Open Show – 18th May 2025

Judge: Michael Masters

It was an honour to be invited to judge at this show to include the finale of Best in Show. The Officers and Committee have to be commended on the last minute changes to the show set up due to some flash flooding which affected the planned indoor accommodation. Fortunately the weather was kind to us, albeit somewhat warm and the show went off with a swing. My thanks to my steward Bill for keeping the show on the road and special thanks to the exhibitors for a quality entry. I was spoilt for choice for the top honours, thank you to the Group judges for sending forward such quality.

BEST IN SHOW

Trim’s SATISFACTION DELL URBE IMMORTALE ROYCEPRIDE (IMP ITA) – (Bullmastiff)

My star of the day! This young lady took my eye as she entered the ring and didn’t disappoint on handling. She is not a big girl but I loved her breed type and balance. Her head is broad and deep of good proportions with pronounced stop, lovely dark eyes with soulful expression. She is wide in the chest with lovely depth to brisket, correct in body. She has great width over the rear with well developed hindquarters. Despite the heat she coped really well and moved sound with enthusiasm. I could have taken her home!

RESERVE BEST IN SHOW

Scarlet’s VANITONIA ENCHANTED OVER MICHELROY JW – (Beagle)

Another exhibit that came into the ring with purpose, this tri coloured bitch filled my eye for her overall breed type. Her head is beautifully shaped and feminine, no mistaking she is a girl. She stands on her toes and with her slightly arched neck gives her a superior appearance. She is so well made in front with great layback to shoulder with matching upperarm, her body is correct with plenty of depth, well ribbed back to short loin. Her hindquarters are well angulated and well developed in first and second thigh. On the move she comes alive, so sound on the out and back, holding a firm topline in profile with the desired reach and drive, super head carriage.

BEST PUPPY IN SHOW

Hucker’s OSHALBEN OLISSA AT BEVANRAY – (French Bulldog)

I fell for this one hook, line and sinker! She came into the ring with that look of innocence and captured my attention immediately. On handling she impressed me for her sturdy, non exaggerated appearance, her appealing broad, yet feminine head and those beautiful dark round eyes that just reeled me in. She is cobby in body with good depth to brisket and well sprung to the ribs and short loin. She has soundness in movement, free and flowing covering the ground with ease, she showed such confidence for one so young, still with enthusiasm at the end of the day in the heat. I will follow her future with interest.

RESERVE BEST PUPPY IN SHOW

Parkinson’s DELBRUPAR BARNYARD BOOGIE (Bichon Frishe)

Here is another smart exhibit, square in profile, raw but with everything in the right place in the correct proportions for his age. He has an attractive head with good ratio of skull to muzzle, his eye are round and dark with strong pigmentation. He is correct in front assembly with good layback of shoulder with matching upperarm. Adequate depth to body for his age, he has lovely width over the rear, broad thighs and well bent stifles. He moves as he is made, sound with reach and drive. Pushed the Frenchie all the way.

BEST VETERAN IN SHOW

Rose’s PENNYDACH MYSTIQUE AT ROSENCRANTZ (Dachshand Mini S/H)

This cutie headed up a collection of quality veterans, I was spoilt for choice and had to split some hairs. She oozes breed type, is feminine in head with good eye shape and expression, her front is deep with prominent keel and elbows well tucked in. She carries the correct amount of body condition with great muscle tone. Moved sound with purpose holding a level topline.

This is a well balanced compact male with typical breed type. He has a good head of correct proportions with dark round eyes, small ears of good shape and carriage. Well made throughout, in fit condition and effortless sound movement well up on his toes, close up for BVIS.
