Judge’s Report – Mrs Maureen Taylor (Maursett)

My thanks to the committee for the invite to judge at this well run and friendly show, one I would recommend it to all judges, stewards and exhibitors. I had some excellent exhibits and had to make some difficult decisions. I was extremely pleased to see my Puppy Group winner, the Cocker Spaniel, Lawrie’s Inverella Hugo Boss, go Reserve Best in Show and my Best Veteran, the Gordon Setter Tillet’s Fieldtalk’s Lady in Red JW go Best Veteran in Show under Bill Armstrong.

Many thanks also to my stewards who were excellent.

AVNSC Gundog Graduate- Graduate (3 entries 2 absent) 1st and Best AVSC Gerrard’s Lagotto Romagnolo Gina Lollobrigida with Carmandine. 15 month old bitch who is a little nervous at present, but with time she will no doubt gain confidence. Pretty head, straight front, well turned stifles and in decent coat.

AVNSC Gundog- Open (2 entries 2 absent)

Spaniel Clumber- Open (1 entry) 1st & BOB Steele’s Stonilea Celebration This boy is maturing nicely, and has a classic head with clean eyes. I loved his expression. Good length of back with ribs going well back, well turned stifle and hard condition, he moved out with drive.

German Longhaired Pointer - Open (2 entries 0 absent) 1st and BOB Thomson’s Sarscottah Fearless Flame. 2nd Martin’s Sarscottah Fusilier at Lorabar 18 month old litter brothers and so many of the comments apply to both, but I preferred the tail carriage of 1. Pleasing head and expression, well feathered high set ears. Deep chest, correct angulation front and rear, tight feet and both moved out well with drive.

German Shorthaired Pointer – Graduate (9 Entries 3 Abs) 1st Tait’s Benboee Beeloved A taller bitch, but balanced. Pretty clean cut head, with a scissor bite, dark eyes, correctly angulated fore and aft, which meant she moved well. 2nd Angus’s Edelmidpoint Native River Through Calmerell. Little to choose between 1 and 2, but preferred his size. Masculine head of correct proportions, dark eyes, deep chest, well turned stifles and a good shape, with tight feet. Moved well. 3rd Stewart’s Magregor Take it All Off Levagrad

German Shorthaired Pointer - Open (7 Entries, 2 Abs) 1st & BOB Stewart’s Sh Ch Magregor Amourette Avec Levagrad. Quality bitch, feminine head, scissor bite, deep chest, well sprung ribs and correct shape, balanced and moved true fore and aft demonstrating enthusiasm on the go. 2nd Tait’s Benobee Beelieve. Pleasing head and expression, scissor bite, deep chest, tight feet and well turned stifles. Moved well. 3rd Symmers Kinlochmhor Rowanberry.

Pointer - Junior (1 Entry, 1 Abs).

Pointer - Limit (3 Entries, 1 Abs) 1st Story & Dyer’s Kimifleur Gold Standard. Orange and white bitch. I loved her classic head and expression. She is balanced with good reach of neck, correct topline, well turned stifles and moves out well with drive. 2nd Fewster’s Kimifleir Back to Black. Litter sister to 1. A taller bitch, with scissor bite, sweet head, dark eyes and tight feet. Good turn of stifle and her movement was good..

Pointer - Open (1 Entries 0 Abs) 1st & BOB Fewster & Rossiter’s Sh Ch Ir Sh Ch Joneva Just a Kiss JW SHCEX OSW CW’25. Stood alone but such a quality bitch, classic head, scissor bite, dark eyes, good reach of neck, deep chest, short coupled, correct angulation fore and aft. She moved with drive and enthusiasm.

Retriever (Labrador) – Puppy (3 Entries 1 Abs) 1st & BP Lawrie’s Dechlaw Irenes Dream Girl. Well boned, scissor bite and dark eyes, strong neck, deep chest and short coupled. She is balanced and well constructed. Presented in good condition and moved true fore and aft. 2nd McKittrick’s Millie’s Vanilla Sky. A rangier girl, but nevertheless still balanced with a sweet head, dark eyes, scissor bite, tight feet and well turned stifles. Moved well. 3rd Baron’s Landebec Villanelle.

Retriever (Labrador) - Junior (1 Entry 1 Abs)

Retriever (Labrador) – Limit (6 Entries 1 Abs) 1st & BOB Parker’s Bruadarach Baile Eilidh. Liver girl of a nice size, who possesses a feminine head, scissor bite, along with a deep chest, well sprung ribs and short coupled. Well boned. Fore and aft construction is good which meant she covered the ground well . 2nd Hibbs’ Binnaig Blissful. Scisssor bite, straight front, deep chest and decent spring of rib, tight round feet, who also excelled in movement. 3rd Farquharson’s Ramsayville Russian Rhytham

Retriever (Labrador) - Open (2 Entries 1 Abs) 1st Gilroy’s Claychalk Costa Yen. Yellow male, masculine head without exaggeration. Dark eyes. Well boned, strong neck, level topline moved well 2nd Hardy’s Gighty Burn Echo. A rangier type, with dark eyes, pleasing expression and level topline. In good, hard condition resulting in pleasing movement.

Weimaraner – Puppy (2 Entries 0 Abs) 1st BP & Puppy Group 4 Charlish’s Gunalt The Morning After. I loved this 6 month old young dog, who moved well once he settled. Excellent silver colour. He is balanced, with a pleasing head and expression, decent reach of neck, with good forechest, well turned stifle and kept his shape on the move. 2nd Guthrie’s Sireva Mayhem. Older pup not quite as balanced as 1, but even so there is a lot to like about him. Scissor bite, correct front and rear angulation, he moved with drive.

Weimaraner - Junior (2 Entries 0 Abs) Repeat of Puppy

Weimaraner - Limit (4 Entries 1 Abs) 1st & BOB Cairns’ Lamarg Silver Huntsman. A mature masculine dog, but in no way overdone. Balanced with a deep chest and ribs going well back, along with correct angulation fore and aft. Presented in hard condition so moved like he owned the ring. I would just prefer a lower tail carriage to complete the picture. 2nd Maclaine & Dickson’s Greyspirit Hopes N Dreams JW SHCEX OSW VW. Although a veteran, she belies her age and can still show the youngsters how to move. Sweet head, scissor bite, well sprung ribs and has forechest, straight front and well turned stifles. 3nd Maclaine and Dickson’s Greyspirit Mystique JW.

Weimaraner - Open (4 Entries 0 Abs) 1st Maclaine and Dickson’s Greyspirit Purdue JW SHCM SHCEXVW. At 9 years old, she is still a quality bitch who just looks so feminine. Balanced and stylish, with a feminine head, scissor bite, tight feet and correct topline. Constructed correctly fore and aft, she moves out with drive. 2nd Duffy’s Almoor Lady Gaga. Another veteran bitch who is feminine with a scissor bite, deep chest, well sprung ribs and well turned stifles. She also moved out well. 3rd Cairns’ Lamarg Silver Show Off.

AV Gundog – Minor Puppy (6 Entries, 1 Abs) 1st Stevenson’s ESS Spuffing Daiquiri at Gaolachcara. A balanced Liver and white bitch with a pretty feminine head. Correct scissor bite. Deep chest, well sprung ribs, and correct topline, tight feet and is so well constructed meaning she covered the ring with ease and enthusiasm. 2nd Brindle’s Cocker Spaniel Ordhaway Sun Dance Girl. 6 month old bitch who is so pretty, sweet head and expression, scissor bite, short coupled, balanced outline, which she kept on the move, tight feet. 3rd Warden’s Gol Ret Holinbrae Eurastar at Glentochy. ).

AV Gundog – Open (12 Entries 6 Abs) 1st & Group 4 Watson’s Quettedene Stars Aligned Over Bordacity I have judged this boy before and he is still a cracking youngster. Masculine without being overdone, he has a handsome head and pleasant expression with a scissor bite. Well constructed fore and aft, short coupled and moved with drive, but played up a little in the Group. 2nd Macfarlane’s Irish Setter Harelferg New Tricks for Umfrido SHCEXSHCOEX Setter). An elegant boy with a classic head and racy outline, scissor bite, deep chest, well sprung ribs and good turn of stifles. Moved out with drive and enthusiasm. 3rd Warden’s Gol Ret Holinbrae Zoom Time at Glentochy.

AV Gundog – Veteran (21 Entries, 10 Abs) I could have done with far more red cards as so many quality dogs went cardless in this class. 1st & BVIS Tillet’s Fieldtalk’s Lady in Red JW (Gordon Setter). 7 year old bitch with good tan and a feminine classic head and sweet expression. Scissor bite, dark eyes, deep chest, well sprung ribs going well back, and good turn of stifles. She moved with drive and enthusiasm. 2nd Hynd’s Scomar Magic Flute VW (Cocker Spaniel). 12 years old and moved like a youngster. Masculine dog with good front angulation, deep chest, tight feet. 3rd Warden’s Maclaine &Dickson’s Greyspirit Rock Star From Hantzburg JW SHCEX OSW VW.

AV Gundog – Champion (4 Entries, 2 Abs) 1st Fewster’s &Rossiter’s Sh Ch Ir Sh Ch Joneva Just a Kiss JW SHCEX OSW CW’25. 2nd Mason, Cubb & Findlay’s (Hung Vizsla) Sh Ch Oroshaza Chukar VW CW18. Well, he may be a veteran, but this boy is certainly still full of beans! I loved his head and expression. He has a deep chest and is balanced throughout, resulting in positive movement demonstrating both drive and enthusiasm.

AV PCC Puppy Stakes (22 Entries, 15 Abs) 1st Stevenson’s Spuffing Daiquiri at Gaolachcara (ESS). 2nd Swan’s (Whippet) Cygnetsnest Moonlight. What an elegant young dog. I loved his head and expression. Scissor bite and deep chest. His good construction resulted in positive movement. 3nd Kempton’s (Border Collie) Borderbrook Final Destiny

AV PCC Open Stakes Bitch - (14 Entries 8 Abs) 1st Odonnell’s (Russian Black Terrier) Ir Ch Kalaslane Revenge for Neukiebear (IKC) SHCEX. She certainly catches the eye, having great shape and balance, along with a pleasing expression. Short coupled with strong bone, deep chest, strong neck and well turned stifles. Having gone over this bitch, I expected her to power around the ring and she certainly did not disappoint. 2nd Macdougall’s (Leonberger) Leoflaed Just for You Prideofelsa. Shown in beautiful coat and condition, well off for bone and with a pleasant expression, tight feet and balanced appearance. 3rd Russell & Black’s (Chihuahua Long Coated) Chirouxe Sunny Disposition
