Critiques

Firstly I want to thank Torquay and District Canine Society for inviting me to judge. I thoroughly enjoyed my day and had some lovely entries.

Retriever (Golden)

Puppy – 5 entries (0 absent)

1st – Porter’s Shearstone Hasta La Vista – Promising young pup at just 6months old. In lovely coat and condition for age. Good head yet to mature more. Good length neck with shoulder well laid back. Straight forelegs, not over-angulated in any way. Moved steady round the ring maintaining a level topline and balance throughout Showed enthusiastically and temperament as I would expect. BP

2nd – Winsor-Williams’ Aurgentious Dearov IM – well matured puppy for 10months old. Level topline and strong head more matured than 1. Good spring of rib and short coupled. Tail carriage slightly higher than I would like. Moved well but preferred the movement of 1.

3rd – Clunie’s Warrentor Abilene

Special Yearling – 11 entries (2 absent)

1st – Porter’s Shearstone Janner - 20month dog with pleasing outline and stood out in a large class Strong head with kind eye, correctly positioned ears and good length neck. Good length of neck into well laid back shoulders. Well angulated stifle into well let down hocks. Short coupled. Good movement round the ring with drive maintaining a level topline and good tail carriage. RBOB

2nd – Cole’s Rooksbury Aurora – 17month old bitch caught my eye in the class . Feminine head with kind eye. Good angulation with hocks well let down with well bent stifle. Good overall proportion. 1 moved more freely today but was close between them.

3rd – Scuffle’s Ramchaine A Red Red Rose

Graduate – 4 entries (0 absent)

1st – Cole’s Rooksbury Aurora

2nd – Mace’s Tillsun Mistletoe Maestro At Telanjan – lovely mature boy not overdone at all. Strong head into good length of neck. Feet not as tight as 1. Well let down hock and good bend of stifle. Settled well in ring and moved straight and true with good drive and enthusiasm. Correct tailset.

3rd – Watts’ Stormhayes Hop into Spring

Open – 8 entries (0 absent)

1st – Clunie’s Warrentor Nohkalikai JW A very strong class and this bitch caught my eye as soon as she came into the ring. Matured well with great condition and coat. Feminine head with dark pigmentation and kind eye into good length of neck. Good spring of rib and short coupled. Tight feet with good muscling and strong second thigh. Movement is her highlight and it was a dream to watch her glide round the ring with a level topline and good drive. Very fit for purpose and shows capability of a good days work. Easy to place her first today and award her Best of Breed.

2nd – Lewis’ Fairwinds in Space Man JW Presented in fabulous coat and condition. Strong masculine head with kind eye onto clean neck and well laid back shoudlers. Lovely feet with good bone and structure. Moved very smoothly and stood out but tough to meet 1 today who just pipped on movement.

3rd – Coad’s Tinklersroc Bon Bon
