1ST Dobson and Wolfe’s Souvenir of Sitkas Une Star Est Nee via Dreamwolves (Imp Lux) Naf Taf

18mth Grey/White Bitch that was a little unsettled on the day but got it together enough to move well around the ring, nice powerful head, just let down by too steep a stop, good broadness between ears, small triangular well set ears. Strong, nicely arched neck, would prefer a more overall muscling, hopefully will come with maturity, nice topline. BoB

1st Cook’s Boese Jiggerlotti

21mth Dark brindle bitch, a very nice, quality youngster just stood out to me. Outstanding head, set off by such a sweet expression, nice shaped and sized ears and overall, the head just fitted everything the Breed Standard imparts to me. Strong neck, with good return of shoulder, strong front legs with short pasterns. Deep chested, with well arched ribs, giving plenty of room for the front to work. Back slopes correctly into powerhouse rear assembly, good long upper and lower thigh, rear feet maybe just a little smaller than front, the only thing I could mark her down was on every stand she would not quite get her rear left leg set in line, but did nothing to affect her movement, covering the ground easy, with a lovely rolling gait. 6 Y/o Fawn Bitch, another nice girl very nice head, into strong neck. Good chest and straight back, unfortunately not slightly sloping, good legs front and rear. Feet were just a bit too large, good movement. RBoB

I must comment that all 3 entries in this class were outstanding dogs, all 3 could have won the class and will definitely be swapping places as time goes by, I felt it was such a good class I actually took a picture of the 3 lined up together, the only thing that stood out to me as a negative, was that they were all set up with 10 to 2 fronts, but would free stand much better.

1st Lovelidge’s Leebee’s Vienna Avec Shayllarr

18mth Bitch of very feminine but powerful outlook, nice broad head, with correct proportioned muzzle and nice high and wide set ears. Good strong front end and broad, deep chest, straight back into slightly sloping croup, length just over square. Strong well-muscled rear, with good stifle turn, all set on strong feet all round, moved around the ring with ease, won the class on her overall package. RBoB

2nd Smith’s Jaegerot Mr Marvellouse

19mth Dog that oozed masculinity, everything 1st was feminine this guy shouted “I am Dog” good strong head and neck, nice straight legs, well sprung ribs and straight back, well-muscled rear, feet just a little big, again good movement around the ring and coming and going.

3rd Piggott and Gibbard’s Jazeve Love Junkie

1st Musk and Bingham’s Jazeve Jam Master Jay

Very nice 21mth Dog, litter brother to 3rd in Yearling, strong head and round neck, nice front assembly strong, straight front legs, well-sprung broad ribs, nice straight topline, muscular rear, with nice turn of stifle, feet all round nicely compact with correct ratio between front and back. Moved well, I felt this boy was the best out of the 3 I judged from the same litter.

1st Vanson’s Pasko Du Temple D’Adranos Von Tiesto (Imp FRA) ShCEx

5 Y/o D that won this class on his effortless movement, looked like he could keep going all day and the look on his face said he was enjoying himself. Really liked his head proportions, strong muscular neck, good lay-back of shoulder, front legs straight and strong, holding up quality broad chest, straight backed into sloping croup, stifles not overdone, good feet throughout, but rear not a stand out as his front, great muscle throughout, and you can see why his movement is so good. BoB

2nd Watts and Gibbard’s Jazeve Hot Tottie

21mth Bitch, another from the same little as 1st PG and 3rd Yearling, giving a lot away to 1st. Best head and neck from the litter siblings, but front legs just lost their look with front pasterns being a little loose and overly sloping. Good roomy chest, but topline just dipping on stand and stood a little straight in rear, put in a good show on the move.

A nice entry today for my 1st judging appointment and I thank all exhibitors that entered under me, it was good to put into practice all of the teaching that I got from The Beagle Club BAD. Just some general points, no exaggeration in any dog, but just wanted to point out a couple of issues I saw, please keep a check on your dog’s teeth, some older dogs show significant amounts of plaque, which was immediately evident when checking mouths, but overall, those present were lovely examples of the breed.

1st Hunt’s Bondlea Cherished

11mth bitch, just 1 day short of her 1st birthday and won class on maturity and ready to step up and take on the older dogs. Nice domed head, with stop dividing proportions correctly. Well positioned, long round ears. Nice length of neck and good layback of shoulder. Level topline, and good extension of ribs, just gave an overall long appearance, still hopefully to add rear muscle tone with age, moved out nicely and won the class on that and maturity. BP

2nd Rushforth’s Campionfield Scrumptious

6mth bitch, with lots to like. Overall, a muscular, compact little lady in complete proportion. Head nicely domed, good proportions for stop location, would just like a little more defined. Nice size ears with rounded tips. Good arch of neck with sufficient length, well laid shoulders, nice round boned legs front and back. Level topline, with well sprung ribs and good overall balance. Nice firm hocks would just like a little more turn of stifle, good tight feet with good knuckle. Just couldn’t match 1st on maturity, but I would love to see how she comes on.

26. Beagle - Yearling

Entries: 3 Absentees: 2

1st Firth’s Nictoney Athena

17mth bitch, good size head with good stop proportions. Strong, slightly arched neck of adequate length, with well laid shoulders, straight front legs, good spring of ribs, extending well back, just a little long in couplings, with shorter leg and length of coupling, give the appearance of a little too much length, but held top line level at all times. Probably best turn of stifle from all entries today, well-muscled thighs and firm hocks. Moved well. RBoB

1st Firth’s Nictoney Gingerbread

3 Y/o bitch, with a very appealing expression, domed head, nicely shaped ears, well placed. Good front angulation well sprung ribs with good extension, level topline into good muscular thighs, good bend of stifle and firm hocks. Feet well knuckled, but just thought front were a little loose, but this can sometimes be down to the surface at this venue, best mover in the breed. BoB

2nd Dufosee Iyla at Bondlea JW

4 Y/o bitch, with the typical beagle appealing stare, nice domed head, with correct proportions and well defined stop. Good length ears, well rounded. Good length of neck, just as a good an arch as 1, good shoulder placement and plenty of substance of front legs. Well sprung and extended ribs into well-muscled rear thighs, just not quite holding a level topline. Adequate turn of stifle and strong hocks. Moved well.

Another breed I judged for the 1st time today and interestingly all entries over the classes were puppies just turned 6 months, making my job that much harder and decisions were all tough to make as all showed promising qualities, but all were very raw

150. Rhodesian Ridgeback- Puppy

A class with 3 lovely pups

1st Cyprien, White & White’s Jocerik Ellinor Angan

6mth bitch, lighter colour, Flat broad skull, and nice muzzle length, dark round eyes, well set ears of good shape. Good length of neck into nice sloping shoulders, ribs giving plenty of room to move out with moderate spring, strong backed into slight arch over the loins. Still to fully muscle up, but showing enough on rear, nice turn of stifle and well let down hocks, nice compact feet, saw enough in the movement to win the class. BOB and BP

2nd Ellis’s Bikquest Helios Sunreacher

6mth Dog of darker colour, I though the head was a slightly better shape than 1, flatter skull with higher set ears. Neck of nice length, with good strength, good shoulder placement into strong forelegs, ribs not as developed as 1, but still well-sprung, powerful back into good rise over loins. Again, will muscle up with age, but rear starting to come along, just very unsettled on the move, but saw enough to place in front of 3

This boy, all though the same litter as 2nd and 3rd in puppy was just so much more together. Flat skull and nice head shape, good length of neck, but handler needs to try and keep the head down more, as skin tends to roll up if held too high and wrinkles at the withers. Stronger front end of all the 3 litter mates, with deeper chest, another powerful back with good rise over loins and better muscling on rear, best mover of the litter. RBoB
