Thanks to the club for the kind invitation to judge the Golden Retrievers at their well organised, friendly show and to my stewards Fiona and Betty who keep the ring running very efficiently. I was extremely grateful to all the exhibitors for taking the time and effort to prepare and bring their dogs under me.

GOLDEN RETRIEVERS

PD (3) 1 Thomson’s Warrentor Yairi at Corsemaul; 7 mths old with pleasing head, dark eye, kind expression and neat well-set ears. Nicely made all through and balanced, with strong loin and nice turn of stifle. He moved OK. 2 Vane’s Bluebraes Dragonfly Amber; Also 7 mths old but bigger than 1 with masculine head, dark eye and intelligent expression. Muscular neck of good length and well bodied, in good coat and condition. 3 Sloan & Hunter’s Palmonas Call My Bluff

GD (6,1a) 1 Officer’s Rigerin High Hopes; Just 12 Mths with masculine head without any coarseness. Dark eyes and kind expression. Well pigmented and soundly put together with strong loin, sufficient bone, tight feet short wagging tail and straight and true on the move. Certainly one to watch. 2 Wright’s Palton Platino; 2 yr old dog who is a nice size. Well proportioned masculine head with kind expression. Good length of neck into strongly constructed front. Level topline and moderate rear angles. Moved well. 3 McDonald’s Lamancha Time Traveller.

LD (5,1) 1 Middlemiss & Brown’s Harmarhoy You’re My Love JW; 20 mths old with masculine head and melting brown eyes, neat well-set ears. Good length of neck into strongly made front, level topline and square loin. Nice turn of stifle, short hocks, quality bone and short tail. Moved well. 2 Wight’s Palton Pavarotti; 8 year old dark dog with well proportioned strong head. Well put together with level topline strong loin and quality bone. Moved OK on tight feet. 3 Wallis’ Lamancha Roll On Good Times.

OD (4,1) 1 McShane’s Rigerin Gonnae No Dae That; 8 year old who scores for size with masculine head with dark eye and kind expression. Strong front construction and good depth of chest. Level topline and short tail. Moved well. 2 McDonald’s Lamancha Take A Chance JW; 3 year old larger dog with masculine head dark eye and kind expression. Soundly put together and free moving I preferred the size of 1. 3 Holmes & Higgins’ Kellywillow Augustus.

PB (6,1) 1 Foster’s Auristela Singing Hinnie JW; 11 month old beautifully balanced bitch who has a pretty correctly proportioned head with lovely well set neat ears. Nicely pigmented with a strong neck into well-made front with ample fore chest. Soundly made all through with level topline and quality bone. In fine coat and condition she moved round with drive on tight feet. Delighted to award her BP. 2 King’s Cleddans Chasing The Dream; 10 mths old and not quite as together as 1 at the moment. She has a feminine head with appealing dark eyes and nicely set ears. Good length of neck into well-made front with level topline, ample bone and good turn of stifle. Her didn’t stop wagging and she moved well. Sympathetically handled. 3 Campbell’s Milliemags She’s A Rainbow.

GB (8,4) 1 Robbins & Rowark’s Brekswood Honey Bee JW; Balanced 18 month old bitch of a lovely size. Correctly proportioned pretty head with dark eyes and good pigment. Muscular neck into well made front with required depth. Level topline, strong loin and well bent stifles she moved soundly on catlike feet. Beautifully presented and handled to advantage certainly one to watch. 2 Martin’s Garline Guarding Lola; 2 year old bitch who is a nice size. Appealing feminine head with dark eyes and decent length of neck into well made front with good depth. Strong loin and with well bent stifles she moved OK. 3 Waddell’s Sandaula Angel Of Mine at Seancaer (AI).

LB (6,3) 1 Maiddson’s Jaymardy Sweet Caroline JW; 3 year old who is balanced with a feminine head lovely dark eye and kind expression. Muscular neck into well-constructed front assembly. Level topline stacked and on the move, she has sufficient bone and well let down hocks. Carrying a little excess weight today which affected her movement. 2 Neil’s Moloko Am I Bovvered; 6 year old well put together bitch with correctly proportioned head. Muscular neck of good length, level topline, strong loin, well bent stifles and well set short tail. I would prefer slightly more length of leg. 3 Waddell’s New Year’s Eve Date Loyal Gold at Seancaer.

OB (4,1) 1 Robbins & Rowark’s Brekswood Lady Eleanor; Beautiful balanced 5 year old with pretty head dark eye and kind expression, muscular neck into soundly constructed front with fore-chest and correct depth. In good coat and condition with level topline, square loin and quality bone she moved straight and true using her well-set short tail. BOB & later BIS 3. 2 Neil’s Gaytonwood Martha; Quality 5 year old who is typical in head with long muscular neck and beautifully put together with level topline, strong loin and well bent stifles. I preferred the balance of 1 but she moved with drive and was well handled. RBOB. 3 Campbell’s Linirgor Cuddle In.
