Marlborough and District Canine Society, Premier open show 05/05/25

French Bulldogs

Thank you to the society for this kind invitation to judge at this Equestrian Centre; the overall quality of my entry was very good, thank you to those exhibitors for these entries. I also had a delightful efficient steward who made sure my ring run smoothly.

Puppy (2)

1st Hucker’s Oschalben Olissa at Bevanray, brindle bitch 7 months old. Charming little brindle girl, still immature (but rightly so for her age). Very well put together and presented well, she was at one with her handler at all times. She has square head in proportion to her body, with the most appealing dark kind eyes. She has a cobby body with well sprung ribs, her shoulders are well set back and hindquarters had matching angulation, giving her good balance which enabled free flowing movement. She was a very happy puppy with a spring in her step, pleased to award her Best Puppy in Breed.

2nd Morison’s Xandene Caramel Fudge, 9 month old fawn bitch, much more mature than the 1st placed puppy. Much to like about her too, she has an appealing head and expressive kind eyes, a lovely dark mask, super up sweep of chin and her ears are set high and parallel with good width between. She was in tip top condition, I would just prefer better angulation, this would give her more stride on the move. Another at one with her handler.

Special Yearling (2)

1st Bonsall’s Best Frenchie Pirat at Muggshotts, 16 month old pied boy. He is a sturdy and compact chap, and well up on size. Good bone and is well balanced. His head is square and in good proportion to his body, he has good padding and well developed muscles on his cheeks, he has correct lip placement too, however you would not want this head to get any bigger. His body is well balanced with correct angulation front and back, which allowed him to move out well. He is perhaps a little laid back , and would benefit from some more drive. Lots to like about this young chap.

2nd Hucker’s Bevanray Asparagus, charming fawn bitch 13 months old, another well put together young lady. Good dark mask and appealing dark eyes, feminine throughout. Another with well-placed ears and wide muzzle. She has a straight front, adequate bone and is good condition . Super cat like feet, good spring of rib and evident tuck up. I liked her a lot, tidy on the move, this was the toughest class of the day as I liked both these dogs. Just preferred the overall balance of my 1st placed dog

Limit (1,2)

1st French’s Bincombefarm Morsmordre JW, almost 2 year old brindle boy, very well put together young chap, with striking brindle stripes. He would benefit from a little more weight all over and better spring of rib, however, he is very well balanced front and back, and is in fine muscular condition. He has a short back with the required rise over the loin, good tuck up and evident tail. He is a smart young chap and was foot perfect on the move. His head is also very well balanced, with super ear placement, he has good dentition and correct lip placement. Handled very well too.

Open (3,4)

This too was a very good class as I liked all these exhibits very much, so it was just splitting hairs with my decisions

1st French’s Bincombefarm Serpensortia JW, pied bitch almost 2 years old, litter sister to my limit winner. She is very well put together, presents a really nice balanced outline, nothing overdone on her. Her shoulders are well laid back and she has the correct rear angulation. She has good spring of rib and benefits from a gentle rise of the loin, she is cobby and is in fine muscular condition. Her head is not overdone in any way either, with a brindle batch over one eye, giving her a super kind expression. She has good dark eyes, well defined stop, and deep lower jaw with good turn up. Her balance really showed on the move, it was effortless and smooth. She was a one with her handler. Best of Breed, and pleased to hear she took Utility Group 2

2nd Hucker’s Ch Bevanray Terrypendry JW, another smart young pied, 2 years old. He has a striking head, double hooded, and the most appealing eyes. He has correct bat ears with good width in-between. Super neck flowing into well laid shoulders, and again the correct rise over the loin. Overall in tip top condition, he would benefit from more rear angulation. He moved out well and he has a charming character, and at one with his handler.

3rd Suhareva & Cluttenden’s Castrum Osinium Roller Coaster at Averymayz JW (imp Cro).
