Border Collies

Puppy (1,0)

1st Judd & Gaylard’s Nobite Forbidden Fruit with Kaeleon. BP

6.5 month b/w baby, nice for size and substance at this age with correct proportions giving a balanced outline. She has a good reach of neck, level topline held on the move, and gentle slope over the croup to a long well carried tail. Her front is straight and her well angulated forequarters are balanced at the rear with well bent stifles and well let down hocks. She has a pleasing head with skull and muzzle of equal length, though her skull still needs to flatten, distinct stop, well placed ears and dark brown eyes of good shape and set wide apart, all combining to give a keen but gentle expression. She moved soundly and freely from all angles. Loved her temperament, everything was new but she was taking it all in her stride.

Special Yearling (3,1)

1st  Austin & Zolakova’s Hysteps That’ll Do

Pretty b/w bitch of ideal size and substance, completely out of coat which showed off her lovely outline. Super reach of neck, nicely arched, into well laid shoulders, level topline and graceful slope over croup to a long, low-set tail. She has a straight front with flexible pasterns, good depth of chest and spring of rib, and well angulated muscular hindquarters. Her head handles well with a broad flat skull, nicely rounded muzzle, good mouth and underjaw, dark oval eyes and well placed ears carried alertly. She moved soundly with reach and drive in profile. I note she is a full sister to the BOB and very similar in style, and when she grows a coat to complete the picture I am sure she will do equally well. Strong contender for RBOB but just lacked the finish on the day.

2nd  Frawley’s Littlethorn Ghost

Blue and white male, very exuberant and giving his handler a difficult task. He is well constructed fore and aft with enough neck, level topline and a very long low-set tail. His head is balanced with correct skull-to-muzzle proportions, distinct stop, flat skull, well filled foreface, dark eyes and good ear set and carriage when attentive. He moved OK when he settled to the job though he lacked the extension in profile of 1st.

Limit (6,2)

1st  Hysteps That’ll Do

2nd  Austin & Zolakova’s Hysteps Hazelnut Cluster

10 yr old b/w bitch, shown in very good coat and condition. She is well made with a neck of good length, well laid shoulders and return of upper arm, straight front with strong bone, flexible pasterns, oval feet with well arched toes, good depth of chest, well angulated hindquarters, and slope over croup to a low set tail. She has a pleasing head with parallel planes of skull to muzzle, distinct stop, well filled foreface with good underjaw, dark eyes and sensitively used ears. She was giving away a lot in years to 1st, and although very sound could not match her side gait on the go round.

Open (5,3)

1st  Austin & Zolakova’s Sh Ch/Nld Ch Hysteps My Irish Colleen. BOB, PG2.

3-year-old b/w bitch I judged as a puppy and pleased to see she has fulfilled her early promise. She is perfect for size and so well balanced standing naturally foursquare. I loved her outline with an arched neck of good length, level topline and graceful slope over croup to a long, low-set tail. She has an excellent layback of shoulder and length of upper arm, elbows close to her body and under her withers, and corresponding angulation of her hindquarters which are well muscled. Her head is feminine and of correct proportions with parallel planes, flat skull, nicely rounded muzzle, good mouth and underjaw, dark oval eyes and well placed and carried ears giving a charming expression. Her movement was light, smooth and ground covering with the minimal foot lift required of the breed.

2nd  Porter’s Kirkwind Shooting Star

Heavily coated b/w veteran male of good size and substance. Enough neck, enhanced by a broad white collar, balanced angulation at both ends, straight front, good depth of chest, level topline and long tail. Pleasing head shape with flat skull, parallel planes, distinct stop, good mouth, and dark oval eye, but more lift to his ears would improve his expression for me. Was carrying too much weight which restricted his movement.

Veteran (4,1)

1st  Austin & Zolakova’s Miraje Frozen Again for Hysteps. RBOB

Handsome 7.5 year-old b/w male, shown in gleaming black jacket. Pleasing overall body proportions with plenty of substance and athletic appearance. As with the other exhibits from this kennel he has a good reach of neck, level topline and slope over croup to a long, low-set tail. His forequarters are well angulated, he has a good depth of chest and spring of rib, well bent stifles, short hocks and oval well padded feet. His head is masculine with skull and muzzle of equal length, distinct stop, oval brown eyes set wide apart, and well set ears, combining to give a keen but soft expression. From his movement you would not think he was a veteran, he had an easy action with good front extension and drive from well muscled hindquarters.

2nd  Zolakova & Vlascic’s Hats Off of Bordertreowe JW HWT (IMP SRB)

10-year-old b/m bitch, short of coat which showed off her lovely outline. She is feminine and elegant with no exaggeration, spot on for size with just the right amount of bone, balanced angulation at both ends, a nicely arched neck, level topline and the desired slope over croup to a low set tail. Correct head proportions, dark well placed eyes and neatly tipped ears give her an appealing expression. She lacked the fluidity of 1st on the move but was shown in great condition for her age.
