Goosnargh & Longridge Agricultural Society

Breed: Retriever (Labrador)

GOOSNARGH & LONGRIDGE AGRICULTIRAL SOCIETY

OPEN SHOW SATURDAY 5th JULY 2025

LONGRIDGE SHOWGROUND LOWER LANE, LONGRIDGE, NR PRESTON, LANCS, PR3 3SL

I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Society for the kind invitation to judge the Gundog breeds today, specifically the Flat-Coated Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, and Labrador Retrievers, at this prestigious event. A heartfelt thank you also goes out to the exhibitors who presented their wonderful dogs and graciously accepted my placings.

I must extend my appreciation to David Bumford and Tracey Sheppard for their excellent stewardship and for ensuring the ring ran smoothly throughout the day. While it was unfortunate that some were unable to attend, it was nonetheless a rewarding experience, and I was pleased with my placings.

Thank you again to all involved for making the day a success!

RETRIEVER (LABRADOR)

PUPPY (4.1a)

1ST BP - GORDEN-SMITH & BIBBY, MRS K A & MRS A T - MEADOWLINE WHIZZ BANG AT BRUXINHO

8-month-old black bitch of lovely type and full of promise. Feminine head with a kind, gentle expression and dark, expressive eyes. Clean neck flowing into well-laid shoulders. She has ample depth and width of chest, good spring of rib, and is well-balanced throughout. Correct front and rear angulation, with good length of leg, strong bone, and neat, tidy feet. Would have preferred a thicker, more otter-like tail to complete the picture. Moved soundly and with confidence for her age, maintaining a balanced outline.

2ND HOLDEN, MRS L, - FLYENPYGS IN BLANKETS

6-month-old black dog, lighter in frame and longer in leg than the winner, but well-proportioned throughout and just right for his age. Attractive, balanced outline from head to tail, with nothing overdone. Pleasing head with a kind expression, developing nicely. Stands on good, tight feet. Moved soundly and steadily around the ring, maintaining a level topline.

3RD RAWLINSON & BALSHAW, MR & MRS M J, MISS L & MR & MRS D P - HALSHIMOOR WICKED AT SHANORRELL NAF TAF

JUNIOR (2.2a)

SPECIAL YEARLING (2.1a)

1ST MULLETT, MRS T A & MR M J - SEATALLAN DAMSON

20-month-old black dog with a masculine head, good stop, and kind expression. Clean neck leading into a level topline. He has good bone, ample length of leg, and stands on neat, well-shaped feet. Balanced in outline and maturing steadily. Moved soundly, covering the ground with ease, although slightly close behind.

POST GRADUATE (6.5a)

1ST PROCTOR, MR G & MRS P - LEJIE SUGAR ALMIND AT PENKARIC

3¼-year-old yellow bitch standing alone in the class but worthy of her placing. Pretty feminine head and kind expression. Dark eye and pigment enhance her soft features. Clean reach of neck into well-placed shoulders. Short-coupled with a good spring of rib, balanced throughout with pleasing proportions. Moved well, covering all ground.

OPEN (4.3a)

1ST BOB GP 2 – SMITH, C M, - FLYENPYG JURGEN CHOP JW

18-month-old black dog with a masculine head, kind eye, and intelligent expression. Clean through the neck into well-laid shoulders. Strong, short-coupled body with good depth and spring of rib. Excellent bone and neat feet. Well-angulated quarters with good width and strength behind. Moved soundly and with drive, covering the ground with purpose. Handled to advantage. Pleased to award him Best of Breed and delighted to see him take Group 2.
