I would like to thank the society for the invitation to judge BIS at their show. The committee were incredibly hospitable with the show running smoothly. A big thank you to my very able stewards for keeping a smile on my face all day.
A cold start to the day where some of the dogs were feeling it and I feel that I didn’t see the best of the Dalmatians today. Some were unsure of the loose gravel underfoot which cost a place or 2.

It was lovely to see this girl back in the BPIS ring where she put on a strong performance.
2nd - ENGLAND, MS M - SILVERSPOT VOYAGE OF THE SEA. A liver spotted dog who I wouldn’t want any bigger. Masculine headpiece with being broad in skull with high placed ears. Muzzle to skull ratio is good leaving the headpiece balanced. Eyes are oval in shape and of good colour. On the move this girl is brisk and balanced all whilst maintaining balance on the move super pleased to have judged her and I shall watch her career. Congratulations on Best in Show.
Reserve Best in Show - HOWLETT, BOGGIA & KOULERMOU, MISS R, MISS C & MRS I - INA'S FASHION IMPERIAL (IMP DEU). What a striking male who is beautifully made and balanced for one so young. A masculine headpiece with a long flat skull. Ears are small and of correct shape. Eyes are oval in shape and of good colour which showcases his expression. A beautifully arched neck leading into a super shoulder placement. Long limbs which are good for bone finished with compact feet. Chest is deep and still developing. Good length to back with a super length and strength to loin. Rear assembly is just as good as the front. With super muscle tone and angles well throughout. In BIS this boy was straight and parallel with a lovely rear drive and reaching low in front. Unfortunately in BPIS he started to tire and got a little untidy in front.
Best Puppy In Show - KING, MISS I - ORIGINAL BEAUTY LADY ORLEANSNOW (IMP CZE). Samoyed. A young Samoyed bitch who I feel has a very exciting future. On first look she is beautifully balanced and exceptionally well schooled for one so young. A feminine headpiece with a broad flat skull tapering to create the wedge shape. Ears are set and placed well on head and of good size. Beautiful almond eyes with super pigmentation obliquely set. Getting hands on this girl you really appreciate what is under the coat. An arched neck of good length leading into well laid shoulders with the cleanest of fronts finished with long flat feet which makes her fit for purpose. Chest is developing well. Broad and muscular throughout body and loin finished with a correct tail set. Rear is so well constructed with a good turn of stifle and enough muscle. On the move this girl has power in rear whilst maintaining balance. When I finished judging her in the group I thought to myself it’s going to be hard to beat her today as she was on form. I will watch her career with great interest. BPAVNSC, PPG1 and ultimately BPIS.
Reserve Best Puppy in Show - O'CONNELL, MS A - LETOHA MAID IN ITALY Welsh Terrier who was pushing the Samoyed. And once had a toilet break I then saw a truer view of her movement. Lovely and compact. A balanced headpiece with a good width to skull and length to muzzle with good depth. Lovely eye which is dark and full of mischief. High set forward facing ears which were good for size and shape. Arched neck leading into good shoulders with a super straight front with upright pasterns and small cat feet. Chest developing well. Topline is firm with good length to loin finished with a high set tail. Rear has lovely balance with a good turn of stifle, muscular thighs and strong hocks. One the move everything was balanced showing a lovely drive in reach with a super reach in front.
Best Veteran in Show - HANSFORD & DONNELLY, MRS D & MISS C - LE MAGICIEN D'OZ DU CLOS MILLETTE AT PEREGOS (IMP FRA) Catalan Sheepdog. If you want to see a veteran that moves soundly look no further. This dog showed earlier in the day and when I saw him in the BIS ring later in the day he put on a performance that couldn’t be faulted. The owner/handler should commended on presenting a veteran in great condition. A super headpiece with good muzzle to skull proportions. High set ears which lie close to the head. Eyes are set well and round of good colour. Short, muscular neck leading into well laid shoulder with a good return of upper arm with elbows close to a deep chest with well sprung ribs. Good for bone. Super level topline with a muscular loin which leads to a low set tail. Rear is well constructed with super muscle tone. Well let down hocks with low double dewclaws. Coat in good condition. Best Pastoral Veteran and ultimately BVIS.
Reserve Beat Veteran in Show - WEST, MRS - BYABYE BRILLARE WITH ARCHIDAX JW Dachshund (Min Wire-Haired). A feminine girl throughout. Slightly arched skull with ears set high and leathers of good length. Lovely dark almond eyes obliquely set. Clean long slightly arched neck set nicely into a good shoulder placement with enough return of upper arm. Strong for bone throughout with a short upper arm. Long in body with a muscular loin staying level throughout finished with a tail that extends the topline. Chest well developed and well ribbed. Rear is very well muscled for a veteran with enough angles. On the move this girl impresses with the drive that she generates with enough reach in front and covering the ground super well.
