Wickford Basildon & District Canine Society

Breed: Border & Jack Russell Terriers

Thank you for inviting me to judge this beautiful outdoor show, and for my very efficient steward Natasha for keeping everything in order. Although my entry was small, the quality of dogs made up for it.

Border Terriers

Puppy (1,0a)

1st Skelton’s Ragatam Huckleberry

Grizzle 7mth dog, moderate width of head, well filled muzzle, and keen dark eye. Straight front, although a little wide, fairly long narrow body, correct tail set, and is just spannable. He has a pleasing coat texture and thick pliable pelt. Moved at a steady pace. Would benefit carrying a little less weight. BP

Junior (1,0a)

1st Mooney’s Chesterton Vancouver

Grizzle and tan with tidy double jacket. Typical head with neat well placed ears, moderate length of neck running cleanly into well laid back shoulders, straight front, good body length, spannable. Racy hindquarters, with a good bend of stifle and hocks well let down. Moved well.

Limit (7,5a)

1st Mooney’s Chesterton Viva Las Vagas

Correct otter head, with enough width to his muzzle, pleasing V-shaped ears, with dark hazel eyes, giving intelligent expression. Front straight, ribs well sprung, body long and narrow with a supple topline and strong loin. Thick pelt and coat of correct texture and excellent condition. Creates a beautiful profile on the move. BOB

2nd Skelton’s Blue Rebel Sunset

A little wide in front, this bitch needs to carry less weight. She has a lovely feminine expression with a short well filled muzzle and good width of head, with slight stop. Correct body proportions and tail set. Moved well. Blue & tan coat in good condition.

Open (5,3aa)

1st Wilks’s Arunmere One in a Million

Smart young dog with lovely head, correct proportions, moderate width, flat skull, short well filled muzzle and small v shaped ears. Front ok with tight pasterns, would prefer a bit more return of upper arm. Ribs well sprung, strong muscular loin, racy hindquarters, correct rear angulation and a good tail set. Presented in a smart tight jacket. Moved well. RBOB

2nd Mooney’s Chesterton Merlot

Another smart dog presented in tight double coat and thick pliable pelt. Pleasing head with correct expression, well filled muzzle, dark hazel eyes moderate in size. He has a lovely straight front with enough width of chest. Good body length, hocks well let down but would prefer and him to be a bit closer behind.

Junior (2,1a)

1st Webb & Rowe’s Kenleap Holly Brook

What a happy little dog, with good head proportions, pleasing dark small almond eye and neat v shaped ears set on a flat skull of medium width. Ribs are well sprung and she is spannable. She is a little long in body and needs to put on a bit of weight.RBOB

Open (1,0a)

1st Jones’s Kaszavolgyi-Furge Milton Laserna

Good body proportions with correct length to height ratios, has matured a lot since I last judged him. He has a relatively small eye with neat well placed v shaped ears, on a flat skull of good width. Moderate length of neck, oval ribcage with well sprung rib, good bend of stifle, clean straight front, presented in a super white coat with tan markings. BOB
