Thank you very much to the Society for your kind invitation to judge this special breed and for your hospitality at a well organised and friendly show.

I would also like to thank my very efficient and lovely Stewards, Natasha Mokryk and Anna Roberts for keeping things running smoothly and finally, a huge thank you to my exhibitors for their support in giving me another super entry with some lovely dogs to judge, and for taking my decisions graciously!

All exhibits were presented in very nice condition, handled well and with most showing lots of “Griffon” character.

Lots of happy, confident, little people, what a joy!

Puppy (2) 1. Barney, Mrs D’s Cilleine Dernier Rose, 7 month old Red Rough Bitch, a promising, confident, lively and alert youngster. A nice soft expression, feminine head and open nostrils, well placed ears and correct dentition. Super level top line with nicely high set tail, although a little tight for me. Good rear angulation and adequate bone. Will be one to watch as she matures. Pleased to award her BPIB.

2. Wood, Miss L’s Delightbull Eternal Flame, 6 month old Red Smooth Dog, such a handsome happy boy with beautiful mask. Well carried ears giving a nice alert expression. Very good width of chest for age with good bone. Lovely deep coloured correct coat. Tail set lower than 1

Junior (4) 1. Wood, Miss L’s Delightbull Lady in Red, 18 month old Red Rough Bitch who I understand has just been awarded her Jw. Congratulations! This pretty girl with a happy and alert disposition, has a nice feminine head, with correct open nostrils, width of jaw and good turn up as well as large round dark eyes that melt your heart. Nice neck leading to good width and depth of chest. Tight elbows, nice short loin, well sprung ribs and level top line, clothed in a very beautiful jacket in texture and colour. Good high set tail, well carried. Adequate bone with straight legs and lovely small forward facing feet. Well-muscled with great angulation. Good movement both coming and going. Certainly a well-balanced square, creating a very cobby, compact package. Delighted to award her BOB

2. Gullon, Mr C’s Barnfall Vanity, 14 month old Red Smooth Bitch is a happy girl with a beautiful dark mask, large dark eyes, open nostrils and good turn up. Well-placed ears, all be it a little heavy. Nice rear angulation and movement, with a lovely deep colour of jacket in tip top condition. Good width of chest, nice tight elbows and great top line but not as cobby as 1. Will watch with interest how she matures

3. Gullon, Mr C’s Barnfall Violet.

Post Graduate. (4,2) 1. Gullon, Mr C’s Barnfall Vanity, 14 month old Red Smooth Bitch.

2. Wood, Miss L’s Raiangelite Viva Viktoria Delightbull, 5½ year old Red Rough Bitch, another nice girl. Pretty head with large dark eyes well placed either side of large open nostrils. Lovely top line with high set tail and adequate bone and forechest. A little subdued today and not the drive of 1

Open. (5,1) 1. Spittle, Miss J’s Cilleine Quintessential Jw, 2 year 8 month old Red Rough Bitch which I judged 18 months ago and delighted to see she now has her Jw. Large head with correct nose placement, wide open nostrils and big dark eyes. Good width of jaw, dentition and turn-up. Correct width of chest, good forechest as well as a short back supporting a good top line. High set tail, a little tight for me. Good movement with very nice vertical rear pasterns (probably the best of the day) and lovely bone. A lot to like in this cobby girl with substance. RBOB

2. Gullon, Mr C’s Datiro Chicka dee Jw Osw, 5 year old Red Smooth Bitch with plenty of character. Nice head and expression. Dark eyes and wide nostrils correctly placed, all set off by a lovely dark mask. Good width and depth of chest and tight elbows. Beautiful tight coat in colour and texture with nice top line. Well boned straight legs and small feet moving well. Not quite as square as 1
