. In front, he toes in when coming towards. In profile he moves with a roomy, easy side gait. Exuberant and enthusiastic he performed and convinced at each phase of the competition to win Best Puppy and Pastoral Puppy Group 1. Congratulations.

Welsh Corgi (Pembroke) Post Graduate (1)

1st Jones ERMYN STORM AHEAD Well developed in front, with well-laid shoulders and correct ribbing, giving a balanced and functional outline. Tail is correctly set and carried. Short, strong hocks that contribute to a steady, honest action. Overall, a sound, workmanlike dog of good type, presented in good condition.

Welsh Corgi (Pembroke) Open

1st Davies HARESFOOT FAIRY NUFF FOR ERMYN Feminine of excellent type and presented in excellent condition, she immediately catches the eye. Very good head of correct proportions, complemented by well-set ears that enhance her lovely expression. Her front assembly is excellent with well laid shoulders and very good return of well angled upper arm. Well developed forechest and nice bone flowing down to neat feet. A beautifully balanced bitch, she has correct front and rear angulation, allowing her to move with complete freedom and ease. Her good length of neck flows smoothly into a level topline, with well-fitted elbows and a good spring of rib completing a very pleasing picture. Shown to absolute perfection, she was a delight to assess and a pleasure to award Best of Breed and Pastoral Group 4.

1st Evans LIDOFFAD CELTIC DREAM Feminine head of good proportions and a pleasing expression, complemented by a nice length of neck. Balanced outline. Good angles fore and aft. Sound throughout. Moved with a balanced side gait.

Welsh Corgi (Cardigan) Open Dog (2,1)

1st Essenhigh & Bishop CH FAARUP YN SYML COCH TO BRYLLUAN A very good red and white dog of substance, presenting a balanced and masculine outline. He has a strong head with good proportions and a kind expression, complemented by well-set ears. His neck is of good length, flowing into well-laid shoulders and a solid topline. Well bodied with good depth and spring of rib. His forequarters are well constructed, and he stands on good bone with tidy feet. Very good hindquarters with broad, strong thighs. Moves soundly. Moves with purpose and drive. Shown and presented in excellent condition.

Wesh Corgi (Cardigan) Bitch (3,0)

1st Langford CAPRIAN ADRIANNA JW Presenting a balanced and substantial outline, full type and quality. Good head with kind expression, and well-set ears. Good length of neck flowing smoothly into well-laid shoulders and a firm, level topline. Body well developed with excellent depth and spring of rib. Forequarters are well constructed with good bone and neat feet, hindquarters are powerful and well muscled, providing drive and stability. Sound and positive on the move, covering the ground with ease and purpose. Presented in superb condition and shown to advantage, retention of outline and firm topline made her my Best of Breed winner.

2nd Evans LIDOFFAD LLEW GWYLLT Well-matured, presenting a pleasing overall outline that reflects good type. Good head and expression, well-set, alert ear carriage. Body shape is balanced, with a good length of rib and depth. Good angles fore and aft. Good depth of brisket. His front movement is clean, though a touch less fluid than desired; however, he moves with drive from behind, maintaining a solid, balanced gait. Overall, a sound dog with good presence.

Bearded Collie Post Graduate (2,0)

1st Axford BRAMBLEMEAD SPARKLING LADY A very pleasing blue bitch of very good type, presenting a feminine and attractive outline. She has a lovely expression, with a well-shaped head and soft eye. Her neck is of good length, flowing smoothly into well-laid shoulders, and she maintains a level topline both standing and on the move. Overall proportions are good, giving her balance and symmetry. She was beautifully presented and shown to advantage. In profile she moved with ease and reach. A quality young bitch with much to like and clear promise for the future

2nd Kitchen MOLLYFLECK GIFT OF GOLD Balanced outline and nice temperament. He has a head of acceptable proportions with a kind expression. His neck and shoulders are adequate, and he maintains a fairly level topline both standing and on the move. Body is a little long with reasonable depth and rib. He stands on sound legs, pasterns could be firmer. In movement he is steady and willing, covering the ground comfortably.

Bearded Collie Open (2,0)

1st Axford BRAMBLEMEAD BOLLINGER BOY A truly first-rate dog of excellent type, who excelled at every stage of the competition and fully deserved his ultimate success of Pastoral Group winner and then overall Best In Show. He is a dog of great strength and ideal proportions, presented in superb condition and shown to absolute perfection. He has a quality head with a broad skull and pleasing expression, combined with a good reach of neck flowing into well-constructed forequarters with correct angulation. His body is well ribbed with a strong loin, and behind he is powerful, with strong, broad thighs and a good turn of stifle. On the move he is sound and purposeful, displaying a ground-covering gait with effortless reach and effective drive. He particularly caught the eye when the rings opened up, moving with confidence and presence. It was a pleasure to see him confirm the early confidence I had in him when I awarded him Best Puppy and Pastoral Puppy Group Winner 18 months ago. I still love this dog and wish his owners the very best of luck for continued success.

2nd Kitchen CEILMEAR’S WISE MAN Head is of acceptable proportions, giving a gentle outlook. His neck is a little stuffy, which slightly affects his overall outline, and he would benefit from being shown in firmer condition. Body is sufficient with reasonable depth and he stands on sound legs with tidy feet. In movement he is steady and willing, moving honestly around the ring.

Belgian Shepherd Dog (Groenendael) Open (2,1)

1st King EVANGELINE DE L’AMBASSADEUR DES BELGES AT DACFOLKE (IMP HUN) Good type, presenting a pleasing outline and good size. Good head and expression. Good length of upperarm. Sound throughout. Back could be firmer, slightly nicked behind the withers, which slightly affects the topline appearance in movement. Gait is steady, fluent and balanced. Shown in good condition and handled well.

Australian Cattle Dog Open (2,0)

1st Greenhill NYMPH CARPATHIAN DINGO (IMP SVK) A quality bitch of excellent type, not the biggest but all is there in proportion, feminine yet strong and perfectly balanced. She has a very pleasing head of ideal proportions, with a dark oval eye and super watchful expression. She has a good muscular neck into well-laid shoulders, a well-developed chest of ideal depth and width, and a firm, level topline with good length of croup. Strong, well-muscled hindquarters with good angulation and well let-down hocks. Moved soundly with a balanced, fluent side gait. Best of Breed.

2nd Greenhill EVALAND VUK IMP LV TAF Substantial. Good type, presenting a balanced and honest outline. Good head, skull of good width and a nicely balanced muzzle, complemented by a well-shaped dark eye and good expression. His ears are well set and contribute to his alert outlook. Neck flows into well laid shoulders. Upper arm is of good length but could be better angled. Good chest development with good depth of chest for his age. Straight columns and moves soundly. On the move he is balanced and true with a fluent side gait. A very pleasing youngster who showed well and was Best Puppy and Puppy Group 4.

Hungarian Puli Post Graduate (2,0)

1st Gracie MOURNEBRAKE NINE DAYS QUEEN AT CELEBROS Good type, presenting a good outline. Nice head with a slightly domed skull of good size and a well-proportioned muzzle, complemented by well-set ears and a good eye. Good neck flowing into a level back, with a short, firm loin and good depth of chest. Forehand angulation is very good, contributing to good outline. In profile moved well, maintaining balance and rhythm; however, coming towards a little untidy in front. Coat needs attention.

2nd Rathband & Fealy MOURNEBRAKE HIDDEN AGENDA WITH KEYNELL Presented in good condition and showing a clean, square outline. Good head properties, with a domed skull and a muzzle in correct proportion. Back is firm with a short loin, giving a neat, square profile. He has good depth of chest and adequate length of leg. Front and rear angulation are generally good; however, he was a little loose at the elbow on the move, which detracted from his overall front action.

Hungarian Puli Open (1,0)

1st Gracie MOURNEBRAKE DEAR PRUDENCE A pleasing fawn bitch who presented a good outline and overall balance. Pigmentation could be stronger in nose, mouth, and eye rims, but this did not detract from her many virtues. She is slightly longer in back than preferred, yet she maintains a level topline and shows excellent front and rear angulation, which gives her balance and strength. She has good depth of chest and moved with confidence and purpose. A sound, feminine bitch with much to admire, Best of Breed winner.

AVNSC Post Graduate (1,0)

1st Owen ASALET OLIVE A well-presented Anatolian Shepherd Dog shown in excellent condition, with good muscle tone and overall soundness. Strong, functional frame and correct proportions. On the move steady and honest, covering the ground comfortably. On this occasion did not quite show the animation or ring presence needed to fully showcase her many qualities; however, with a little more confidence and sparkle she could make even more impact. A quality exhibit, clearly well cared for and handled with consideration.

AVNSC Pastoral Open (2,1)

1st Lambert STURTMOOR’S GON’N DUN IT JW This yearling Norwegian Buhund presents a strong outline, with a well-balanced and level topline. Ches is developing nicely in depth, giving him a solid and well-rounded frame. Wedge-shaped head and dark eyes, very expressive. Correct tail set, nice curve. Correct angulation contributing to his balanced movement. Overall, he is very much in proportion, with an athletic build. Excellent condition. Very good ring presence self-assured, with a gait that is both effortless and precise—He shows no hesitation, exuding alertness and energy. Best of Breed and Pastoral Group 3. Congratulations.

AV Pastoral Puppy

1st Hime SHADOWESS SWEET AS HONEY Nice type Shetland Sheepdog puppy presents a pleasing overall picture. Level topline, though at present he is a little long in body and would benefit from more sweep over the loin. Well shaped head with a gentle taper and good ear placement, creating the desired sweet and alert expression. Eyes are dark and well set. Neck is of adequate length, flowing smoothly into reasonably well-laid shoulders. Chest is developing appropriately for age, with good forechest evident. Coat is of good texture and coat developing. Presented in good condition. On the move, confident and happy, moving freely with a steady, true gait, maintaining topline well for a puppy.

Group 2 Brown, Thomas, Bibby & Cox DILLON AUS SILKENWOOD Very good type GSD sent through to the group from breed judge, Amy Clinton. Over medium size, excellent pigmentation. Very good head with good stop, deep muzzle and strong under-jaw. Neck flows into well laid shoulder and firm topline and good length of croup. Well boned. Good length & angle of upper arm. Good depth of brisket and well developed chest. Very good underline. Good turn of stifle. Broad thighs. On the limit for me in the second thigh. Moves soundly with good drive and good forward reach. In excellent condtion, well presented – a little word to the handler to be mindful of over-stretching him which creates the image of a peaked topline, which he does not have nor is desirable for me

1st Sweet SAINTLYTHANS SWEET BRIAN Masculine male of good type with a strong head and correct expression. Good topline, depth of chest, and well-muscled hindquarters. Stands east to west in front, which affects front action on the move. Good pigmentation and presented in excellent condition.

Rottweiler Open

1st Sweet EUROPE TEREN BOSSROT IMP UKR Well-balanced and attractive bitch with a strong yet feminine head. Broadly muscled throughout. Well angulated fore and aft, with well-developed, powerful hindquarters and good width through the thigh. Holds a firm topline and carries a well-ribbed body with strong loin and a pleasing underline. Stands east to west in front and feet should be tighter. Liked her clean outline, and positive movement, which showed strength and drive. Presented in excellent condition. Best of Breed & Working Group 3

2nd Hopgood CH/UKR CH/MOD GRIZZLY VOM CHERNIY KUMIR SAINTLYTHANS Balanced proportions with a well-developed, good head and expression. Strong, muscular neck flowing into good shoulders. Maintains a firm, level topline with a well-developed chest. Correct angulation fore and aft with well-muscled hindquarters. Firm, well-padded feet. On the move, showed good reach and drive, covering the ground efficiently.

Alaskan Malamute Open (2,1)

1st Partridge-Bebb & Partridge-Bebb KASKAE SHOW ME THE MONET AVEC KEIGHANYA A handsome, well-boned and strongly built male of excellent type, presenting a lovely character and an expressive, masculine head. Big and powerful, he is already fully mature and does not require further growth. He has a strong head with good ear set, though ears could be slightly smaller. Strong neck flowing into a well-constructed body with balanced angulation fore and aft. Good coat and condtion, he impressed with his sound, functional movement, covering the ground with purpose. A dog of real presence and quality, whose personality and ring presence, coupled with his proficient handler added to his appeal. Best of Breed and a worthy Working Group Winner.

Bernese Mountain Dog Post Graduate (1,0)

1st Marshall BERNANNAN HEART AND SOUL Good type with a lovely, approachable temperament who presented well in the ring. Balanced outline with good bone and substance. Good head with a kind, gentle expression. Well developed through the body, showing acceptable depth and proportion. Angulation is moderate and well matched front and rear, allowing for steady, effortless movement around the ring. A genuine, honest dog who showed willingly and gave a commendable performance. Best of breed.

Bernese Mountain Dog Open (2,0)

1st Williams TINLAND PINK SAPPHIRE Good outline with a pleasing overall balance. Good head and expression and well laid shoulders. Front construction is adequate, and he is well ribbed with a good rear assembly. Slightly short coupled, which shows in profile, but this does not detract from a sound performance. Feet could be tighter. Sound coming and going, showing good reach and power, covering the ground steadily.

2nd Marshall MATTHEW PUCHATE PERLY OF BERNANNAN (VW) (IMP POL) Substantial, quite tall and presenting as a strong, typey male with a masculine head. Sound throughout. Well boned. On the move he was free and easy, covering the ground comfortably and maintaining a balanced outline.

Dobermann Post Graduate (1,0)

1st Cappell & Brough & Brannan ANIRAZ WILD CYBELE AVEC LLEPAC Appealing puppy of very good breed type, presenting a pretty, feminine outline with a lovely head, dark expressive eyes and neat, well-set ears. She is beautifully presented and in very good condition for her age, showing a long, lean neck flowing into a clean, elegant outline. On the move she was a pleasure to watch, moving with ease and balance, flowing effortlessly around the ring with confidence. An assured and polished performance. Best Puppy, Best of Breed, Working Puppy Group Winner and Adult Group 2.

1st Stimpson ARCTICSKIES FOREST FAIRY AT ADELLARZ A very good type bitch with a well-made, balanced outline and correct overall conformation. She has a pleasing head shape with good breed expression, feminine yet strong. Shoulders are well laid, allowing for good reach in front, and her construction fore and aft is harmonious. On the move she showed ease and drive, covering the ground smoothly with efficiency and purpose. Presented in good condition, she gave a confident and capable performance in the ring. Best of Breed.

2nd Stimpson CWNHAPUS TAKHINI WITH ADELLARZ A substantial, well-constructed male conveying balance in outline and presented in excellent condition. Good head, dark eyes, erect ears. Well-laid, well-angulated shoulders. His harsh, thick coat was a feature. On the move he was very sound, showing steady, ground-covering movement with purpose.

Siberian Husky Open (1,0)

1st Stimpson CWNHAPUS KING IN THE NORTH FOR ADELLARZ A heavier-set male of good balance and proportion, well-proportioned head with good eye shape, correct ear set. Overall type is pleasing, and while he could carry a little more body, this does not detract from his quality. On the move he is a good, sound mover, showing clean, easy action and maintaining a balanced outline.
