Ashton In Markerfield, Premier Open Show, Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd March 2025.
I was honoured and grateful for the invitation to judge a number of Pastoral breeds and the Pastoral group at this premier open show. It was a privilege to be part of such a wonderful show. I would like to extend my sincere thanks for the generous hospitality, and to my stewards Marta and Reagan a big thank you for the efficient working of the ring and group competition.
Bearded Collie
Puppy (1)
1st Edwards, Brakesea Its Time At Nellbrook. 10 month old female, Well balanced puppy, feminine head developing nicely, adequate length of neck and well placed shoulders, well boned and well-muscled for her age. Good length of rib, level backline with correct croup and tail set. Moved soundly in all directions. Presented in good coat. Awarded Best Puppy In Breed and Pastoral Puppy Group 3

1st Macdonald, Corimist All That Glitters. 21 months old female, Broad head yet feminine, well placed eyes and calming expression. good neck length, pleasing front that’s well developed. Good body length and well-muscled hindquarters. I would prefer a better turn of stifle. Smooth in movement. Best Of Breed

1st Surridge, Roydenbark Casablanca. 20 month old female, pleasing feminine head with well-placed eyes and shape. Quite alert with good expression, strong muscular neck, front developing as it should. Well boned and good feet. Ample rib cage and body length with good loin. Very free and easy movement which won her the class.
2nd Garside & Turner, Starside Tina Turner, 21 month old female, Good head and displaying a gentle and kind expression, good for bone, well placed shoulders and depth of chest. Good body profile. Sound in movement coming and going, though today preferred the overall movement in side profile of the winner

1st Buckley, Ankamel Half Blood Prince JW. 2 ½ year old male, masculine head with correct eye placement, good leg length with ample bone and correct feet. Correct body length and overall balanced angulation. Presented in good condition. Moved soundly and lightly from all directions
2nd Garside, Harbecca Noahs Gift, 7 year old female, Good expression, pleasing shoulder placement, strong in neck, adequate front with good depth of chest, strong in body with sloping croup and well set tail. Good flowing movement.

1st Longhurst, Simmovon Charm Writer At Spotarton JW, 19 month old male, Such a good example with a masculine head, correct eye placement and shape, good front with depth of chest, strong topline, well ribbed and strong rear angulation with well let down hocks. Movement is effortless, smooth and free in all directions. Shown in excellent coat and condition. Best of Breed and Pastoral Group 2
2nd Surridge, Tonkory Yasmine, 5 year old female, another good example, lovely feminine head displaying a wonderful and gentle expression, sufficient front well-muscled, overall lovely proportions and strong in topline, moved soundly in all directions, presented in good coat and condition.

Puppy (1)
1st Williams, Essenjay Ring Of Fire, 11 month old male, Stood alone but such a lovely put together puppy, correct masculine head, well placed almond shaped eyes, good alertness with correct ears. Well placed shoulders, good forechest and sufficient length of neck. Adequate body length with a well carried tail of good length. Moved really well. Best Puppy
Special Yearling (2, 1A)
1st Williams, Essenjay Heartbreaker, 13 month old female, A beautiful feminine head giving a wonderful expression, well placed eyes, ears well set. Good front with adequate forechest, strong neck for the age to a correct topline and croup with tailset well placed. Good rear angles and well defined. Sufficient mover coming and going. If I have any criticism I would prefer better feet. Still enough virtues today to be awarded Best of Breed.

1st Beardsworth, Maysinder Sapphires Reign, 3 year old female, blue merle bitch. Very feminine with a correct and overall balanced head and good muzzle length. Well placed dark eyes, ears well set giving a gentle expression. Good length of neck which was strong, good forechest with depth, well for body and strong rear angulation. Good movement.
2nd, Rose, Beldones Clementine Avec Coloratura, 3 year old female, Another very feminine exhibit with a pleasing expression, good front and rear angulations and a good length of leg. Stood well for overall body proportions and correct tail length. On movement today I preferred the coming and going of my winner. Presented in good coat.
Open (5, 1A)
1st Pullin, Barrenclough Diamond Dawn At Myjacks, 5 year old male, presented in such good coat. Good masculine head, well placed almond eyes, good use of ears and sufficient muzzle. Muscular neck of good length, ample forechest with good depth. Well defined ribs and held a good topline. Took time to settle on the move.
2nd Rose, Uffspring Ultravox For Coloratura, 6 year old female. Good feminine head with eyes well shaped and correct placed ears. Well-developed front with ample forechest and adequate depth. Strong topline and well-muscled rear angulation. Movement was good and shown in good coat.

1st Thomas & Lusty, Blamorder Side Hustle With Mournebrake, 9 month old male, well , well-proportioned head, ears well placed with good tip, good dark eye. Good neck with moderate arch. Ample front at this age with good length of leg, good topline and body length. Movement was good. Would just have preferred better coat condition today. Best Puppy and Best of Breed.

1st Blackwell-Price, Chalksville Spring Meadow, 11 month old female, Very unsure in this environment today, feminine head, good length of neck, well for bone at this young age. Level topline, well ribbed. It was hard to assess movement with her being so unsure but once she settled the movement was okay. Best Puppy.
Special Yearling (4, 1A)
1st Amis & Stanley, Droyales Present Verdandi, 13 month old male, upstanding sable with a good masculine head, well set dark eyes, erect ears well placed and used them at all times. Good lay of shoulder and well developed front, good leg length and well boned on good feet. Strong topline and strength in body. Well-muscled rear angulation, correct tailset and length. His movement was so well balanced in such a small ring for this breed, showing a good forward reach. Best of Breed.
2nd Folkman, Windgunns Phoenix, 14 month old female, showing an alert expression, adequate length of neck, good shoulder placement and depth of chest. Sufficient bone and length of leg. Topline was level, with good rear angulation. Again another exhibit that was ok and pleasing on the move and that was sound in profile.
Limit (5, 2A)
1st Ranshaw, Reyakosa Dakota, 2 ½ year old female, very feminine with alertness and good expression with dark eyes and dark mask. Good front with ample leg length and correct bone, strong topline ample body with pleasing rear angulation and croup. Movement was good in both directions and showing plenty of drive in profile.
2nd Finnigan, Reyakosa, Diablo, 2 ½ year old male, Good masculine head, dark eyes, Good developed front that was well muscled, hard in topline and strong rear angulation. His movement was okay in profile but was untidy going away compared against my winner today. Presented in good coat.
Open (3, 1A)
1st Finnigan, Reyakosa Brando, 7 year old male, didn’t show his age, strong masculine head, alert expression, strong in neck with muscled front, depth of chest and correct shoulder placement. Strong topline and well-muscled hindquarters, straight hocks, correct tailset. He displayed pleasing movement in all directions with a good driving action.
2nd Ranshaw, Reyakosa Calia, 5 ½ year old female, A strong exhibit but still retains femininity, good expression with well-placed ears used at all times. Well-muscled in front and rear angulations, good strong topline, movement was okay and balanced. If I have anything negative it would be to have more bone.

1st Johnson & Jacobs, Willowthorns Roulette, 11 month old female, pretty feminine head showing excellent proportions with almond shaped eyes, correct placed ears. Good arch of neck into correct shoulder placement. Well defined front with sufficient muscle at this age. Good spring of ribs, level backline and rear angulation also with sufficient muscle. She displayed wonderful movement and in profile it give such a fine and smooth action. Best Puppy In Breed.
2nd Botham, Balidorn Olympic Star, 6 month old male, only young but a lot to like with a pleasing head, well placed ears used correctly, eyes well set giving a good expression. Pleasing front with ample bone and good feet. Body developing as expected, sloping croup, good rear angulation. Correct tail and moved well.

1st Savage, Shellamoyed Midnight Max At Savataurus, 2 ½ year old male, with a wonderful head and expression, well placed ears used well and well placed almond shaped eyes. Good front and straight onto good feet with sufficient bone. Strong in topline, correct croup and moderate rear angulation. He retained his shape on the move which was balanced and sound in profile.

1st Rosslyn, Balidorn Golden Amber, 5 ½ year old female, a very impressive exhibit with such a feminine head and wonderful expression, ears well placed and alert at all times. So well balanced right through, good front well-muscled, straight legs and good feet. Strong topline and well defined rear angulation, her movement was a clear winner for her today which was excellent and elegant in all directions especially in profile. Best of Breed.
2nd Savage, Willowthorn Kobalt Star By Savataurus JW, JCH, VW, VET Ch, 8 year old male, good blunt wedged head, sufficient reach of neck. Level topline, short coupled, with good front and rear angulation. Would have preferred better coat condition, moved out really well.

1st Harris, Whiteshire Amazing Arya, White Swiss Shepherd Dog, 11 month old female. Good sized head, with medium well placed eyes. Long neck and well-muscled at this young age. Well placed shoulders, good bone and standing on tight feet. Level topline, well of for body and good rear angulation with turn of stifle. Moved really well, with good extension.

1st Clancy, Hit Me Od Bijelih Andela Of Whiteshire, White Swiss Shepherd Dog, 2 ½ year old male, Good size male, strong masculine head, good alert expression with ears set high. Good length of muzzle and relatively flat skull. Well developed front, depth of chest and well for bone. Strong well-muscled neck, strong level topline. Well angulated rear, strong hocks. Movement was easy but so full of purpose with good drive and extension. Best Import Breed.
2nd Brown, Faith Follow Your Dream Lord Of The North With Tamalden, White Swiss Shepherd Dog, 4 year old female, An impressive exhibit in stance, wonderful head and expression, strong in neck and well developed front and rear angulation, good level topline. Another that moved very well and looked good in profile. I would have preferred more coat and furnishings though this is coming back in.

1st Roberts, Ch Magical Love Elvikam JW, OSW, VW (Imp Pol), Australian Shepherd, 7 year old female, presented in wonderful coat and condition. Feminine head with such a good expression, eyes well placed and correct set ears. Muscular neck, good depth of chest, ample bone and good tight feet. Overall good body proportions, level topline. Movement was effortless with a good reach and excellent in profile which won her the class today and pleased to see she went on to Reserve Best Veteran In Show.

1st Fawcett, Starjanda Mr Bright Sky, OES, 22 months old male, Well deserved G1 who never stopped showing. Presented in wonderful coat and condition. Superb head and well placed dark eyes. Good scissor bite and strong in jaw. Good front, strong for bone and stood on straight legs. Compact body with adequate spring of ribs to well-developed hindquarters. His win today came from his movement which gave plenty of drive and effortless action.
2nd Longhurst, Simmovon Charm Writer At Spotarton JW, See Border Collie Open
3rd Tarasinska, Charlotte Wolf In Sheeps Skin, Samoyed, 5 ½ year old female, another exhibit presented in wonderful coat and condition. Pleasing head and wonderfully balanced throughout with pleasing furnishings. Moved really well and well handled.
4th Irving, Twinam Swing On A Star, Pembroke Corgi, 10 month old male. Well presented and overall very well balanced youngster. Excellent head, great expression, good for bone, moved really well, shown with plenty of attitude.

2nd Langford & Nicholas, Guardalavaca Daiquiri, Australian Cattle Dog, 7 month old male, Pleasing head with good width and correct ear placement, stood well in front, ample bone, gave a good outline in profile and moved with ease for one so young.

4th Bee, Rosskaja Ginjo Pearl For Snowbiscuit, Samoyed, 10 month old female. A little unsettled at first but so much to like. Such a good head with a gentle expression, very well balanced on the move and presented in wonderful coat.
