Breed: Retriever (Golden)

GOOSNARGH & LONGRIDGE AGRICULTIRAL SOCIETY

OPEN SHOW SATURDAY 5th JULY 2025

LONGRIDGE SHOW-GROUND LOWER LANE, LONGRIDGE, NR PRESTON, LANCS, PR3 3SL

I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Society for the kind invitation to judge the Gundog breeds today, specifically the Flat-Coated Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, and Labrador Retrievers, at this prestigious event. A heartfelt thank you also goes out to the exhibitors who presented their wonderful dogs and graciously accepted my placings.

I must extend my appreciation to David Bumford and Tracey Sheppard for their excellent stewardship and for ensuring the ring ran smoothly throughout the day. While it was unfortunate that some were unable to attend, it was nonetheless a rewarding experience, and I was pleased with my placings.

Thank you again to all involved for making the day a success!

PUPPY (4.2a)

1ST BP – PG3 TAYLOR & TENN, MISS C & MR M, - STRETTONHILLS HOITY TOITY

8½-month-old pale golden bitch who caught my eye immediately. A confident, stylish youngster who moved out with purpose and ease, maintaining a level topline and correct tail carriage throughout. She is beautifully balanced in profile with a feminine, well-proportioned head, soft expression, dark eyes, and excellent pigmentation. She has a clean reach of neck flowing into well-laid shoulders and a strong topline. Well-constructed front and rear with a pleasing bend of stifle and straight hocks. Presented in superb coat and condition. A promising puppy with a bright future.

2ND TAYLOR & TENN, MISS C A & MR M, - NON-STOP DUNCAN MACLEOD FROM STRETTONHILL

(IMP HUN)

Another lovely pale golden puppy whom I’ve had the pleasure of judging before. Now 9½ months old, this young dog continues to impress. He has a handsome, masculine head that is well-balanced and not overdone, with dark brown eyes and a kind, friendly expression. Good length of neck set into well-laid shoulders. He is short-coupled with a straight front, good bone, and neat, tight feet. Nicely balanced overall with pleasing proportions. Just preferred the movement of the winner on the day, but a quality young male with much to like.
