Welsh Dobermann Club

The Welsh Dobermann Club Open Show,     11th October 2025

Thank you to the Welsh Dobermann Club for the privilege of judging at your open show and the beautiful gift, and to the efficient stewards who kept everything running smoothly. Thank you to all exhibitors for their entry and for the sporting acceptance of my decisions. The level of quality was consistent throughout, and I was splitting hairs in many classes. I was very pleased with my principal winners, and look forward to watching the youngsters as they continue to mature.

1st Sharp, Sharp, Goodall & Goodall’s MIANNA FULL CIRCLE WITH MARTIFERS 4.5mths bl/r with a super outgoing character, it was lovely to see both her and her handler very much enjoying their time in the ring. Elegant and curvaceous in outline, from her lean arched neck to gently sloping topline, well-filled croup, correct tailset, underline a little accentuated at this stage, and evident forechest. Feminine head with skull equal to foreface, flat cheeks and lovely dark well-shaped eye; muzzle and underjaw still developing. Reasonable shoulder and upper arm, with depth to tight elbows. Straight legs with strong pasterns and a good turn of stifle down to parallel hocks and correct catlike feet. Moved out very positively with a nice flowing action. BEST BABY IN SHOW.

1st Robertson’s COCKNEYOKA COMMANDER. 7.5mths bl/r, standard square boy presenting an elegant and stylish picture. Handsome well-balanced head with parallel planes, neat correctly set ears, dark almond eyes, and a strong underjaw. Long lean neck arches into a good shoulder and almost equal upper arm, standing on good round bone and tight feet. Today he was knuckling on the stack which affected his front movement, and unfortunately cost him in the challenge. Ribs are well-sprung, with a short loin and tidy underline, just needs to regain his depth and fill out his topline a little as matures. Rear angulation is balanced to front, with a nice turn of stifle, good width of thigh below a well-rounded croup and correct tailset with plenty behind, down to clean hocks.

1st Brough’s ANIIRAZ AJAX THE GREATER 9.5mths bl/r, super square and compact, with ample bone and good muscling for his age. Lovely strong well-proportioned head, with parallel planes, good length and depth of muzzle to an equal and narrow backskull, and well-set small ears and dark eyes giving a typical expression. Muscular neck of good length into moderate front assembly with straight legs, strong pasterns and tight arched feet. Good forechest and depth of brisket with well-sprung ribs. Ultra compact topline which just needs to settle as he matures, into a clean croup and tailset and rear angles matching front. Moved out with confidence and a balanced gait. BEST PUPPY DOG and RESERVE BEST PUPPY IN SHOW

JD (2,1)

1st Merchant’s KRIEGER’S MARK MIWORDS AT MANDAREUS 17mths bl/r with a clean outline displaying strength and elegance. Pleasing masculine head with level planes and excellent underjaw, would like a little more length of muzzle, with dark almond eyes giving a lovely expression. Good reach of neck into a clean shoulder and matching upper arm, with well-boned straight legs and short strong pasterns. Front is parallel with good width of forechest and depth of brisket with elbows lying close. Straight topline slopes slightly into strong loins and correct fall of pelvis; croup could be a touch more filled, but tailset is correct with plenty behind. Rear balanced to front, with equal lengths, good width of second thigh and a nice turn of stifle down to clean straight hocks. On the move he was tidy coming towards with a balanced and powerful profile action.

1st Parker & Henderson’s TUWOS NOTORIOUS (IKC) Substantial well-boned 2yr bl/r with a compact and balanced frame. Masculine head with good length, almost parallel planes, flat skull, clean cheeks and good underjaw, just a touch lippy. Eyes are dark and correctly shaped and set giving a super expression. Lovely reachy neck into a clean shoulder with equal return of upper arm with elbows lying close, straight parallel legs and decent forechest. Firm gently sloping topline with slight dip behind the wither, into a well-filled croup, correct pelvis and moderately angulated and muscular rear. Rather exuberant on the move today and thus a little uncoordinated front to rear, however in the brief moments he settled he displayed a balanced and energetic gait.

1st Brannan & Mycroft’s CH SUPETA’S BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN JW 22mths eye-catching br/r who I awarded highly as a junior, and my opinion has not changed now he is more mature. His square and shapely outline shows balance and strength with super muscling. Strong masculine head presents an elongated wedge, with parallel planes, well-placed ears and excellent underjaw. Arched neck flows cleanly into a well-laid shoulder with very good length of upper arm with enough return, well-developed forechest and deep brisket into a tidy tuck-up. Short strong topline flows into a firm loin, correct pelvic angle, well-filled croup and good tailset. Love his rear with its correct angles, equal thighs, super bend of stifle and clean strong hocks. He powered around the ring showing a very balanced profile action and excellent drive from the rear. Very happy to award him BEST DOG and ultimately BEST IN SHOW.

2nd Seward’s TEUSCHONS THE FIERCE KNIGHT WITH ELLEONIA JW. Quality Bl/r male rising 4, standard sized and square with the right balance of strength and elegance. Well-proportioned head with a strong deep muzzle of equal length to a narrow skull which could be a touch flatter, with almond eyes well-filled under and neat correctly set ears. Muscular long neck arches cleanly into a well-laid shoulder and almost equal upper arm with good return, placing his straight legs well under, displaying his ample forechest and deep brisket with neat elbows. Strong topline into a short firm loin and correct pelvis, with a well moulded croup and muscular hindquarters matching the front, reflected in his balanced gait. A lovely boy full of breed type, he pushed 1 very hard, just preferred the younger boy’s slightly stronger rear action today. RESERVE BEST DOG.

Firm clean topline and matching underline, into a strong loin, correctly angled pelvis, well-filled croup and good tailset. Well-developed hindquarters with angles matching front, good width of second thigh and a well-bent stifle, down to strong parallel hocks. 1st De Haaff’s KRIEGER’S NEW ILLUSION. 1st in Minor Puppy.

2nd Capell, Brough & Brannan’s ANIIRAZ WILD CYBELE AVEC LLEPAC Tall 9.5mths bl/r with a clean compact shape and strength proportionate to her frame. Pretty head of good length, planes equal but still to level , flat narrow backsull, clean cheeks, decent underjaw but a little throaty, with high set close lying ears and well-placed almond eyes giving a lovely alert expression. Long lean neck arches smoothly into moderate front angles and good forechest, standing a touch wide in front with feet slightly turned in, however elbows are tidy and feet are tightly arched. Excellent topline, straight and firm, sloping into a short strong loin, croup well-rounded but would prefer more length, into correct tailset. Rear angles match front, with musculature developing well, just needs to strengthen at the hock as she matures. Moved out with energy and enthusiasm, could be cleaner out and back, but in profile was balanced and free-flowing.

1st Beck’s SACARIAS BLUE JEAN BABY AT BEKESHA. Smart 20mths bl/r bitch with a clean and harmonious outline. Long feminine head with excellent planes, good width and depth to muzzle, and plenty of underjaw. Dark well-placed almond eyes and neat ears give that typical breed expression. Elegant neck flows into a decent shoulder, equal return of upper arm but would prefer a little more length to place her legs more under and give more reach on the move; however her front is parallel with elbows tight to brisket and a good forechest. Topline is strong standing and on the move, sloping gently into correct croup and tailset. Well-developed hindquarters with good angles and equal lengths, down to strong straight hocks and tight feet. Moved out very well in profile with an easy and balanced gait and good drive from the rear. RESERVE BEST BITCH.

2nd Nicol’s SUPETA’S BLACK ROSE AT EVNJAYS. 22mths bl/r girl with a clean, elegant and compact outline. I feel she would benefit from a little more weight and ring confidence to better show off her attributes, of which she has many. Head is feminine and well-proportioned, with good length of muzzle, level planes, neat well-set ears and dark eyes giving a lovely expression. Long, lean neck arches into a smooth wither and good front, with parallel legs and tight nicely arched feet. Straight topline slopes to a short firm loin and correct pelvis, croup and tailset. Good angulation front and rear enabled precise and balanced movement in all directions.

PGB (5,2)

1st Trego’s AMAZON BREATHLESS. 20mths blr/r, square and substantial whilst retaining femininity. Loved her head – strong and well-proportioned, with a flat narrow skull, deep muzzle, super underjaw, well-set and shaped ears, and lovely dark eyes giving that proper Dobermann expression. Long muscular neck arches into a good front assembly, with close lying elbows and legs parallel from all angles, with good round bone and nice short pasterns. Well-developed forechest, deep brisket and a clean underline rising to a short strong loin. Firm compact topline, croup could have a little more fill but tailset is correct. Powerful rear, with angles matched to front and strong hocks combining to produce balanced movement with plenty of drive and energy.

2nd Seward & Mycroft’s SUPETA’S SKY’S THE LIMIT WITH ELLEONIA JW. Another strong bl/r girl, this one 22mths and whilst larger framed that 1st, still presented an elegant and feminine picture. Well-balanced head with level planes and flat skull, lovely deep muzzle and strong underjaw, with well-set ears and dark eyes giving a super arrogant expression. Long lean neck flows smoothly into a decent shoulder and slightly shorter upper arm with good return with elbows set close to an excellent depth of brisket complemented by a good forechest and spring of rib. Stood on strong round bone with straight legs, tidy hocks and correct cat-like feet. Underline is clean with good tuck up, a touch of length to the loin causing her straight, sloping topline to be a little loose here on the move. Correct fall of pelvis and well-moulded croup, good tailset, with well-muscled and angled hindquarters which powered her around the ring.

3rd Robertson’s ARITAUR DAYBREAK AT COCKNEYOKA

LB (2,0)

1st Brannan, Mycroft & Brough’s SUPETA’S PLAYING WITH FIRE AVEC ANIIRAZ Elegant 22mths br/r girl, well-proportioned and shown in super hard condition. Strong yet feminine balanced head with excellent length, equal planes, flat cheeks and correctly set eyes and ears. Lovely reach of neck into a decent shoulder, upper arm has equal return but would prefer a little more length to bring her front in tighter stood and on the move; however, elbows are tight and she stands on straight legs with strong pasterns and super cat-like feet. Topline is strong and compact, sloping slightly into a short firm loin and correct pelvis, croup and tailset. Powerful hindquarters, well-muscled with good angles and strong parallel hocks. Uses herself very well on the move, with flowing and flashy profile movement displaying good reach at the fore and excellent rotary drive at the rear.

2nd Caldicott’s ARITAUR CIRILLA WITH PHILMONT JW 2.5yrs bl/r bitch with a lovely shapely and square outline. Pretty head with good length, level planes and flat narrow skull, would prefer a little more underjaw, lips are tight and cheeks clean, with typical expression from dark almond eyes. Super forechest and deep brisket, with tight elbows and a straight front. Long elegant neck, could be a touch cleaner over the withers, into a compact and straight strong topline, with good fall of pelvis and clean croup. Well-angled rear and strong straight hocks gave clean and precise footfall, but she was a little flat today and dropped her head on the move which just gave 1st the edge.

OB (3,2)

1st Pardoe’s ARITAUR DARING AT DOBIEDAR JW Super smart and flashy 2yrs bl/r bitch, with excellent substance and conditioning throughout. Beautiful head, a strong and clean wedge with equal proportions and a deep muzzle and correct underjaw, completed with the darkest of almond-shaped eyes and lovely near ears. Long dry neck arches elegantly into a correctly laid shoulder and upper arm, with elbows lying close to excellent depth of brisket and a super forechest. Front is true with well-boned straight legs, short strong pasterns and lovely tight feet, although I would prefer a little more length of foreleg. Strong topline flows cleanly into a short strong loin, well-filled croup and good tailset. Pelvis is set correctly, into a balanced and lovely muscled rear with enough turn of stifle. Whilst I would like to see a little more dynamism on the move, she was super clean and true from all directions. Very happy to award her BEST BITCH and a very close RESERVE BEST IN SHOW.

VD/B (3,2)

1st Samways’ SWNYDWR WASSAP Classy 7.5yrs bl/r male whose exuberance and energy was a delight to see. Standard sized with good substance and a lovely curvaceous outline, shown in excellent hard condition. Well-balanced head with clean cheeks and flat skull, good length of muzzle but would like a little more depth, with super neat ears and excellent expression from almond-shaped eyes. Dry throat and a long lean neck into a well-laid shoulder with matching upper arm of almost equal length, with tight elbows to a deep brisket and good spring of rib, with well-developed forechest and tidy underline. Whilst I would prefer a little more leg length to give more equal length:height ratio, his topline is straight and compact and his loin short and firm, into an excellent pelvis, croup and tailset. His well-angled and muscular rear and strong hocks powered him around the ring, displaying vigorous action and accurate footfall in all directions. BEST VETERAN IN SHOW.
