Omagh & District Canine Club

Breed: Gundog breeds and Gundog groups

I would like to thank Modwena and her loyal band of helpers at Omagh & District CC for looking after us so well at this friendly, well-run show. It was a true pleasure to judge today. Thanks also to my steward, who was also club photographer, you worked so hard all day. Thanks also to all the exhibitors who entered under me today, for allowing me to go over your lovely dogs and accepting my decisions with grace.

Retriever (Labrador)

I was sorry not to have more Labs to go over, but though he stood alone, I just LOVED my Best of Breed winner, he just screamed breed-type to me!

Class 35 - Puppy D/B: 0 entries

Class 36 - Special Yearling D/B: 2 (2)

Class 37 – Open Dog: 3 (2)

1st Flego & Douglas’ Int Ch, Hr Ch, Slo Ch, Hun Ch Dash Blackrock Siscia. He commanded the ring as he came in, belying his 5 years, he was full of bounce. With a strong, masculine head and kind expression, his tail never stopped wagging! He moved freely in a correct, thick coat. BoB, Best in Group, Best In Show.

Class 38 – Open Bitch: 2 (2)

Spaniel (American Cocker)

Just loved judging this breed today, and although it’s not a grooming competition, some of the presentation was truly stunning. I enjoyed getting my hands on dogs I have never gone over before, it was a privilege, thank you.

Class 41 – Puppy D/B: 0 entries

Class 42 – Special Yearling D/B: 2 (1)

1st Marsh & Hill’s Little Life Bright Power Flow (Imp Fin). Masculine gold I year old boy with strong bone, kind expression and correct head proportions. He moved freely around the ring. He was straight front and rear, a lovely example.

Class 43 – Open D/B: 4 (2)

1st Donaldson’s GB Ch, Ir Sh Ch, CIB Chicomy’s Rmour Has It CW ‘22, ‘23, ‘24, Cent Ch, Cen W, Ir Jnr Ch Gold bitch, groomed to perfection. I have admired her from ringside before, and she didn’t disappoint, with feminine strength of bone, lovely head proportions and effortless movement, flowing around the ring. BoB, G3

2nd Marsh’s Ir Sh Ch Little Life Xciting ,N’ Much More Imp Fin An Ch ’24 Black 2 year old male, with lovely outline, bone and tailset, he pushed 1 all the way. Lovely nature and super movement.

Spaniel (Cocker)

In general, I loved the compact square outlines, with merry cocker movement. A couple of the dogs were carrying a bit more weight than ideal, and a couple were obviously inexperienced in the ring, but these factors can all be worked on. Personally, I judge the dog as well as I can regardless of its inexperience or reluctance, but I do look for merriness in this breed!

Class 44 Puppy Dog – 2 (0)

1st Brennan’s Charbonnel Chaperone at Kerrijoy 7 month old black male up to size for his age. Lovely, masculine head with strong bone and kind expression. Legs correctly straight fore and aft, good, positive movement.

1st Bailie’s Thornbrook Stage Whisperer. 3 1/3 year old blue roan. A compact, square package, with nice balance and merry movement. Ribs well-sprung, angulation balanced front and rear.
