Torquay & District Canine Society General Open Show 1st November 2025 The Matford Livestock Centre, Exeter, EX2 8FD Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at your show - I had a lovely day with a warm welcome and a quality entry too. All exhibits were well presented and of excellent temperament. I’d also like to extend my thanks to John, my steward, who kept the ring running smoothly. Gordon Setter Open (1, 1a) Large Munsterlander Post Graduate (4) Caile’s KAMAZE’S DANCING QUEEN. A well balanced 18 month old bitch of good proportions. Typical head, good reach of neck flowing nicely into her shoulders. Well sprung ribs with good depth and slight tuck up to her loin. Well turned stifles, stood foursquare. Accurate on the move, presenting a balanced picture on a free stride. RBOB. Wakefield’s LERITON LUPUS. An enthusiastic young male of 9 months. Masculine head with the correct slight rise and dark, almond eyes. Strong neck and well pronounced forechest. Slight slope to his topline, ribs well sprung. Moderate hindquarters. Moved with good footfall. BPIB. Open (3) Stevens’ GHYLLBECK FRINGILLA. I liked this 8 year old bitch for her overall breed type. Feminine head with correct dark eye, slight slope. Strong neck, flowing well into her body. Her forehand is well balanced with her hindquarters. Strong topline with ribs well sprung, slight tuck up to loin. Good tail set. Sound on the move. BOB. Wakefield’s EKKOLANDER MERLOT. Typical, masculine head on this 4 year old dog, well set into his strong neck of good length. Shoulders well laid back. Would like a bit more forechest. Held his topline well with a slight tuck up to his loin. Well angled stifle with hocks well let down. Moved soundly, not as tidy as 1. Retriever (Flat Coated) Puppy (3, 1a) McIlwaine’s FLATCHARM MR HECKLES FOR BENOVEOR. I really liked the type of this 11 month old dog. Totally “dog” in head without being overdone, nicely moulded one piece with dark, well shaped eyes with his ears nicely set. Clean neck flowing well into his shoulders. Positive in forechest, nicely balanced with his moderate hindquarters. Strong through the topline, depth chest. Stands foursquare on strong, tight feet. Tail well set and carried level. Excellent on the move, at one with his young handler. I will watch him mature with interest. RBOB & BPIB. McIlwaine’s FLATCHARM SMELLY CAT TO BENOVEOR. A pretty 11 month old bitch with good substance and full of enthusiasm. One piece head with dark eyes. Long, clean neck set nicely with well placed shoulders. Deep through the chest, ribs well sprung. Holds a strong topline with short coupling. Tail well set. Stands foursquare. Moved freely and accurately. Graduate (3, 1a) Gale’s WILLOWSWIND SKYLARK. Beautiful 14 month old bitch. Loved her head, feminine, nicely moulded with well placed dark eyes, set well into her long neck. Good layback of shoulder and correct forechest with nice return of upperarm. Mature through the body for her age. Topline held well throughout with short, strong coupling. Well bent stifles with well let down hocks. Moved soundly on a free flowing stride with good footfall. I’m sure she has a positive future ahead. BOB. Stortenbeker’s FLATGOLD’S WISTLE WHILE YOU WORK (IMP DEU). An 18 month old dog with good bone throughout. Stronger in head, well placed onto his strong neck. Well ribbed back with short coupling. Stood foresquare and has the correct tailset. Moved soundly. Limit (2, 1a) McCammick’s MONTEGRINO PIED PIPER FOR SAFFDALES JW. 2 year old bitch. One piece head with dark eye, though I’d prefer more refinement with a flatter skull. Plenty of neck flowing well into her shoulders. Good forechest. Mature through the body with good depth of chest and spring of rib. Well angled stifles and let down hocks. Tail well set and carried level on the move. Moved accurately just lifting her front as she is more angulated in rear. Open (0) Hungarian Vizsla Graduate (4, 1a) Parker’s GLENBROWS SCARLET. A well balanced 7 month old bitch. Lean, feminine, clean head nicely set on a strong, smooth neck. Positive in both fore and hindquarters. Well ribbed back with tucked up loin. Depth of chest yet to come. Strong topline with good tailset. Hocks well let down, stood foursquare on catlike feet. Moved freely on long strides. BPIB. Challis’s VIZSLANYA SARKANY. 9 month old dog. Masculine head with moderate stop. Muscular neck into well placed shoulders. Good forechest and correct depth of chest. Tail set correctly low. Moderate hindquarters. Stands foursquare on strong feet. Moved truly. Limit (2) Parker & Gist’s GLENBROWS ROUGE JW. 2 year old feminine bitch. Good substance throughout and presented in good condition. Good head with ears well set. Strong, clean neck of good length. Ribs well sprung, broad through the chest with a good tuck up. Moderate hindquarters with well let down hocks. Stood foursquare and covered the ground on the move, though not the tidiest in front. RBOB. Dallas’s VIZSLANYA PELION. A 3 year old dog. Masculine head with good median line, well set on muscular neck. Modestly angled fore and hindquarters, would prefer better layback of shoulder. Good depth through the chest. Well tucked up. Ever wagging tail. Moved soundly but not with the ground clearance of 1. Open (2) Challis’s VIZSLANYA VIZI JW. Very nice 3 year old bitch. Well balanced and robust. Typical head, ears well set and strong neck flowing well into her forehand. Good layback of shoulder and correct forechest. Broad and deep chest with clean elbows. Well ribbed with good tuck up. Tail set correctly. Moderate hindquarters with well let down hocks. Strong feet, stood foursquare. Moved on a long stride accurately. BOB. Dallas’s VIZSLANYA PELION. 2nd in Limit. Spaniel (Cocker) Special Yearling (1) Salmon’s CRIMICAR BLU DIAMOND. A very merry blue roan 19 month old bitch. Good head with square muzzle, good chiselling and distinct stop. Moderate neck, neatly set. Strong, level topline with good tailset. Good forechest. Mature through the body with a deep chest. Well angled hindquarters. Drove well around the ring accurately. Post Graduate (0) Open (2) Salmon’s CRIMICAR INDIGO ECLIPSE ShCEx. Almost 5 year old blue roan dog and a true showman. Square muzzle with dark eyes and well set ears. Strong neck. Compact through the body with short loin. Held a level topline with gentle slope to well set tail. Well rounded hindquarters. Stood foursquare on catlike feet. Moved merrily and truly with drive. BOB. Miller’s EDDESWARREN MOONLIGHT. 4 year old bitch presented in a beautiful golden coat. Sweet expression, well proportioned head with definite stop. Well set, strong neck flowing into well laid back shoulders. Well developed chest. Strong hindquarters with good bend of stifle. Stood foursquare. Moved truly on a driven stride. RBOB. Pointer Special Yearling (3, 1a) Matthews’s SONHAM JUST GOOD FRIENDS (AI). Liver and white 15 month old bitch. Just loved her overall balance and flow. Well proportioned head with kind expression. The muzzle could be more concave. Strong, long neck leading well back to her shoulders. Well sprung ribs leading well back. Deep through the chest. Well bent stifles with well let down hocks. Stood square with well arched toes. Moved on a well driven, ground covering stride. BOB. Osman’s FLEURFIELD BENJAMIN BUTTON WITH MARISSOLO. 10 month old orange and white dog. Loved his head, very typical for the breed. Well arched long neck. Well sprung ribs going well back with slight arch to loin. Depth through the chest yet to fully develop as expected for a puppy. Well angled hindquarters with hocks nicely let down. Moved with drive. BPIB. Post Graduate (3) Matthews’s SONHAM JUST THE TICKET (AI). 15 month old liver and white dog. Masculine head with nice breadth to skull. Muscular, clean neck. Prominent forechest. Good spring of rib. Strong hindquarters with a good turn of stifle and well let down hocks. Tail set level with topline. Moved on a long stride, though a bit loose in front at the moment. Osman’s CATTISTOCK COSMOS WITH MARISSOLO. 4 year old black and white dog. Masculine head with well defined stop and kind expression. Strong neck nicely set. Deep through the chest with ribs well sprung. Slight arch to loin. Muscular hindquarters with well bent stifles. Neat feet. Moved on a good stride, also not the tidiest in front. Open (1) Tregaskis’s MOENFAIR SANGUINEUM LUNA JW. 7 year old liver and white dog with a well proportioned, moderately broad head with bright expression. Strong, ached neck flowing well into his body. Good depth through the chest with well sprung ribs. A little longer in loin. Well turned stifles with hocks well let down. Stood foursquare on well arched toes. Moved on a free stride. RBOB. Spaniel (Welsh Springer) Graduate (4, 2a) Attwood’s ROXDALE WISPA BY KYLOWEN. Promising 6 month old bitch. Feminine head well proportioned. Clean neck sloping well into shoulders. Good forechest with depth developing through the chest. Well ribbed back with strong coupling. Moderate hindquarters with strong bone and hocks well let down. Standing foursquare on strong feet. Tail ever wagging. Moved soundly on a free flowing stride accurately. BPIB. Lamport’s GLENBROWS HOPEFULNESS. 3 year old bitch presented in a beautiful full coat. Feminine head, slightly domed, set well into a strong neck. Good depth of chest and spring of rib, well coupled. Good bend of stifle with well let down hocks. Stood straight on catlike feet. Moved accurately. Limit (2, 1a) McIlwaine, McIlwaine & Reynolds’s FERNDEL REBECCA FOR BENOVEOR. 2 year old bitch. Beautiful head, nicely domed and well proportioned with kind expression. Good reach of neck flowing well into her shoulders. Correct forehand with her legs well under her body, with clean fitting elbows. Strong coupling. Well angulated hindquarters with well let down hocks. Stood foursquare on well boned legs with catlike feet. Moved truly with drive. Presented well in hard condition. BOB Open (5, 2a) Attwood’s IR SH CH KYLOWEN DEMELZA VW IR VCH. 10 year old bitch, belies her years. Though losing a bit of strength in the topline, this bitch was well balanced and moved so truly with powerful drive. Like her head, slight dome to skull with a fairly square muzzle. Strong, clean neck of good length. Well sprung ribs. Strong coupling. Moderate hindquarters. Tail well set on. RBOB. Reynolds & McIlwaine’s BENOVEOR THE SHOW MUST GO ON. 3 year old dog presented in great condition. Masculine head with defined stop and dark eye. Clean neck of good length. Deep through the chest and well ribbed back. Good turn of stifle with good width to hindquarters. Tail well set on. Covered the ground well on the move. Spaniel (English Springer) Post Graduate (3) Hill’s PEASBLOSSOM EMOTIONS WITH TEIGNVALLEY. 9 month old black and white bitch. Skull fairly broad with good rise from muzzle. Dark eye with kind and alert expression. Strong neck with good arch, flowing well down to her well laid shoulders. Well developed in chest for her age with clean elbows. Well balanced fore and hindquarters. Stood foursquare on straight legs and well rounded feet. Moved freely and truly. RBOB & BPIB. Kibby’s PINHAYS PRINCESS SARAH. 17 month old liver and white bitch. Well proportioned in head, moderately broad with defined stop. Well chiselled below the eye. Clean neck of good length. Shoulders not as laid back as 1. Strong through the topline. Good spring of rib. Good bend of stifle with hocks well let down. Moved freely on a driven stride, not as tidy in front. Open (1) Hill’s TEIGNVALLEY NEW BEGINNINGS JW. 2 year old black and white dog. Masculine head, moderately broad with defined stop. Deep through the muzzle with kind expression and good chiselling. Muscular neck, slightly arched. Well laid back shoulders and good forechest. Deep through the chest and well ribbed back. Well bent stifles. Tail well set on. Strong feet with well arched toes. Moved on a driven stride. BOB. Spaniel (American Cocker) Open (3, 2a) Bedding & Jennings’s SH CH ALIBAMA KNOCKOUT JW. 2 year old black and tan dog. Compact and well balanced, presented in good condition. Well rounded head with deep muzzle. Long, muscular neck with slight arch. Deep chest with sufficient width. Short coupling and strong hindquarters. Moved effortlessly, covered the ground well. BOB Spaniel (Field) Post Graduate (3, 1a) Adams’s SONNETEND TAILOR MADE FOR IRISBEL. 17 month old black bitch. Well proportioned. Well chiselled head with long muzzle. Long, muscular neck flowing well into her body. Ribs well sprung with deep chest. Longer in loin. Moderate bend of stifle and well let down hocks. Moved on a long stride. Johnson’s SYLVIIDAE NOT TOO SHABBY. 9 month old black bitch, well balanced for her age. Lovely head with gentle expression. Strong neck. Well laid back shoulders. Ribs well sprung with short coupling and level topline. Strong hindquarters with well let down hocks. More development in the chest needed to strengthen front movement. BPIB. Well sprung ribs. Held a level topline throughout. Moderate bend of stifle with well let down hocks. Tail well set. Stood foursquare on tight, round feet. Moved with drive. BOB. Weimaraner Post Graduate (2) Jefferies’s RIVERTONE ETHENA OVER SILBERMEER. 10 month old bitch, very well balanced. Moderately long, feminine head, well set on a strong, clean neck. Shoulders well laid back with good return of upper arm. Good depth of chest and well ribbed back. Moderate tuck up at loin. Well turned stifles and let down hocks. Stood foursquare on neat, catlike feet. Moved accurately on a ground covering stride. RBOB & BPIB. Kerslake’s SABSKY KARLSTEJN. 7 month old dog. Good substance to this dog and developing well through the body. Strong neck of good length. Correct forechest. Well sprung ribs with good depth to chest. Moderate tuck up. Not as strong in hindquarters as 1 at this stage. Moved ok once settled. Open (5, 1a) Goord’s DARTVIEW FORMULA ONE. 3 year old dog. Good head with slight median line and eyes presenting a keen and kind expression. Ears nicely set. Strong neck of good length flowing well into his body. Deep chest with well sprung ribs. Moderate hindquarters with well bent stifles and well let down hocks. Tail well set. Moved accurately on a long stride. BOB Jefferies’s RIVERTONE AURORA OVER SILBERMEER. 16 month old bitch. Lovely clean outline on this feminine bitch. Good head, well set on long neck. Good forechest and clean elbows with deep chest and well sprung ribs. Well ribbed back. Slight tuck to loin. Tail set level with her back. Well bent stifles. A little unsettled on the move. Showing promise for when she’s fully mature. Retriever (Curly Coated) Post Graduate (3) Jack’s MAYCOURT I’M STILL STANDING. 11 month old liver dog with plenty of substance. Masculine head of good proportions. Strong neck flowing well into his body. Well laid back shoulders and good forechest. Deep chest and strong loin. Tail well set. Strong, round feet. Strong hindquarters with well let down hocks. Moved on a good stride, though looser in front at the moment. RBOB & BPIB. Courtier’s MAYCOURT COVER SHOT. Liver bitch almost 3 years old. Lovely feminine head with friendly expression. Small ears nicely set. Clean neck of good length. Strong in her topline with slight tuck up to loin. Moderate hindquarters. STood foursquare on catlike feet. Tail well set. Moved on a positive stride, though also slightly untidy in front. Open (4, 3a) Courtier’s MAYCOURT TAKE ME TO THE TOP JW. Black bitch of almost 3 years. Beautful! Just love her. Feminine with good substance. Well proportioned head of typical shape and well balanced through the body. In good coat and condition. Held a level topline, deep through the chest with slight tuck up at loin. Moderate turn of stifle with well let down hocks. Stood foursquare on tidy feet. Moved effortlessly with reach and drive.
