ISLE OR WIGHT GUNDOG

15th March 2025

Judge - Michael Blay

Thank you to the committee for the invite and the “Islanders” for their hospitality. A good day all

round with some lovely dogs to go over and officiate upon.

BEST IN SHOW

1. Middleton & Mayhew: Sh Ch Arnac Bay Hebe WGC ShCex EW22. CBR. B. Bitch I’ve had

the pleasure of judging before. Super head shape, clean through neck and shoulder, well

sprung rib and short strong loin, best of coats, thick with oily texture and just right

amount of wave, strong rear quarters which she used to her advantage in the main ring.

2. Blackley & Salero: Wightroche The Bee JW. Cocker Sp. B. Black girl of excellent shape

and size in profile, classic head set on good neck and shoulders, good width through

body, well sprung rib and short loin, fat bum and loved her angles behind, found her in

good coat, handled well on the move with a steady gait and classic lashing tail.

3. Bunker: Winterwell Little Itch at Karitagan. GSP. B. Last time I judged this bitch I gave her

BP in breed and boy has she come on since, loved her shape in profile, clean head of

lovely type, liked her body shape with firm topline and correct tail set, strength to her

rear quarters and showing power yet elegance on the move.

4. Whitworth: Mad Max of Freworth. (Imp Ita) JW. Lagotto. D. What a surprising find, lovely

shape and size to this boy, balanced throughout, good head shape with an intelligent

expression, muscled neck of correct length and well laid shoulders, liked his front

assembly, well sprung through rib and level topline, good angles behind and correct

footfall on the move, found him with a good coat formed of woolly ringlets and of the

correct texture.

BEST PUPPY IN SHOW

1. Bowen: Thandiwe invisible String Around Clandrift. Field Sp. B. Judged these 2 dogs

earlier in the day in a stakes class and my notes say this field needed a bit more oomph.

For a puppy she just got better and better as the day went on, and in the final say she

topped the Curly on the movement, straight and true on the up and back and showing

good drive and reach in profile, lovely body shape with good proportions, full of breed

type and found her in good coat.

2. Miller, Millichamp, Whitehead & Whitehead: Foxriever Sea Shadow. Curly Coated Ret. D.

Unlucky with the Field coming into her own in the final as he’d beaten her in an earlier

stakes class. Loved his shape and size for his age, super head and well set neck and

shoulders, good rib to him and good topline, strong behind and mature on the move,

good coat with tight rings and a good covering, just preferred the Field’s attitude and

drive in the best in show.

3. Hunnybun: Riverbrue Quicksilver. Irish Setter. D. Raw youngster of good size, liked his

head and soft, kind expression, good front and bodying up nicely for age, still raw on the

move, but showed enough for me to award him PG3

4. Nicklin: Daenery’s Girl on Fire At Dexbenella TAF. ESS. B. Lovely young bitch who I’m

sure will go far, clean lines to her, sweetest of heads, good neck and shoulders, plenty of

rib for age and good topline and well angled rear, moved well around the big ring with a

lovely driving action.

BEST VETERAN IN SHOW

1. Hydon: Ir Sh Ch Clentonian Pandemonium JW ShCEx OSW VW. ESS. B. Lovely “oldie”

fully deserving of BVIS. Clean head with good expression, good neck and shoulders,

liked the shape to her body, found her in excellent coat, strong and powerful on the

move with good foot placement and clean lines.

2. Drake: Clamerkin Bohemian Queen. Pointer. B. b/w with classy head and appearance,

good length to neck, straight front legs with correct ovel bone, liked her rear angulation

and shown without excessive slope to topline, moved well on the day.

1.Wainwright: Goldenmajko Make Believe. Golden Ret. D. 2.Gammon: Glenbrows Reminiscent.

Hun Viz. B. Same comment applies to this kennel mate, all the makings of a good bitch just

needs a bit more ring craft, when settled and stretched out more has a good body shape, good

head and expression and nice oily texture to coat, moved well. 3.Brewer: Ruddleberry

Lothlorien. Flat Coated Ret. D.

Junior. 3,2

1.Gammon: Glenbrows Reminiscent. Hun Viz. B. 2.Hunt: Wakaduze Dotame. NSDTR. B.

1.Bellamy & Bull: Rafthouse Cygnet Of Stonedragon. Pointer. B. Classic B/W pointer of a good

size and with no exaggerations, good head shape and clean neck, deep, well sprung ribs and

strong through loin and rear quarters, lovely straight lines on the move and a constant non stop

tail. 2.Searles: Rommy De Ubbadat JW (Imp Esp) SWD. B. I Liked this young bitch a lot, but

unfortunately wouldn’t stop fidgeting on the final stack, good head with good proportion, strong

in neck and plenty of rib under her profusion of coat, short strong loin and correct shape behind,

slightly too much curl in her tail for me, but that didn’t distract for her clean movement.
