Date: 21st December 2025

Newark

Breed: Great Dane

Judge: Marta Binkowska

I would like to thank the committee of the Boston & District Canine Society for inviting me to judge at their Christmas Show, and to the exhibitors for their entries and support. My thanks also go to the steward of the ring, Colin, for his efficient and friendly assistance. It was a privilege to judge my beloved breed. In my assessment, I was looking for that ideal balance of strength and elegance presented on a sound frame.

Best Of Breed - Fonblanque Fiona (Ms M & Mr R Cope & Thorn)

Best Puppy - Juno von Der Rhon (Imp Deu) (Mrs T & Mr D Laycock)

Puppy Dog (entries: 1, abs: 0)

1st Sophelsa Fields of Gold (Miss S Fletcher) 9 month old lovely black masked fawn boy with sweet expression and dark eye, strong head and bone, currently going through a growth spurt and will tighten with time, excellent colour and length of the neck, would prefer straighter, tighter feet and slightly more length of leg. BEST PUPPY DOG

Special Yearling Dog (entries: 3, abs: 1)

1st Zefather’s Two Faces with Irieusdane (Mrs R A & Miss J Wright & Cranfield) stunning young fawn dog, with all the elegance and substance standard calls for, head carried high and of good proportions with excellent eye, alert expression and great presence, balanced picture both standing and moving, nicely filled chest, straight legs, powerful rear, strong topline, awarded BEST DOG, in the final lineup lost to the bitch due to a slight underbite.

2nd Renescent Bewitched JW (Mr D Simpson) Quality jet-black male with super head and expression and good dark eye, broad muzzle, masculine yet graceful, would prefer slightly more give in the front pastern and more turn of stifle, friendly temperament, moved freely with elegance and spring but tends to dip in his topline.

Limit Dog (entries: 0)

Open Dog (entries: 2, abs: 1)

1st Bubba von Pao Eberjager with Tamzdane (Imp Fca) (Miss & Mrs & Mrs & Mr Pocock & Pavlou) stood alone but very attractive, well marked mantle boy of great proportions and flowing outline, good bone, he could do with a touch more fill through the body and forechest, well presented showing his happy disposition, correct bite, good length of neck and elegant head, slight bend to a forearm, awarded RESERVE BEST DOG

Puppy Bitch (entries: 3, abs: 1)

1st Juno von Der Rhon (Imp Deu) (Mrs T & Mr D Laycock) eye catching almost one year old darker fawn bitch with black mask, compact yet elegant, square in body, arched neck, dark eye, ribs well sprung, good muscle tone for age, tight feet but slightly toeing out, correct angulation front and back, good tuck up, she would show better if the handler was more relaxed, moved ok, awarded BEST PUPPY BITCH, BEST PUPPY, RESERVE BEST BITCH and I was pleased to learn she later took 2nd PLACE PUPPY WORKING GROUP

2nd Tamzdane Cherry Crumble (Miss T & Mrs L Pocock) 10 month old beautifully marked harlequin female, strong and well boned, correct eye, pleasing head of correct length, good topline and rear angles, little wide in front, well muscled and strong thigh, would prefer tighter feet, presented in a good coat condition, moved close behind

Special Yearling Bitch (entries: 7, abs: 2)

1st Fonblanque Fiona (Ms M & Mr R Cope & Thorn) Lots to like on this honest well marked harlequin bitch, she presents a sound and accurate profile, square in proportions, enough bone and substance, lovely head with broad muzzle and proportionally narrow skull, just the right amount of lip, head size in proportion with the body, good spring of rib, adequately developed forechest and good depth to brisket, tight feet, correct dentition, back short and muscular, would prefer touch less tuck up, moved out very well, friendly and confident temperament, BEST BITCH, BEST OF BREED

2nd Lambrini A Girl Like Me at Tamzdane (Miss T & Mrs L Pocock) 11 month old mantle girl with excellent colour, looking quite well put together for the age, proportions would benefit from a little more length of leg, great topline and rear angulation, good bone, well set neck of a good length, little steep in front, not as tidy on the move as the 1st

3rd Wildflower Patch at Minezara (Ms J D Reed)

Limit Bitch (entries: 2, abs: 1)

1st Wildflower Patch at Minezara (Ms J D Reed) 1,5 year old black bitch with kind expression and super eye, strong in head, bridge of the nose of a good breadth, strong back with croup slightly sloping, standing on excellent cat like feet, good front pasterns, shoulder well laid back and muscular, clean neck, could have a little more angulation at the back and thicker tail would suit her size better, moved well

Open Bitch (entries: 1, abs: 1)
