Critique for Pastoral Groups and BIS

I had a great time judging this, the inaugural show for the Society. Thank you for the invitation and for such a good show and great teamwork on the day. My stewards worked all day – and were kept very busy. The exhibitors and their dogs were a total joy. The honour of awarding BIS/BPIS and BVIS is one that will stay with me. I wish the Society continued success – and all the exhibitors much fun and fulfilment in the future. With so much going on (with two shows in process) and stewards working to keep everything moving, any omissions or errors here are mine and mine alone.

BORDER COLLIE

Junior (2)

1. Kempton. Borderbrook Final Destiny. Very pretty and feminine 10mo bitch. Lovely head with bright, intelligent expression, correct for balance and overall proportions

2. Walker. Borderbrook Final Straw at Ravenskirk. Litter brother to 1. 10 mo male, handsome in head and in super coat. His typey outline was very pleasing on the stand. On the move he is currently a little unbalanced, so that to come. A very nice pair of pups to start my day.

Post Gradulate (3)

1. Kempton. Borderbrook Final Destiny . As before see note for Junior class.

2. Walker. Ravenskirk Pretty in Pink. 3 yo feminine bitch with expressive head, very feminine. A little lighter all through than 1, but really well made. Not as settled or tidy on the move as the youngster today.

3. Heggie. Wizaland Celtic Connection

Open (3)

1. Walker. Miraje Just Because at Ravenskirk. Lovely 6yo bitch of good breed type. Liked her correct head and with attractive expression. Good balance and proportions and leg length. Very sound on the move and a pleasure to watch. A close decision, but her maturity and finish just inched it on the day. BOB

2. Kempton. Borderbrook Lucky in Love. Smaller bitch of lovely type and balance. Many of the comments above apply here too. Good coat and body condition. Sound on the move.

3. Heggie. Locheil A Good Heart (Ir Jn Ch CJW23)

BEARDED COLLIE

Junior (3)

1. Handley. Strufingill Maverick at Barkenbear. Male of very nice balance and good length and super breed type. Well presented coat was of correct texture. Super in body proportions. Lovely on the move. BOB

2. Savage & McLean. Strufingill Penny Benjamin at Canaich. Litter sister to 1and shares many positive breed attributes. Very feminine girl, pretty in head, good body proportions, lovely coat. Good bone and feet. Again, really sound mover.

3. Ryan. Gallus Midas Touch into Razkal

Post Graduate (3,1)

1. Handley. Strufingill Maverick at Barkenbear. Notes as above.

2. Johnston. Corimist Glimmer of Rye. Thought this was my winner when she entered the ring. 2yo with lovely outline and super coat. Correct for bone and angulation. Moved well. However, she was lacking a little in confidence today and that cost her.

Open (2)

1. Savage. Talraz Comic Relief at Canaich. 8yo male of good type. Loved his overall balance and good bone. Sound and lovely mover.

2. Handley. Bargemon Bragadoon at Barkenbear. 4yo male. A little male swagger which caught the eye. Great coat texture and good proportions. Not as easy on the move as 1 and was flying his tail today.

SHETLAND SHEEPDOG

1. Smith. Orean Tiger Lily. 8mo sable puppy bitch of very nice balance and proportions. Liked her elegant head and good neck. Lovely puppy coat was well presented. Moved neatly. Apparently her first show today and she aced it!
