Edwinstowe and District Canine Society Easter Premier Open Show 18/04/25

Finnish Lapphunds

My thanks to the committee and my stewards and for the good natured and sporting attitude from all the exhibitors. Thank you for your support and quality entries.

Puppy (1,1) 1.Daly’s Whinfoss Kesansoturi, 8 months brown and tan male with a lovely kind expression, broad head, stop developing, wide set ears and very engaging personality. He is still raw, needs time to mature and balance but his coat is already excellent for his age as is his tail set. Moderate angulation throughout, yet could do with more bone, rather than weight, at this stage in his development. On the move he was a little erratic, distracted by his first grass outing which made movement hard to judge. BPIB

Junior (1,1) as above

Post Graduate (2,2) 1. Wallis Baga’s Velrok Este Ellerina, 2 yrs black and tan bitch whose type really caught my eye with beautiful outline and ultra moderate angles, with everything in correct proportions. Exquisite feminine head with dark eyes and correct ratios of skull to muzzle, good stop. Despite her obvious femininity she is well off for bone. Coat is mid shed but still of correct texture. She thoroughly enjoyed her rolling and somersaulting round the ring but settled at the end. Would love to see her out more, in coat, and with some ring schooling - she would be very competitive indeed. RBOB

2. Daly’s TabanyaRuu Borealis Boo, 2 yrs black and tan male, presenting a neat, masculine outline, slightly more cobby than other exhibits today. Good head and ear set, but eyes round and light. Well muscled, perfect weight and very well off for bone. Coat of course texture. Angulation moderate, and gaiting consistent, would prefer a better drive from the rear which was slightly stilted and upright, especially at slower pace.

Open (1,1) 1. Whyman’s Lappviken Keltainen of Manu, 18 months black and tan larger male, with super outline. Strong well ratioed head and muzzle, attractive expression, lovely ears and dark eye which he uses to good effect with the judge(!). Coat dense and coarse. Hands on his weight is excellent and has good bone substance and muscle especially neck , chest and shoulders but still has room to mature in the next few months behind the ribs and over the loin.

Entirely moderate throughout with a great balance fore and aft, which showed in his movement. Pushed hard today by the RBOB on conformation and type but he absolutely commanded the ring on movement both at trot and walking pace. BOB and Group 3
