I would like to thank the society for their kind invitation to judge at their show and my steward Lesley McCourt who kept the ring running smoothly throughout the day.

Part Gundogs and Gundog Group

AVNSC P 1 Jennings - Alibama Dot to Dot. A beautifully presented American Cocker with lovely head and expression. Nicely put together with deep ribs and well sprung. Moved with drive and demanded your attention BP. 2 Norbury & Adkins Fry’s Bedeslea Pradasphere - Lagotto – Soundly made with correct angles fore and aft. Appealing head and correct dentition. In good coat and condition. I didn’t feel she was a positive on the move as 1 today. 3 Clarks - BJ Bee Black Ivy (Imp Pol). J 1 Cooper’s Deifstock Dare to Dream JW – HWV – 16 mths old with a typical outline she has a decent head, her eyes need to darken but there is time for this. Strong front construction with prominent sternum well-muscled with good bone and tight feet she moved well. RBOB L 1 Jennings Alimaba Quintessential Stunning American Cocker of 22 months. Well-developed and rounded head with deep square muzzle. Beautifully put together with strong loin and correct topline. In full coat and great condition. He moved round the ring like he owned it showing effortless ground covering movement. Best AVNSC, Grp 1 and later BIS.

AV Gundog Veteran

It was heartening to see such a well filled class of veterans in such lovely condition, a real credit to their owners.

1 Norbury and Adams Pointer Medogold Bamalam at Heartbury OSW JW Sh CM Sh CEx Such a lovely outline when stacked, presenting the required series of graceful curves. Beautifully constructed all through and in fine condition, she was so sound on the move and was handled to advantage to win this well filled class. 2 Phipps- Baker & Baker’s Golden Retriever A lovely balanced example with appealing head, dark eye and good pigment. Correctly made and in good coat and muscular condition. Moved soundly on short hocks. 3 Hutson’s Cocker Span Stobytill Hippy Hippy Shake JW.

Hungarian Vizsla

P Gammon’s Martgarian Zantara Very pretty 8 month old bitch who is typical in head and has correct eye colour. Strong neck into well-made front with good fore-chest and depth of body for her age. She has sufficient bone and moved OK although she was distracted by the horsey smells. BP. J Gammon’s Glenbrows Opera D’Arte 8 mth old bitch puppy who is well put together all through. Feminine head with intelligent expression and kind eye. Prominent sternum and nice bone she moved out well on tight feet. RBOB L 1 Joyce’s Zuzu’s Petal by Ranchstar A 3 year old bitch who was giving her handler a hard time. Lean head with eyes of the correct shape and colour. Decently put together but lacking balance, I would prefer more positive movement. O 1 Porter- Manning & Porters Roughshoot Quintessential among Wallaroo JW 3 year old Noble headed bitch with eyes of the correct shape and colour. Muscular neck into well-made front, balanced with correct depth of body and strong loin. Good turn of stifle and elegant ground covering movement. BOB.

Retriever (Labrador)

P 1. Burroughs Annakay Sister Act 8 month old very naughty but beautiful and very typey bitch. Appealing head, strong neck into well-made front, well sprung barrel ribs, short loin and well-let down hocks. 2 Shakeshaft’s Sandhaven Caribbean Queen another very pretty 8 month old bitch puppy. Feminine head with dark eye and kind expression. Strong neck into well placed shoulders, correct topline and coat. Sound on the move and handled beautifully she lacked the maturity of 1 but has plenty of time. L 1 Burroughs Annakay Colour Sargent 19 month old chocolate. There is no mistaking this boy is all dog. Balanced and very well put together with barrel ribs and correct coat. His otter tail never stopped wagging. BOB.

Retriever (Golden)

I was really pleased with the quality in this entry there were some hairsplitting decisions to be made.

MP Taylor & Tenn’s Strettonhills Hoity Toity 6 mth old bitch. Beautiful head with dark eye and kind expression. Muscular neck into well-made front. Balanced with strong loin and correct topline. Well let down hocks and nice length of tail moved very well for her age and was sympathetically handled. 2 List’s Haydengold Latest Gossip 6 mth old bitch with pretty head dark eye and good pigment, who is well put together all through. She has lovely tight feet and quality bone I preferred the head of 1 and her more positive movement. 3 Kinchella’s Wynrita Call Me Elder Prince for Honeymill. JP 1 Taylor & Tenn’s Strettonhills Hoity Toity. 2 List’s Haydengold Latest Gossip. 3 Taylor & Tenn’s Strettonhills Happy Hour. J 1 Holmes Asbyglen Excalibur. 16 mth old dog with great ring presence he really fills your eye. Masculine head without any coarseness, dark eye with kind expression and lovely pigment. Muscular neck into well laid shoulder with corresponding return of upper arm. Correct depth of body and topline held on the move. Short loin, nice turn of stifle and short hocks. In full coat and fine fettle, his movement was straight and true with good drive. (BOB & Grp 3) 2 Riley’s Wylloh Paddington Bear. A 14 mth old dog who I did well as a puppy. Soundly made all through, short coupled and with a tail of the correct length. He moved out with drive, was in his best jacket and has quality bone and tight catlike feet. I preferred the head of one today. 3. Cornwell’s Palharvest Chaga. SY 1 Riley’s Jasrolyn Doe Ray Me Among Wylloh JW. 23 mth old bitch with pretty head, dark eye and kind expression. She is soundly constructed, balanced and of the correct size. Has good depth of body, a strong loin, good turn of stifle and short hocks. Moved with drive. 2. Seamon’s Messano Snap Crackle & Pop 20 mth old quality bitch. She has a very clean outline stacked and many similar qualities to the winner who I felt had the edge on front construction and moved in a more positive manner today.3. List’s HaydenGold Moment in Time JW. L 1 Phipps-Baker & Baker Maddouse Must Be Trouble bitch of almost 3 with feminine head, dark eyes soft expression and correctly set neat ears. Strong neck into well-made front, level topline and short nicely carried tail. She has quality bone, tight feet and short hocks. Very animated on the move with good drive. 2 Taggart Altindan User Friendly JW SGWC. Bitch of 27 mths with appealing head intelligent dark eyes and kind expression. Good length of neck into well-made front, she has correct depth of body and her rear angles match the front. I preferred the balance of 1 but she was in fine fettle and condition. 3 Hush’s Ousevale Ocean Breeze at Benrowan. O 1 Fleet & Webb’s Waterbabies Sonic Boom to Eastbury & Hectson (Imp Ita). An upstanding dog with handsome head dark eye and correctly set neat ears. Strong neck into well-made body with level topline and strong loin. Moved out with good drive slightly proud of his tail today but with quality bone and catlike feet. (RBOB) 2 Phipps-Baker & Baker’s Maddouse Tail Spinner SGWC. See 2nd in Veteran.

Retriever (Curly Coated)

P 1 Clack, Clack, Battle-Hunter & Eddery. Krisbos Leonidas with Molokan (IKC) 11 month old dog with wedge-shaped head. Strong neck and beautifully made with good depth of body for his age and short strong loin. In good coat and condition he moved well for his age once settled. Unfortunately not so well later in the puppy Grp.(BP)

O 1 Clack, Eddery & Clack Sh Ch Molokain Hocus Pocus. Krisbos Leonidas with Molokan (IKC) 22 month old bitch with appealing head. Strong neck of medium length into well-made front. Good depth of body, level topline and strong deep loin. She moved with drive and was in good coat and condition. (BP)

AV Import Register Gundog

J, L & O – 1. Bunn’s Corve Defiance (Barbet) 17 mth old dog with handsome head and correct bite. Soundly constructed all through, with square outline and medium sized. His coat was rustic and he was sound moving. Well handled. (Best Import)

Gundog Group

1 Jennings’ – Alibama Quintessential – American Cocker 2 Hodgkinson- Rutherford & Rutherford’s Rainethyme Rerite the Rules for Chanderhill (Spanish Water Dog). I was pleased to get my hands on this young dog who I have admired ringside. He has a very typical head with well set ears, short muscular neck into well laid shoulders. Balanced with level topline and good angles fore & aft. He has real ring presence and moves with powerful drive. 3 Holmes Ashbyglen Excalibur (Golden Ret) 4 Stevenson’s Sh Ch Mymmsbrook Matador with Blythway JW ShCEx OSW (WSS)n. This 4 year old dog is really in his prime, very typical in head with kind eye and expression. Good length of neck and pleasing angles fore and aft. He powered round the ring well handled.

Hodgkinson- Rutherford & Rutherford’s Rainethyme Rerite the Rules for Chanderhill (Spanish Water Dog) 2 Ashley-Turner’s Riverbrue The Joker (Irish Setter) This boy has really come on since I last judged him. He scores in head and is so well made and balanced. He has lovely bone and quality coat and was sound and positive on the move. 3 Phipps-Baker & Baker’s Maddouse Diamonds are for Ever (FCR) 10 mth old bitch with pleasing head and good reach of neck. Soundly put together and moving with drive on the move. 4 Taylor & Tenn’s Strettonhills Hoity Toity (Golden).

AV Utility

P 1 Gillman’s Mytilene Hot Shot (Lhasa Apso) 7 month old dog with handsome head and strong neck. Pleasing angles fore and aft and strong topline. Beautifully presented he moved freely. 2 Swaska’s Mapimakastar Lady Sat Al (Shih Tzu) Well put together 7 mth old bitch who was in good coat and condition. Moved out well with great ring presence. 3 Rose’s Mystyle Keane (Bulldog).

J 1 Stubbin’s Perdita’s Bean a Stormy Ride (Dalmatian) 14 mth old bitch with nicely proportioned head. Good reach of neck and soundly put together all through. She moved out well and has good ring presence. 2 Saich’s Lindycoly Trust in Me (German Spitz) 13 mth old bitch with pleasing angles fore and aft. Happy and shown in good coat and condition. Sound on the move. 3. Alexander & Collier’s Offordale Jazz (Dalmatian).

L 1 Thomas’s Kelmorespitz Dark N’Smokin (TT) 3 yr old bitch with good head and is soundly constructed. She was in good condition stood four square and moved well.
