My heartfelt thanks to Guildford and District Canine Society for inviting me to judge Labradors; I had an absolutely wonderful time evaluating such quality dogs. A special thank you to my steward for keeping the ring running smoothly, and to all the exhibitors for bringing their beautiful dogs to this delightful show.

Best Of Breed - Saranden Leap of Faith to Othamcourt (Mrs Rp & Miss L Reardon)

Reserve Best Of Breed - Handialla Lady in Red at Ballaremuera (Mrs W A Jury)

Best Puppy - Huxmont's Queen of Faeries (Mrs A Davis)

Puppy (2 ENT – 1 ABS)

1st - Huxmont's Queen of Faeries (Mrs A Davis)

A lovely chocolate puppy with a well-shaped head. The eye is slightly lighter than ideal but complements the coat colour nicely. She has a pretty head, well-set ears, and a short, dense coat. Well-turned stifle and hocks well let down. A keen mover, though I would prefer a bit more substance throughout. Interested to see how she will mature.

Junior (3 ENT – 0 ABS)

1st - Saranden Leap of Faith to Othamcourt (Mrs Rp & Miss L Reardon)

A quality well-balanced and promising young yellow bitch, exhibiting excellent breed type and structure. She has a well-proportioned, feminine head with correct pigmentation and eye colour, giving her a soft, kind expression. Her muzzle has good depth and length, and she possesses a strong, clean neck leading into well-laid shoulders.

Her overall structure is strong yet feminine, with excellent bone, a level topline, and good width throughout from her rib to her strong loin. She has ample forechest, deep brisket, barrel ribs, and strong, short couplings. Her well-angulated front and rear contribute to her sound and free movement, which is lively and true, at the start it took her a bit to get settled, but settled well and moved cleanly. Her coat is in excellent condition, displaying the correct texture and density for the breed, complemented by a well-clothed otter tail.

She moves with confidence and attentiveness, showing a happy and eager temperament in the ring. She is a promising young bitch.

2nd - Zackiver Bubble and Squeak at Wimjass (Miss H & Mrs J Vine & Hassell)

A wonderful black bitch who exudes both substance and quality. She has a beautifully feminine head with dark eyes and a kind, captivating expression that immediately drew me in. Her head flows seamlessly into a strong, well-proportioned neck with ample front, creating a balanced and elegant outline. She possesses a gentle curve over the withers that transitions smoothly into a perfect, level topline, floating effortlessly off her tail.

Her construction is of the highest quality, with a correct coat, excellent bone, and a well-turned stifle. Her back end is particularly impressive, featuring a strong thigh to stifle, leading down to a well-defined second thigh and beautifully formed feet. Handled to advantage, she truly shone in the ring.

It was a difficult choice between 1 and 2, but in the end, I preferred the movement and overall profile of 1. That said, she is a really promising prospect with a bright future ahead.

3rd - Zackiver Velvet Ruby (Miss L Harding)

2nd - Handialla Lady in Red at Ballaremuera (Mrs W A Jury)

A well-balanced yellow bitch who immediately catches the eye with her lovely head and appealing expression. Her beautifully shaped eyes, of excellent colour, are complemented by well-placed ears, enhancing her intelligent and kind expression. She has a clean, strong neck that flows seamlessly into well-laid shoulders, creating a smooth and effortless outline.

Love her construction with a strong, well-proportioned frame, excellent bone, and neatly formed feet. She has plenty of depth through the ribcage, leading to a well-developed, powerful rear that provides strength and drive.

Moving with purpose, she covers the ground with ease and confidence, demonstrating both soundness and efficiency. Shown in excellent condition, she presented a picture of both elegance and strength, making a lasting impression. I preferred 1 over 2 on topline and overall outline, which gave her the edge.

3rd - Huxmont I Want It All (Mrs A Davis)
