Tayside, Lochee & District CC Open Show 9th Sept 2025
Thank you to the friendly Committee firstly for the invitation and then for welcoming me on the day. I must also praise my steward for his help and efficiency. I thoroughly enjoyed my day and I’m grateful to everyone who entered and exhibited.
113. AV Open Bitch (9, 4 abs)
1. Ritchie’s CHELOVIEW ARABELLA This 17-month-old black and white Lhasa Apso was my choice in this very strong class. A very pleasing head and expression of good proportion. Presents a balanced profile with just enough length of back. Well constructed and straight front. Ribs are well sprung and loin is strong. On the move she maintained a level topline into a high set tail. Presented in top condition.
2. Jolly’s ELBERITH FOR CLANBRUACHAN JW Attractive and quality 3.5 year old Ridgeback in excellent physical condition. Well balanced with plenty of bone and angulation throughout. Head is strong, but still feminine, with plenty of width and high set ears. Strong muzzle and correct dentition. The balance, angulation and proportion of her front is to be admired and is complimented by a good forechest and deep ribbing. Strong and muscular through loin and well angled rear. Sound construction translated well into a very sound mover.
114. AV Bred by Exhibitor (13, 5 abs)
1. Goodbrand’s BRAESNOBEL LOONEY TUNES. A lovely quality 6 year old Bearded Collie with super head, very pleasing correct eye and strong skull. Good length of neck and excellent lay of shoulder giving a very balanced front end construction. Forelegs are straight with enough bone and correct feet. Ribbing is good and extends back into a strong loin which provides balance but I wouldn’t want him any longer. A sound and true mover in all directions with topline held throughout.
2. Brown’s CALWINII'S VALENTINA ROSE JW I was attracted to this 4 year old Pembroke Welsh Corgi when she first entered the ring. Her substance, proportions and outline were very pleasing in a low set frame. She has a very good correctly shaped head with enough stop and a kind expression. Front end construction is good with strong well balanced shoulder, plenty of bone and tight feet. Well ribbed deep chest and strong loin which ensured a level topline while she moved with enthusiasm round the ring.
115. AV Hound Import Register Open (2,0)
1. Stevenson-Bramley’s CAELESTIBLEU HOW YOU DOIN At just 10 months old I felt this Basset Bleu De Gascogne dog was already showing great potential. Excellent for breed type and proportion. Head has plenty of length and correct wedge shape with domed skull. Coat and colouring on head is ideal. Fine, well set ears with desirable inward curl. Good length of neck and balanced shoulder. Forelegs are well boned with acceptable crook for breed. Prominent forechest and good ribbing extending well back as required with length of back. Rear balance is well matched to front and moved very well. As the Basset breeds of France are my passion I will watch this dog develop with interest.
2. Stevenson-Bramley’s VENUS L’ECHO DES CONTRES CELTQUES AVEC REVENITE This 18 month old Basset Bleu De Gascogne bitch is not lacking in breed type. Presents a typical balanced profile on the stack. Feminine head of good length. Excellent sternum and ribbing. In isolation this young girl is a nice typical example of the breed but sadly today she was unsettled on the move and couldn’t measure up to the quality of the dog.
116. Dachshund (Miniature Long-Haired) Open (2, 2 abs)
117. Dachshund (Wire-Haired) Open (3,0)
1. Christie’s CLOUDSIDE VALENTINO AT DECALLEIGH This little dog just commands you attention when he enters the ring. At just 2 years old he is very much the finished article and presents a lovely outline when stacked. Well shaped conical head of good width and ideal proportion. Neck is of good length and lay of shoulder gives desirable balance and proportion to front. Excellent keel and robust ribbing extending well back with forearm and elbows correctly positioned. Strong and well muscled through loin and rear. Absolutely comes alive on the move as his rear drives him round the ring with excellent tail carriage and topline held perfectly throughout. My star of the day and happy to award him BOB Hound Group 1. Also delighted to see him win RBIS later in the day. BOB, HG1
2. Tinker’s DOLLYDASH NEVER ENOUGH The biggest compliment I can pay this dog is that he pushed very close for top honours today and on another day the result could easily be reversed. A very well constructed hound who was shown in excellent condition and undoubtedly fit for purpose. Masculine, well furnished correct head. Neck of good length and well laid shoulder. Great muscle tone throughout and very sound and true in movement. Covered the ground well but just not quite a match for 1 today.
118. Irish Wolfhound Post Graduate (3,0)
1.Dickson’s STRATHMITHIE BUT AND BEN At 17 months old I felt this young dog was starting to show real potential. Presented a pleasing profile when stacked with good proportion and substance. Pleasing masculine head with ample furnishings and strong jaw. Enough length of neck and strong muscular front construction. Chest deep and wide. Good length of back and muscular rear. Starting to come together well on the move and consistent in all directions.
2. Tinker’s MALINKEY’S ACACIA 2.5 year old bitch with good size, balance and proportion. Feminine head, long at not overly wide. Dark eye and fine ears of correct size. Good length of neck giving balance to a well proportioned front. Well off for bone and muscle tone throughout. Moved well.
119. Irish Wolfhound Open (3,0)
1. Lyon’s MALINKEY’S ANGELICA My favourite of the IW exhibits present today. In profile this 2.5 year old bitch just seemed to be the most naturally balanced when stacked. She didn’t disappoint when assessed either. Strong, typical head with good length and proportion. Muscular shoulders around a broad deep chest. Front construction is very good and very much in balanced proportion. Plenty of strength and substance in bone. Body length, topline and underline all compliment the overall picture. Moved very soundly and was true in all directions. BOB, HG4
2. Dickson’s STRATHMITHIE BUT AND BEN
120. Saluki Open (2,0)
1. Phillip’s CH LUACHMHAR JAMILAH SCHEX The quality of this 2.5 year old bitch really stands out, and she has a discernible dignified presence when she enters the ring. Feminine head which is strong in breed type having correctly set ears with ample feathering. Excels in proportion, size and balance when stacked and produces a desirable profile. Neck of good length and shoulder well laid back. Front end construction is balanced and complimented by a deep chest with excellent ribbing. The quality and balance continues through her body and he tail set, carriage and well muscled rear complete the picture. Didn’t put a foot wrong as she effortlessly moved round the ring. BOB, HG2
2. Blythe’s LUACHMHAR JAYISAH Not just out of the same mould as number 1 but this bitch turned out to be a litter sibling. Much of what has been said about her sister very much applies to this girl and she has great proportion and breed type. The differences on many points were marginal but in the majority of cases I preferred number 1. The main difference for me was on the move where this girl didn’t quite have the rear drive and accuracy of rear foot placement of her sibling on the day. None of this takes away from the fact that she is still a quality hound with many positive attributes.
121.Rhodesian Ridgeback Post Graduate (2,0)
1.Jolly’s PRIORPARK WILLIAM WALLACE FOR CLANBRUACHAN JW At only 20 months this dog is maturing very nicely and presents a very balanced profile when stacked. Masculine head of good length and width. Strong neck into well laid shoulder and good depth to chest which completes a very well balanced front end . Ribbing extends well back and muscle tone over loin and rear is well defined. Very positive on the move.
2. Field’s KALABANEY HIGHLAND LASS Being only 7 months old this bitch is understandably very immature but she has an excellent framework to build on for the future. Already showing good balance and proportion and her profile will improve as her chest fills to her elbow. She has a friendly expression and seemed to have an outgoing disposition which will serve her well in the future. Showed glimpses of her potential on the move and was true in all directions.
122. Rhodesian Ridgeback Open (4,0)
1. Ritchie’s JIMANNS HELL ON WHEELS At 2.5 years old this bitch is really starting to look like she is close to her prime. Clean, flowing lines in profile with poise and balance on the stack. Much to be admired about her head and how she carries it. Her depth and fill of chest give real balance to her front end and leg length. Strong and feminine throughout and shown in excellent condition. Very assured on the move. BOB
2. Jolly’s NEGASI ELBERITH FOR CLANBRUACHAN JW
123. Beagle Open (6,3 abs)
1. Findlay’s RHICONICH GOLDIE HAWN I just absolutely loved the head and expression on this 6 month old girl. For her age she stacked up very nicely and her profile is already very good for breed type and balance. Head of ideal proportion well correct set fine leathers. Proportion and balance of front is very promising and ribbing is good. On the move I think this youngster even took her handler by surprise as she powered round the ring with great confidence and drive which belied her immaturity. BOB
2. Fallon’s MOLESEND JACKPOT Nicely proportioned dog of 15 months. He has a masculine well balanced head with good stop and a strong muzzle. Strating to show maturity in body which gives him a balanced profile. Good length of neck and muscular front which is well constructed. Coat and general condition is a credit to his owner. Overall a very sound and happy young hound on the move.
124. AV Hound NSC Post Graduate (9,4 abs)
1. Bain’s CLENTRY BUMBLEBEE AT WENCHONES My choice in this strong class was this 1 year old MSH Dachshund. Still not fully mature this girl already presents a very pleasing profile. Typical head with correct dentition. Soundly constructed front with prominent forechest and good ribbing. Strong loin and well angled rear. Topline held on the move as this little dog powered round the ring.
2.Downing-Christie’s ZIGOUSE I DON’T WANNA WAIT A 1 year old Whippet also showing lots of promise. Looked very settled and had a natural balance when stacked. Long lean feminine head with good type. Good length of neck and shoulders well laid back. Brisket deep and ribs well sprung. Strong through loin and well angled rear. Moved well and shown in great condition.
125. AV Hound NSC Open (6,1 abs)
1. Brander’s WINDWALKER HEART OF GOLD Presents an image of power and elegance when stacked and has a balanced profile. Skull of good width tapering to strong jaw with correct dentition. Long elegant neck with good lay back of shoulder. Brisket deep and well muscled front. Good length of body and well toned loin. Standing well out at rear with ample angulation. Moved freely and covered the ground with ease as a Whippet should. HG3
2. Cruikshank’s WYCHWAY-CROWN’S GHILLIE GINS ISLAND AT CULSALMAND A lot to admire about this 3.5 year old Bloodhound. Plenty of substance without exaggeration and a balanced profile stacked. Plenty of length to narrow head giving noble expression with nicely inward curled leathers. Strong in forequarters with straight front. Well ribbed with plenty depth of keel. Plenty of well toned muscle though loin and hindquarters. Desired elastic movement. Shown in top condition.
126. AV Hound Minor Puppy (4,2 abs)
1. Findlay’s RHICONICH GOLDIE HAWN
2. Field’s KALABANEY HIGHLAND LASS
127. AV Hound Puppy (3,1 abs)
1. Stevenson-Bramley’s CAELESTIBLEU HOW YOU DOIN
2. Findlay’s RHICONICH MIDAS TOUCH Another young Beagle showing lots of potential at just 6 months old. Also beaten in the breed class by his litter sister, although they are both still understandable very raw, but this could easily have been reversed if he had been more settled. The same could be said in this class. Good size, shape and proportion. Overall a very promising young hound.
128. AV Hound Special Beginners (4,2 abs)
1. Lyon’s MALINKEY’S ANGELICA
2. Bower’s SASILASY EDGE OF CHAOS AT LYONGLEN 18 month old tricolour Basset Hound. Typical profile without exaggeration. Masculine head with good shape and just enough stop. Good length of neck, lay of shoulders and well muscled. Well angled rear. Moved well but could have had more drive from the rear. Held his topline well on the move.
129. AV Hound Veteran (9,4 abs)
1. Phillip’s CH VIDANA AMIRA BEREGA TURI In excellent shape and physical condition for 9 years old. Balanced head foreface to back skull with good correct oval eye shape good length of leather. Sound front construction with good lay of shoulder and well boned forelegs. Good depth and length of brisket. Slight arch over well toned loin. Plenty of width at rear and moderate bend of stifle. Moved with a precision and elegance which belied her years. Delighted to see her be awarded BVIS later in the day.
2. Fitzpatrick’s BLUNDERHALL MOONWALKER AT SPRINGSTORM This 8 year old Beagle has very pleasing type throughout and is well proportioned, although slightly less length of leg would give ideal balance. Good head and pleasing expression, with well set ears. Strong well boned forelegs. Good length of body with well sprung ribs and muscular hindquarters. Really performed well today. Stacked perfectly and never put a foot wrong on the move.
