Sedgefield & District Agricultural & Horticultural Society

Breed: Working Group

Many thanks to the committee of Sedgefield & District for the opportunity to judge the Working group at their show. All the committee and helpers created a lovely welcoming atmosphere. Thanks also to my Steward for the day who was excellent. It was a very windy day and he had his work cut out trying to keep all the paperwork from blowing away! Unfortunately the ring allocated to me was really not suitable for large breeds,  very small and heavily sloped, it was practically impossible to assess large working dogs movement in the space provided, but all exhibitors really tried their best.

Group 1 went to the only dog I hadn’t judged in its classes, Gilhespy’s Luscinia Designed For Life.  A lovely 2 yr old red/white boxer female in super condition.  She had a very typical head and expression, neck flowing smoothly into well laid shoulders. Deep chest, short loin and a strong topline. Well angulated rear without exaggeration, she was a powerful and accurate mover and a clear winner on the day.

Alaskan Malumute (1 entry, absent)

BMD post graduate(1/1)

1st Jefferson’s Elbrusbern Amadeus.  30 month old male in very good condition and and coat.  Correct eye shape with lovely kind expression.  Strong bone and well shaped compact feet.  Just needs to muscle up and mature a bit but a lovely boy.

BMD Open (0/0)

Tibetan Mastiff (3/1).

1st Hind’s Callowdale Tibet Tira at Diamoneo.  18 month old strongly made, well grown young dog.  He has a well proportioned head, strong bone, v good depth of chest and presented a lovely outline.  Not moving as well as I expect he can on the day, needing more drive from rear but the ring didn’t really allow the bigger dogs to get into their stride.

Siberian Husky

Graduate (4/4).

1st. Smith & Balmers Howlvalleys Tiramisu.  Just under a year, this girl showed a breed typical outline and was in good condition.  A bit heavy in head, but had Strong bone, good balanced angulation  and best mover in class which won her this place.

2nd Rogersons Gercekask Born T Run into Nosregor.

3rd Colemans Rhykia Fears Nothing.

Open

(1/1)

1st Colemans Icehowlers Spectacular.  3 yr old grey white girl in excellent condition. Lovely head properties giving very typical breed expression. Small well set ears. Good depth of chest, strong topline and well angulated both front and rear.  Moved accurately but held back by ring conditions, BOB and group 2.

Greenland Dog (2/0)

Russian Black Terrier.

Graduate (1/1).

Kerrigans Margaritka Lavina Ederlezi for Blakdynasti NAF Taf.  19 month old girl, very large and upstanding and in super condition. Strong head with good length & strength to muzzle. When stacked appeared a wee bit stuffy in neck, but just needs time to mature.  Excellent coat, strong boned girl with good rear angulation, not really able to get into her stride today but I would love to see her when fully mature and in a bigger ring.BoB.

Open (1/1).

Hovawart Open (1/1) 1st Robinson & Browns Hightimbers Oreo Cookie. A lovely 3 yr old Black/gold girl. Well shaped head, excellent temperament as you expect from this breed. She held a lovely outline on stack but not holding topline as well on move. Rottweiler Graduate (4/3) 1st Denver Smith & Brawn’s Javladare Mr Boombastic. 1 year old medium sized boy in very good muscular condition. Good expression, strong masculine head, I liked his height/ length proportions. Excellent temperament, moved well but not really getting into his stride in profile, no doubt would go much better in a bigger ring. 2nd Simpsons Rominjays Venus. Lovely 6.5 month girl showing lots of promise. Good head, v nice outline, moved well for one so young. Best puppy in group. 3rd Cooksons Steigen Banksie Open (4/3). 1st Featherstones Kenxtwen Sweet Diamond by Featherttor. 4 year old girl with a classic outline. Deep chest, strong bone, excellent topline which she held on move. Best mover in class which won her BoB and working group 3. 2nd Cooksons Darkarmar Super Trouper. Large strongly made dog in excellent condition. A wee bit heavy in head. Lovely outline he kept his topline on move but another who I suspect would move better in a bigger ring. 3rd Parry’s Gilcoru Rhodri the Great. Bullmastiff Open (3/1). 1st Gilhespeys Luscinia Designed For Life. 2 year old fawn girl, well matured for age. Strong but feminine head with a lovely square muzzle. Correctly shaped eyes giving a very typical expression. Well boned, great depth of chest, strong solid topline which she retained on move. Whilst she moved soundly she could tighten in front a bit, and she seemed a disinterested andput in minimum effort on the move. Pity as I liked her very much. Group 4.
