Terrier Club Of Devon And Cornwall

The Terrier Club of Devon & Cornwall Premier Open Show 19.10.25 Staffordshire Bull Terriers Judge: Natasha Walker (Teshleystaf) First and foremost, I want to thank the committee for the invitation to judge at the show and their wonderful hospitality on the day. Secondly, a thank you to my stewards Lewis and Carrie. And finally, a thank you to all who entered, and those who exhibited. It is greatly appreciated and was wonderful to see the breed do so well in the groups. Puppy (2,1) 1. Miss G Corti’s BICKINSTAR ICE GLOW An absolutely stunning 10-month-old bitch. Predominately red with white fore chest, socks and diamond on her head & a diamond she is! Full of energy, or shall I say has a wonderful love of life. I could have very easily brought her home. Her head strong yet feminine with neat ears. Her eyes dark and round, and her muzzle clean as a whistle with a correct scissor bite & correct underjaw. She has good bone, width & fore chest to her front. Her feet neat, and well padded. Rib is sprung well enough for her age, and close coupled, loin light and her rear having good angulation, with a well bent stifle, and let down hocks. She is well-muscled for a pup, but I imagine her love of life makes this quite a natural occurrence. She moved eagerly, a tad unsettled at first, but once her handler got her going, it was with drive and power, and well for a puppy holding her topline. I awarded her Best Bitch and Best Puppy in Breed. It was lovely to see her go Terrier Puppy Group 3, Congratulations!! Junior (0,0) Limit (5,2) 1. Mrs D Oram & Miss Z Smith’s KARMARISTAFFS ROYAL RUMBLE FOR KALANIBULL A Handsome 3-year-old black brindle dog, top size but balanced. This lovely chap, could not keep his eyes off me, demanding my attention at all times, these being big round eyes too. A good round head housed by neat ears, wonderful expression which I believe he shares with his sire, the reserve best of breed. His cheeks well pronounced and a clean muzzle with correct bite. His head led on to a neck of good width, and length. He has enough bone for his size, with correct fore chest and depth of brisket. Legs straight on well-padded feet. His body showed enough rib, and close coupling. He has a well-muscled thigh, which adds to his overall picture. His rear angulation sufficient, and aiding his overall picture. He is in good condition, but just could not match the fitness of those with top honours on the day. He moved well with his handler with enough drive. 2. Miss G Corti’s BICKINSTAR BELLOSA 4-year-old red standard sized bitch, in all honesty she was unfortunate to meet 1. Pretty girl, with a more feminine head than one, ears neat enough but with the darkest, round eyes. She had enough stop for her head, yet remaining very feminine. Underjaw good, her teeth showed a correct bite. She has well placed shoulders, and a straight front with neat feet. She has well sprung ribs, a good tuck up. Her thighs were defined, and of good size. Her rear well angulated with good bend of stifle. She moved well with drive from the rear, which put her as a good contender for 1st, but If I was being picky, I would like her in a fitter condition to just finish her off. 3. Miss Edgson’s HICOOKWORTHY BARBER PEST Open Dog (5,1) 1. Mr N Davies’ HASBURYSTAFF TOP GUN 2-year-old dog, who when stood in the class, captured my eye immediately. Handsome fella, who is strong and flashy with his broad white chest and neat, padded white feet. He pretty much shows himself, like he is a seasoned professional. He has an impressive head piece, which is strong, not overdone, but you wouldn’t want any more of anything. Broad skull, neat & tidy ears, muscled cheeks, and good underjaw. Bite correct with large teeth. Wide neck of good strength for size, well laid shoulders, front straight and well boned. His topline level on the stack and move. Well sprung ribs, and a well angulated rear with meaty thighs, well bent stifles and let down hocks. Very balanced dog, from every angle I looked nothing looked too much or out of place. His strength for size is spot on. He moved well enough in unison with his handler. He was in superb condition. He was pushed hard by the veteran, but I couldn’t not give him best of breed. It was wonderful to see him go Best in Show as well, Congratulations!! 2. Mr R Mayers’ MAYNESTAFF SMOOTH CRIMINAL JW 4-year-old strong Black brindle dog. I have judged him previously and was lovely to see him in the same good condition two years later. His head is of correct proportion and correct stop, he has dark round eyes, neat ears and a clean muzzle. He shows a correct scissor bite. His neck broad. His front is wide set, with a good depth of brisket, good fore chest and a well sprung rib. Slightly Longer cast, but I maintain this is vital for his balance. His rear was well enough angulated, with well let down hocks. He moved well, and effortlessly with a level topline throughout. Missed out on winning the class, as I preferred the overall balance of 1st, but brought him in to challenge as I wanted to see how he compared to veteran. 3. Mrs H, Miss N, Mr J Badman, Sprague & Piggott’s SKYESTAFF THE DESTROYER Open Bitch (4,2) 1. Mr R Mayers’ MAYNESTAFF THE GIRL IS MINE JW Black brindle 4-year-old bitch, very compact and standard. Pretty expression. Strong feminine bitch, with an equally strong head, which has dark round eyes, neat ears and a correct scissor bite, with good underjaw. Her front is straight, good with to front and depth of brisket and she does not lack for bone, her feet neat. One thing I would comment is this girl has the spring of rib that many should aim for. On this occasion I would say working on her condition would improve her overall look. Her rear showed good angulation with well down hocks, and good bend of stifle. She moved well and parallel for her handler. Her bone and rib secured her this class. 2. Miss G Corti’s ASSILIO STAR TURN 6-year-old red bitch, prettiest of girls, with large round black eyes. Her head neat, ears tidy, and muzzle clean as a whistle. Her front straight with enough width. Her body is compact; she is close coupled and has a lovely angulated rear with well let down hocks and correct bent of stifle. I again, think conditioning would just finish off her picture. She stood on neat well-padded feet which drove her round the matt well, and parallel. Was just beaten to first, as I was splitting hairs and 1 had that but more bone and spring of rib. Veteran (3,2) 1. Mr A J & Mrs D L Desmond’s’ CH ELITEBULL’S CHALLENGER JW 8-year-old, Black Brindle Dog, with a sprinkle of white on his chest and paws. Slowly becoming a distinguished gentleman, but still very much a good dog. His asset is his lovely round head, with correct stop and neat ears finishing it off. He has an enticing expression, with big dark round eyes, another one who doesn’t want to take his eyes off you. He is clean in muzzle with correct scissor bite, and good teeth for his age. Looking at all angles, he was balanced. He has well laid shoulders, straight legs which led down to the neatest of feet. His body is in lovely condition, with good depth of brisket, and sufficient rib for his size, he is close coupled, and has strong muscled thigh, and a well angulated rear. He moved with economy of effort for his handler. He just lost out on Best of Breed, as his age has started to show slightly, however he pushed hard and it as a pleasure to award him Reserve Best of Breed, Best Veteran in Breed and was delighted to see him go Reserve Best Veteran in Show, Congratulations!!
