Goyt Valley Gundog Society

Firstly I would like to thank the committee for the invitation to judge and for all their hard work in arranging this well run show in a fabulous venue where I was made to feel very welcome. A special thanks to my lovely stewards for the day Barbara and Pauline who did a fabulous job and kept everything ticking along nicely. And lastly to the exhibitors who brought their dogs under me.

Hungarian Vizsla

PUPPY D/B (1.1)

1. PARKER, HARRISON & HARRISON, Miss V Mr TD & Mrs HL – GLENBROWS SCARLET (6mth B) BPIB Nice feminine bitch with a lovely soft expression, correct eyes, earset and good dentition. Lovely neck leading into nice front angulation and prominent breast bone good depth of chest. Tight elbows standing on nice tight feet . Level topline leading into correct tail set with moderate angulation, moved gracefully around the ring with drive from the rear, maintaining her topline. Really settled in the ring and relaxed for one so young.

JUNIOR D/B (0.2)

LIMIT D/B (1.4)

1. SHARROCKS, MRS C – VIZASH HUNOR (2yr D) This young man is new to the ring and was somewhat unsettled to the environment. Handler showed good dentition on a lean head with good nostrils and correct earset. A larger boy but with a nice clean neck. Would like a little more breastbone. Good set of tail however slightly over stretched on the rear which affected the stifle angulation. I suspect due to his unsettled nature he did not move straight and true but with more exposure to new environments this may improve and help him relax enabling him to enjoy his time in the ring.

OPEN D/B (2.3)

1. BRADLEY, Ms EM – HIGHFORCE ONE VISION (9yr B) BOB For an old lady, she still has it, even with her natural highlights. Lean head with such soft eyes, well proportioned head with correct earset. Moderately long neck, well arched and still with good muscle tone showing she is still as active as ever. Correct front angulation with nice tight elbows and lovely tight feet on straight pasterns. Withers to lowest part of chest equal to distance from chest to ground showing good proportions. Prominent fore-chest with good spring of rib and depth. Nice tuck up into well-muscled back legs with moderate angulation and hocks well let down. Correct tail set and elegant lively movement around the ring maintaining her topline and tail carriage with drive from the rear.

2. AYNSLEY, Miss G – VIZASH HEIRESS OF CAORUNN JW (2yr B) Nice young girl with soft eye and good dentition, moderate stop but more of a square muzzle than number 1. Good ear set with well-muscled neck. Didn’t have the breastbone of 1 and front feet not straight. Chest moderately broad and deep with slight tuck-up beneath loin, well-muscled croup. Tail set a little high, over stretched in the rear so rear angulation compromised. Movement was lively but little drive from the rear.

Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla

PUPPY D/B (1.1)

1. BYRNE, Mrs J – ENRYB PURPLE PEOPLE EATER (9mth D) BPIB What a lovely young man, well-proportioned head with moderate stop and such a kind slightly oval eye and good coat on the head giving him a very striking appearance with medium set ears and beautiful dentition. Well-muscled but not overdone, moderate, slightly arching neck into well laid shoulders with nice tight elbows, straight forelegs of good bone with slightly sloping pasterns. Strong body, slightly longer than height with level topline which he maintained on the move. Good depth of chest reaching the elbows with ribs well back. Good tail-set which was carried level on the move, with lovely straight rear, well-muscled and moderate rear angulation. Good coat and well-presented, on the move there was nice propulsion from the rear so moved like a dream for such a young boy, one to watch for the future for sure.

Good reach of neck into well laid shoulders, close elbows, correct bone and correct slightly sloping pasterns. Well-proportioned in body length to height, good depth of chest with moderate spring of rib. Good, clean, harsh coat with slightly oval feet. Muscular but not overdone. Level topline leading to correct tail set. Good rear angulation, well-let down hocks. A pleasure to watch on the move with strong drive from the rear.

Adult Handling

17-30yrs (2,2)

1. Jess Bailey – handling a very well behaved 3yr old Labrador Retriever, keeping a nice slack lead throughout the patterns, gentle repositioning her dog with lots of praise. Demonstrating teeth correctly and checked the dogs position after going over to correct the stand. This pairing are in tune with each other.

2. Elizabeth Gough – handling a 4yr old Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, lead was a little too taught which threw the dog off on movement and commands for turning where a little late for the dog to comply on a slack lead, showed teeth but not as expertly as 1st placed. Forgot to check the stack following going over.

31-45yrs (0,1)

46-59yrs No entries

60+ yrs (1,1)

1. Helen Golding - handling a 2yr old Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, for Helen’s first competition, she did very well indeed. Showed teeth but a little more practice will smooth out presentation. Handled the patterns well on a slack lead with lots of verbal praise. Mirroring was a little challenging, keeping the dog from moving however with a little bit of guidance given that will come with some more practice, all in all a great first time out.
